Honestly I don't understand why so many people ask about this. Don't get this wrong, there is nothing wrong with asking for input, but in the end you are the one who has to decide what and how you want to do things. If you only go for what other people like, you might end up hating your own game. Do it the way you want to do it.
Well said, recreation.

In the end I will make the game Ive always wanted, but I was afraid people would really dislike the idea of using another game to make my own game.

I think art style is important in the end result of the game, and in the larger picture. Minecraft wouldn't be the same without it's art-style. And many people who see games with similar art-styles to Minecraft see it as a lazy copying of something. Especially people using the Minecraft engine.

This is just an example. But on this site, even, you can see so many people using Daz models that were popularized in other games. The girl from DMD comes to mind. I've seen that model in about a dozen games since, and it feels strange to me. I think as long as work is made to differentiate characters, or even a way of referencing the past, it can work really well. Artists using others' assets still work very hard on their vision, and I can relate to that. But it's something many people are commenting on, and it can cause trouble I think if used as a crutch.

I think at this point, I will make this game using Honey Select characters. Working very hard to make them unique and likable. MAYBE later on I may decide to try to use my own art, as I will continue developing it in the future. That can either be a different edition of the game, or I may just do it for the next one.

Thank you again for your response. I will keep your advice in mind

Good vibes out,

Just to get this out of the way, every single decision you will make will turn someone off, and mostly cause a violent reaction. It's Ren'py? Boring click-fest. It's RPGM? Boring walking sim. It's Unity? Takes more power than a calculator to run. The point is that after cutting all the people who don't care about the game, you still will have a sizable number that you can work on.

On your CGs, I can tell they don't have oversized proportion and they have actual expressions, that alone should take you to top 20% of the 3D art in games. I'm also a big fan of anything that's not generic slice-of-life or rape-sim, so it does look like it should be at least worth downloading.

redknight, thank you so much for your kind words! They really mean a lot to me.

I think that games have a wonderful place in life, to allow people to really envelop themselves in fantasy. Whether it is school fantasy, magical fantasy, or space fantasy. Some people have issues and trauma they deal with, and whatever they need, they'll find. I think we all have things we look for in life, and games ca be a way of getting our minds to come to terms with that.

I work really hard on emotions, and imbuing characters with personality, so your words really make me happy. Thank you.

My games will not be for everyone. I think first and foremost, I want to work on games that make people happy, and give some morality to life. I really do not like violence or rape. I'm super weird in that I like consent. Fuck me, right? I am making games that I would like to play. A world that people will think about, wonder about the repercussions and possibilities, and also masturbate to, if desired.

I don't want to make "smut" per se. Not that anything is wrong with it. I like porn as much as the next purple red colored male human. But I think a good story, engaging characters, and also some sexiness can make a game amazing.

Kamidori, Alchemy Meister is a huge inspiration to me. It had an interesting story, fun combat, and also porn.

I will work hard to make my vision come true, and thanks to your kindness, I have an extra spring in my step today.

Thank you again, redknight. I mean it

Working in Daz Studio is like being a mortician working on a corpse. There are many other render programs that allow you to work with living breathing models. HS is good.
