I draw the line at harassing devs but I wouldn't say this matches the criteria since it's closer to a circle jerk of hate and otherwise agree that actions have consequences. My point is that insults aren't critique.

To be fair, I was making a general statement, not one specifically aimed at anyone; hence why I didn't quote anyone for a direct response. So instead, here's a more succinct explanation of how one person's criticism is another's insult:

Calling the developer lazy, a clown and accusing them of AI usage, not putting in any effort and knowingly milking funds from supporters aren't "mild criticism", they're personal attacks. Whether any or all of the above are justified is a very different matter, but your attempt at a censorship deflection despite not having been personally accused of doing so speaks to a persecution complex or perhaps a sense of guilt for wrongdoing. Either way, people are still going to be in here asking when the next update is coming or complaining about the game or the developer because they've got nothing better to do or nowhere else to go, despite Mishanya1004's claim that people have reverse-engineered the game and made a better product. If that were true, people would be playing that instead of bitching in here.

You've been on here for longer than most of us running shameless defense for they who shall remain unnamed. Are you sure you're not associated because honestly at this point, you deserve a bone for your trouble.

You're not wrong on all accounts though, there's no competition (real or imaginary) because most here, myself included either don't have the time to burn to learn how to code/make art/both or the funds to facilitate the time investment to learn aforementioned skills. That's not going to be enough to stop people from making criticisms valid or otherwise.

Is GSG suddenly Voldemort or something? The only reason I'm using the acronym is because I can't be bothered to type "Gunsmoke Games" every time I refer to them. And I'm just here providing benefit of the doubt, not trying to convince people to stay subscribed or something. In fact, I did the exact opposite in the last sentence of the second paragraph of this comment.

I do feel sorry for the person behind the emojis, which I still find funny no matter what's going on, if the narrative of the competence of the artist(s) being the problem and they're a tired mouthpiece is the truth. Beyond that, I've weighed in on productivity based on how we're led to believe this indie dev is structured, how long-term burn out effects artists and correcting the misconceptions of how AI image generation works. The first two are only maybe applicable to GSG/SR7 since none of us know for sure but I think it's worth putting out there among the "lazy", "milking" and "hack". If a different perspective is too conflicting with the circle jerk, I can not waste my time. Erebus has already made it known he doesn't like to hear an opinion other than his own but is that true of you as well? If so, that sounds far more like tone policing than anything I've said.

I stopped to see what had happened since christmas last year, and we're at close on 5 months with nothing.

If he's burned out he needs to hand the project off to a team of people who he can pay.

If he's not burned out on it, he needs to up his output because this is honestly a very poor showing for a dev who once clearly had a real drive to make something good.

I feel like if some group of Chinese art students and a coder teamed up they could make a clone of this game in two months, and have a finished, very expanded version of the game in the same 5 months of silence we've had.

Except for the fact that we know for sure none of your points apply to SR7. He has always been like this, and his worst parts have only intensified with time. I wouldn't be half as bitter if at some point he actually was better qua communicating and updates - but he wasn't, and at least, back in the day his bad points could be forgiven cause the art was nice.

There will always be people who go overboard in their critic, which is NOT to say that is okay, the mistake is thinking that it represents everyone, or it is the part of the discourse that needs the more attention, no matter what you do, even when you are benign, even when you are doing things right.

Always remember the operators of the red cross and MSF being attacked in Liberia during the Ebola outbreak, while they were trying to help, the local population associated them with the disease and blamed and attacked them, that is one of the height of human altruism and they still got shit for it.

Trying to engage the criticism from level headed people on the basis of them behaving like those who are beign irrational is just another strawman.

Yk I agree people in here have gone a lil overboard on criticism and personal attacks. I have issues with the devs I've outlined before and think they don't hold themselves accountable and communicate poorly.

I also get what you're trying to go for here, but the use of the Red Cross and an Ebola outbreak makes me omegalul considering this is a thread about a porn parody vn based on DC comics .
