VN Ren'Py Started working on a school-based VN with a dark storyline; is an interesting story enough for it to stand out?

Hi guys, I have started working on an adult VN that borrows some elements from the anime "Classroom of the Elite." It will be set in school and will feature a dark, mysterious storyline that will have the MC interacting with a bunch of girls (just like Lessons in Love). The visuals for this VN will be done using Koikatsu. Will an interesting and unique story be enough for it to stand out amongst other school-based VNs? Or is there some kind of fatigue against VNs set in school?

Unique? Probably not, especially if you're basing it on something else.

Doesn't mean it can't be interesting though. But I don't think that's enough for it to stand out. You're creating a porn game, so the first thing, the first impression will be visual. After that, a decent demo, then we can talk story.

As for the school setting itself, you will always find fans for it, so no worry there, I guess
