The game is not long nor that hard, it can take less than an hour to beat depending on how good you are.
The gore is good and sprite death animations are enjoyable. The problem is that to unlock the CG you need to give up and restart the level. This is a horrible gameplay decision, since I don't want to repeat the same levels 7 times just to see the death animation with each new enemy. This alone can make the game drop to 1 star, but someone shared here how to modify your save file to see all the CGs. It still not a perfect fix since now the sprite death animation and the payoff CG are in different sections, so you don't get the best experience. It's quite a disappointment, really.
This makes the optimal way to play to actually try to beat the game like a tryhard without trying to enjoy what the game offers.
Example: I'm in the stage 3-3 and I get killed by an enemy. I see a nice sprite animation and I like to see the final CG with the horrible consequences for the protagonist. But if I do that I will need to start from 3-1, so I don't get to see the CG so I can restart from 3-3.
And even after beating the game, if you what to see a boss CG you need to reach the end of the level (you can't choose the boss stage, so if you want to see the boss of Stage 3 CG, you need to complete Stages 3-1 to 3-3), let the boss kill you with the attack you want to see. If the boss has more than one attack with a CG you will need to do this again. I think some bosses have 3 CGs... It's a complete chore.
Other than this, the game can be a little frustrating, so I can't really recommend this.

I've always liked Art Marimo, so even though I don't like side scrollers, I still play it. Art is still great, animation is still great. The shaping isn't bad, but like I said. I don't like side scrollers so I only give it about 3.5 stars.

Didn't quite live up to what i've heard about this game, gameplay is poor and the CG grind is tedious, the control is weird too. I mean I don't have any expectation for an old game but this is just, bad

It looks like the developer focused too much on the animations and didn't care one bit about the gameplay.

There are games from the 90s with better hitbox detection.

All enemies have preset patterns that never change - once you fought an enemy once, you never see it do anything new.

The gameplay consists of short levels where you kill enemies by using the same two buttons (jump and kick). There is a mechanic to use items, but they're mostly useless; for example, you can use a pipe, but it's disabled while jumping, so you end up using kick anyway.

Every third level there is a boss fight. Much like any other enemy, the boss follows the same preset pattern throughout the entire fight, and as such they present no challenge whatsoever.
I don't even know what's the attack of the second boss, because you can stun lock it by jumping and kicking until it dies.

It's basically Mario Bros for NES with poor controls and comical guro graphics.

I'm giving it two stars because there's plenty of animations, but other than that, the game doesn't offer anything.

This is a good old classic! The game contain guro, A LOT, but it was probably among the first in its kind. The gameplay is a basic sidescroller action game, with few controls. The CGIs are on the simplier side, but good, and the animation are really cartoonish...Again, WARNING EXTREME VIOLENCE!

a nice guro game with tons of deaths to satisfy that morbid curiosity, some hit boxes may felt unjustified but overall the game is a normal challege that you can beat in 1-3 hours, and have a cute protagonist
