I know how this is going to sound, but as far as VN's are allowed to go, this is a very complicated read. Don't read this casually, or to "pass the time", Sona-Nyl requires you to be paying attention to everything that is going on, pretty much all the time. If you are already familiar with the "What a beautiful series" by Liar-Soft, Sona-Nyl might be the heaviest in terms of literary devices, and subjective content.
Positive:
- Unique art style within the VN medium. Lots of quality, difference, and aesthetically pleasing. Can't ask for much more.
- Enough subjective content, and undertone to give you a headache (everything means something). I'm very serious here, nothing is to be taken at face value.
- All kinds of negative emotions instilled in the reader. The more sensitive you are, the greater the payout. Again, it's not just understanding, empathy will play a big part on your enjoyment.
- Some of the most distinctive characters you ever saw in a VN, accompanied by outstanding voice acting.
- A narrative that needs to be judged by literary standards. Far above the usual VN, to a point where comparisons become unfair. It's a writing style that was honed to near perfection, and has only big names of the medium as competition.
Negative:
- It's still a limited VN in terms of production values, and if there was ever something, where the saying "this is not for everyone" applied, then this is it.
Score: Sona-Nyl is a 9/10 and a wonderful time, if you want a very nice read. Don't read this casually, or you won't reach the real reward Sona-Nyl has to offer.
(Not a lot of 18+, and what exists is probably not what you are expecting.)
