This basically. I've been following this game since it first released. What I remarked is that there was less and less content in the free survival mode and more and more content locked to the story mode after each update. There was a time, during the first demo, where you could access the house setpiece and play with different zombie types. Surprisingly, I know, no dime spent. But now because the dev thought it so, you can only really access the sex scenes with the basic zombie. You're not wrong to think this way. But let me provide you a better alternative keeping supporter benefits and public approval in mind.
Right now, let's face it, the actual content is locked behind a subscription. For a person wanting to experience the full game, they get limited to survival which in most cases tends to confuse people and gets repetitive in the long run. Most people would not be inclined to support a project if they don't find it engaging and appealing enough. Having a story and story driven objectives drives attention and appeal.
The way a lot of popular games manage supporter benefits is by implementing perks. Examples:
1. Supporters will have immediate access to special scenes that can be viewed in-game by accessing a terminal and entering a special code. Other players will have to explore to earn those scenes often by fighting difficult enemies or mobs.
2. Rare resources are provided in bulk to supporters but other players have to explore and harvest those resources. These resources can be used to construct special buildings and equipment.
3. Rare or Legendary equipments are provided to supporters in a locker they can access at the start of the game. These equipment can be offensive, defensive and supportive and can have active and passive effects. Other players can either find these equipment while exploring, usually after fighting unique boss monsters, using rare resources to craft them or completing challenges.
The perk method ensures all players get equal experience while making sure supporters get additional benefits. The most important thing in a supporter based model is to convert a first time player into a supporter. The perks I described provide benefits to supporters while also not jeopardizing the gameplay experience of a first time player.
It is scummy. There is a changelog of this game every few months, but no one can play it unless they want to do a monthy subscription to this guy's Patreon. Most of VulKhan's audience get's rewarded with less and less content to play with! The fucking irony. I'm not going to pay for shit if the only experience I get to sample this game is to run around some repetitive blocky field for 10 minutes while my game's brightness shifts periodically like it's Minecraft, but worst because there is nothing to do. There is no excuse for this shit, well unless someone likes eating shit and for some here that is definetly their fetish.
