Nyah, school shooting game was a loud thing only for States. Outside of States no one cares about that and it didn't affect policy that much if at all. Steam games even if they're crappy, can't be early access forever (unless we're talking about huge projects). The thing is that no one except for western adult community uses such a primitive development method like Patreon and games from it just don't fit into Steam. You can throw garbage into Steam but it should at least be finished or close to that. Adult materials are observed much more than typical games so it might be more difficult for them to even start. Not to say that our games rarely have any gameplay value except for porn while Japanese VNs even without adult scenes tend to have plot.

Yes I did and I was corrected when someone sent me the links to Valve saying they were removing censorship due to all the complaints.

But thats the same news this forum had a few threads about since Steam posted them on their blog in early June. Theres nothing different yet. And the game, VR Kanojo, has dozens of Steam User Reviews that all say you need a Patch to get any sex/porn. Just look it up for a minute. Also look the dates, the Steam Blog Post about their censorship is from the 6th June, and Reviews that still say it needs a patch are from June-July, as well as April/May of course.

Im one of the people that hope the barrier gets broken, but just saying it already is is just false information. Even a game that released 3 days ago (Lilipalace) has a patch on the developers website. There are, as far as I know, no uncensored porn games on Steam. Last point, theres also still the option to report for Pornographic Content.

Not the best example of Steam letting porn games in as this one is censored and requires a patch. But lately I've seen a Japanese game with steam description mentioning that you can finish it as a virgin so market is changing definitely.
Do you mean the (japanese) market is changing because of the virgin route/finish? Because thats literally a thing for as long as I can remember, and definitely 10+ years. Its more about them wanting pure waifus for themselves. Not a new thing at all. Just happens to be an option in most corruption games, alongside making the character a total slut.

No. I meant that it was the first time when I've seen purely porn description on a Steam. It's some change for sure for our market. Virgin route games are the best but they're as old as Japanese market.

Alright, already thought you might be referring to another thing. And while I dont often play the virgin route, im all for having those options. Would like if the different markets also stay different, which is why im glad the japanese are still doing all the things they do. Dont want everyone to think and produce the same things. Thats what fantasy is for, at least for me.

Virigin route is fine... as long as game offers something other than porn scenes. But I guess, with steam there is a chance for making some people play longer with achievements.
Anyway, this whole thing was planned a while ago, just look at how steam changed:
Remove adult themed games in a way -> change default settings of user's page to hidden/private -> return of adult games.
They want to have all range, from games for younger customers to adult ones, but at the same time, trying to hide adult content from kids in any accidental situation and hide same content for users that aren't aware it will show on their page.
I expect Valve to refine methods of keeping adult content hidden from general view.

And this is why you don't sell your company, as Valve is fully private, not existing on the stock market. Thus, they do what they pretty much want, as Gabe answers only to himself (also, Mike leaving was a good thing as he would probably be all against adult games).

And before anyone tries to say this will kill patreon or adult games on patreon... No, it will not. Both will coexists with each other, at least for some long time. In case of customer base changing and being more demanding, steam userbase will regulate market without anyone needing to interfere.
