VN - Ren'Py - Stray Incubus [S2 Ch.1a] [Flynn974]

Solid game, but the later chapters have a few issues. Slow start, solid middle but is getting a bit shaky as of the end of season 1/start of season 2.

The good:

• World is an interesting blend of different mythologies, cool enough without leaving you scratching your head about how things work, honestly, as a fan of a lot of fantasy, the world building itself holds water compared to, you know, actual professional stuff out there.
• The characters are varied and interesting both in personalities and body types (Not everyone has their booba slider turned up to max, thank god)
• The story is actually good, not high literature, but it doesn't get in the way of letting the characters be themselves and is, for the most part, pretty cool. After the start of the story, it becomes a bit formulaic (Mission --> Rest/practice/drill --> Mission etc), but I think that's fine honestly. The story is about the MC progressing through the ranks and the structure reflects that.

The bad:

• The pacing. So there have been a couple of other reviews that have mentioned this and I think this kinda deserves two sub points
  • Story pacing: I get that this is a story about a cool chosen one and the point is to see him do cool chosen one things, but a bit of time to chill with no stakes in between missions would be nice, it would help develop the characters more in scenarios that aren't sex-related.
  • Sexy Time Pacing: And speaking of sex-related character development, the story has a tendency to rapid fire sex scenes at you one after another. In the later chapters every time the MC is in the village you know it's just him jumping from sex scene to sex scene with very little in between. I think, personally, it would be nice to just have a few more non-sexual scenes with the characters during these in between sections. And you know, buddy, give us some time to rest
• This one is kind of related to the pacing as well, but I think it's distinct enough to deserve it's own point -- In the latest chapters, the developer seems to be using the smash cut to sex quite a bit -- 3 times in the latest chapter that I remember, more elsewhere. Maybe some people like it and this is just me shaking my fist at clouds, but it kinda takes me out of it. It works in movies because the sex isn't the focus (Yeah, unless it's porn) and it's more the fact that they're having as part of the plot, but in an adult VN where the sex is the focus in these scenes, the buildup and foreplay are very important too.

All in all I definitely have enjoyed what's out already and hope that there will be more, but there are a few issues that, in my opinion, will eventually sour the game if left unchecked.

The game is okay, it has a lot of good things but also a lot of average ones, but nothing really bad.

The story is the biggest problem, the pacing is inconsistent, a lot feels like filler, and I think it´s just really boring.

The characters are okay some are boring others are a bit better like Torr for example, some really get too little screentime. And I really don´t like the MC.

The models are mostly good, some look a bit too similar or too bland but it isn´t that big a problem none look really bad. Except the MC I think he looks kinda bad.

The sex scenes have good animations, but not amazing.

The music is okay some are really annoying others are better.


I would recommend it, it isn´t anything special but it really isn´t bad at all.

Why hasn’t this game achieved 4.9 stars yet? This game is worthy of being compared to Eternum, or even exceeding it. It is unjust to give it a low rating just because you are only interested in the sex scenes and the rest of the story bores you . It is called a visual novel, after all. VN's should be rated in relation to thier writting and story, and this game displays some of the most brilliant writing on this site, with amazing humor, captivating characters, and an intriguing plot. It should undoubtedly be in the top 5 or even top 3 best VN's on this site

I played the game through Ch. 12a in a few evenings. There is a lot to like: good story, characters, sex scenes, humor. The look of the MC was a bit off-putting at first, but it grew on me. The graphics are mid-tier Honey Select, which I find quite acceptable.

There is one glaring con that keeps this from being a five-star game: the forced pacing. There are numerous short scenes with some animated element that proceed at their own pace, before allowing one to see some additional dialog. As there really isn’t any indication that this is happening, I would always end up clicking past them, see a flash of some dialog on the screen without time to read it, and have to rewind. Then I would drum my fingers on my desk impatiently while I waited the scene out, so I could read what I had missed. There are also a couple of times where an extended animation could not be escaped by clicking at all. This is retarded: it is the reader who sets the pace, and decides when to turn the page; not the author.

If being forced to dance to the dev’s beat doesn’t sound too off-putting, then there is a lot to like here, and I recommend you give it a shot.

I'm usually not into this genre of game.....but the story is actually VERY good! There are still some spelling mistakes that I caught in the script, but the story itself is very good.

Like a good book that you don't want to put down.....plus the sex scenes with all the extremely well animated chicks. Very few games can compare to the overall excellence this game delivers in pretty much every facet of what you'd expect a game like this to deliver!

Really good game.The art and animations are really good,The plot is very interesting.Only reason its not 5/5 its because of grammar(not many so dont focus on it too much) and during animated fighting etc it would be much more realistic if that animations were faster a bit but that is just my preference,the main reason its les than 5/5 is because you as MC dont really have much choice in anything except how you want to proceed when a girl is hitting on ya,but regardless its a game worth playing no question about it

Admittedly the AVN is not perfect that being said its really fun and I was really upset when I got to the end of the current version because I just wanted more!

Great job by the developer for creating a truly enjoyable AVN!
The story is really getting juicy now and the wait for the next update is going to be a drag!

Ultimately, it’s a rewarding game, which I recommend (with a caveat), and would have given 5 stars but for one problem:
The sex scenes don’t always have full-would-hold-up-in-any-court affirmative consent. They’re not, like, rape, but the women around the protagonist often take an erection as consent. It isn’t. Oh, right, that protagonist is sexually assaulted twice. There’s a possible scene with Torr, that could be sexual assault, depending on whether he’s licking her thigh or vulva. It’s not clear from the image where he starts. I think I’ll knock a star off. So enjoy, and remember that you can't do all that stuff in real life.
Otherwise, it’s a very good game; I enjoyed it, and wanted to keep playing, and was disappointed when I got to the end of the current version. A good plot (mostly), good writing (mostly)(when they aren’t making typos [of which there are a LOT, like one character who says "limps" instead of "limbs"]), good characters, and (nearly) all the girls are people, not just sexuality.
I’m not good at writing about things I like. So here are some things I don’t like:
As usual/always, there aren’t enough POV views in the sex scenes.
You get to choose whether you call some older women “mommy” and shit, which is good, I guess, ‘cuz I’m super not into that.
There are sex scenes that cannot be avoided, which I don't like.
The gallery doesn’t let you choose your name.
The protagonist is scrawny, and has a preposterously large dick (alright, he is an incubus), a weird abdominal marking (alright, he is an incubus), and has impossibly large eyes (alright, he is an incubus). Several of the girls have breasts that are comically large, which doesn’t do it for me. Still, they don’t pretend like that’s normal, and most of the girls have reasonable sizes, so it’s just a visual problem, not an ethical one.
The MILFs look a little too old for my taste.
There are a lot of times that it almost seems like the game files lost a few screens, and they decided not to recreate them. That’s just the most recent, but there are others.
The protagonist only ever gets sent on missions that turn out MUCH harder than expected. And there isn't talk about other missions where nothing interesting happens, so it feels a bit forced.
One of the sex scenes was too much for the laptop I play on The creator loves to end chapters with plot cliffhangers, but that’s unnecessary and annoying in a game that’s good. I don’t need to be coerced into continuing. Also, the post-game-credits thingy wasn't removed from the previous chapter, which is confusing and annoying.
Also, what the fuck was Elf-Cassie’s (hyper-cockney?) accent? She doesn’ talk li’ tha’, thankfully. Her accent is slightly british.

Got a lot of tags and optional tags that I like. Its cool to see some characters make appearances in other games. Its also got interesting story witch is always appreciated. This is definitely one to watch for more updates.

Amazing story, get through the first couple of chapters then it gets absolutely amazing, especially the visuals omg. Also also, I love the overall feel and comedy, my only thing is that Torr is almost always there, and she is defo my least favourite, mostly cause I know too many people like her and I try to get away my actual life when playing games... not a fault of the game, but rather of my own funky feelings

The story can drag at times, but the humor prevails and the characters are very likeable! Minor typos here and there but nothing to affect the overall flow of the game. Also, I'm a sucker for tsunderes

Good Points
+ Sex scenes have animations and they are not bad.
+ Most women/girls look attractive and we have a good variety of love interests.

Bad Points
- While sex scenes have animations and are kind of decent, can't say there is anything special about them, they are quite mid, animation physics, their build-up, etc, nothing about them is special at all.
- Despite the story having potential and being kind of interesting, in most parts it feels boring and in other times things are mostly too mixed, ninjas, greek mythology, fantasy, along with daily stuff about humans around the MC, etc.
- The game does things too many, too many texts, too many girls/women, too many choices (especially while snooping around, etc), too many monologues, etc, and it's kind of annoying.
- We have some ''horror'' scenes, but they are not good at all, I can't see any reason why we have them at all in the first place either.
- Dialogues are either too basic, cringy, weird, or confusing.
- The game forcing you to either name your saves or press another button just to save is annoying, and nonsense, there should be an option to close named saves.
- Art style and visual quality looks old, visual quality gets some improvements at later chapters of the game at least.
- It seems the writers/DEV don't know what ''avoidable'' means, this scene is terrible example of how you shouldn't do it, MC should stop that goblin before he gets naked, strip the Yumi, and touch with his dick to her pussy, not after it...
- MC doesn't look like Twenty years old at all, he looks like 13 years old at max, and his face tattoo (the one appearing when he transforms) looks terrible.
- The first 6 chapters don't have any sound or music, it seems DEV started adding with chapter 7, but why didn't until that point? Shouldn't be that hard to add non-copyright sounds and music, or at least he could edit old chapters.

For The End
Despite the bad points I told, if you can manage to pass the first chapters, since they are quite rough, the game becomes better with the later ones, still can't see anything special about it, it's quite mid with a 2.5-3 stars rate max, but I guess you can give a try and see if it's for you or not.

What a trip! First it was really mediocre, actually pretty boring... The time and place swaps were frustrating such as the missing soundtracks. I actually needed four attemps to decide, that i'll just prepare several tabs with different soundtracks which could be somehow proper to play it at least through the first 6 chapters. But with further chapters the game evolved straight forward to better and even better contect. Im acutally pretty impressend how the developement quality increased. I was hoping for some good stuff and i was welcomed with way more better content instead.
The characters models are vivid, their characterizasion is indivdually appealing. Anabella favorite!
The story is very interesting, good choice of fantasy and greek mythology combination.
You did a good job with the soundtracks and music (chapter 7 ff.) Especially ain terms of "atmosphere" and "horror", you did a very good job. I hope you'll upgrade the first 6 at some time.
The hurmor was personally more than just appealing to me, sometimes i laughed my fckn ass off for a minute straight, somtimes just for the choice of words, sometime for the slapstick, or both, great job there! It would have been entertaining enough just for that reason to be satisfying content.
The lewd scenes are standard Illusion, they were placed into lore quite well thou... also the portfolio.. which was provided is really nice, i liked it personally a lot.
The character overview is really nice to have with all that attributes as well, but it doesnt feel like it would matter too much, for me i just use it to check which decisions provides more attributes.. if theres even a difference between "get it" or "dont", idk, i havent payed too close attention all the time, sry...
Theres a lot of choices for the player to turn down LIs, even if MC decided to a lot more further with them bygone. Personally it feels kinda obsolet to write several "menu" lines just to ask the player over again if he really wants to interact furher. If every decision to go futher with any LI would affect the lore, then it would be a good choice to have it like that thou. Maybe i just dont understand the full picture here...
The MC is pretty well written, he has his own thoughts which are relatable, also open to be identified with the player himself.
Im not a fan of horror itself, but the game provided some really good horror content, which i suprisingly enjoyed al lot.
There were some references to other games i really appreciated... I read and thought in russian accent for Sasha f.e. <3 Also didnt expected Luna and Viktor there, got me off guard, but i really liked it!
The face impressions are providing a lot more immersion to the game, the gameplay feels a lot more enjoyable.

Over all this game is more than worth to give it a try. (7.8/10)

Excellent game. One of the best stories out of any games. The game has a diverse number of different women which are all really sexy. The game has lots of content and it get's progressively better from the start. The humor is top notch also. The scenes and animation could get little better, but still it is a S tier game.

I adore this game. The story drew me in, gave me chills, made me wonder and laugh. This one I could sometimes taste and smell the atmosphere of and I like how gritty it is.

Personally I love how overpowered the MC is. It feels appropriate for who he is, and I super enjoy the unraveling of his powers and backstory. Also, it brings the opportunity to raise the danger and power of the enemies and situations he is up against. I like how this goes so far, and have no doubt it will result in crazy story developments.

To me the game is continuously sexy and cute. The renders always give me a feeling, whether it be horror, sensuality, peace, joy etc. It doesn't fall flat at any point.
This makes it satisfying to play throughout and doesn't make me wait on sex scenes for the sexual feeling. The renders are all very sexy and the graphic design is beautiful.

That does bring me to the one critique I have, which is that I experienced some of the actual sex scenes as not very satisfying and rather short or dishonoring to (the build up of) the relationship.
So for the record, the game as a whole is satisfying and I do enjoy the sex scenes as well. Just that they don't hit me as much as I would assume relatively to the rest of the game.


Of course this is just my opinion, and I still enjoyed the game and it's sex scenes a lot. But, based on what I just said, if you would want to make this individual even more happy: make less sex scenes, make them longer and focus on satisfying all of the tension that builds up to the scene, and respect the relationship that it is about.
Some of the scenes do already have this.

Even with the nuns, just seeing them there is a kind of buildup, because it sparks a lot of ideas and desires. I would rather have nothing happen with them there and have them just be sexy doormen. This keeps that buildup as tension in the long run of the game rather than releasing it for a minor act. To me it feels more satisfying when a sex scene then does come, also knowing it will be bigger and better anyway.
Or, of course, extend all scenes, but maybe that'll then be too much to work on.

First of all, I want to preface (and every new player should read this): I dont think the game is a full 5/5. I even think it is around 3/5 at the start, maybe even a bit less. It is a bit rough at the start.
BUT - it is clearly visible that the Dev improves over time when it comes to Renders, dialogue and story. And I think with this progression, the game deserves a 5/5 because the Dev will keep improving and will keep a high level of content.

The game focusses around a Ninja-Team and gets involved with Greek Mythology and Fantasy Creatures. Overall, an interesting mix which is unique from what I know. It is kinda school setting like other games, but different. It has some Horror-elements, but nothing too extreme.

The characters are unique and likeable, each of them have a different personality, even though all of them seem to be horny. Which is fine, in a H-game with focus on one male MC. It is also not bad (in universe) that the female characters fall for MC, because he is an Incubus after all and it is logical that he is good at making people attracted to him.

The only grain of salt for me would be that strength-wise MC is a bit too overpowered. He can basically do everything and while I dont mind it too much, it might get boring over time when each Challenge gets done with ease.

But overall, highly recommend the game and I also highly recommend to get over the rough start, it will get better over time.

Review for Ch.11 Public

Probably one of my favorite adult VNs I've played. The early chapters are pretty rough around the edges, but the quality drastically improves with each chapter.


Story 4/5
I think the setting of the story has some good potential. Theres a unique mix of high fantasy things like elves/nymphs/goblins with greek mythology and ninjas/kunoichi. The plot itself can be a little generic/predictable with Zycris (the MC) being very OP and will often serve as a deus ex machina. But generally most of the conflicts and story beats that occur are written in an interesting and satisfying way. The story also does a good job of getting Zycris from one H-scene to the next in a relatively beleivable manner.

The character writing overall is decent. All of the main cast have distinct and well written personalities. However, sometimes it feels like the characters will act inconsistently with who they are or are supposed to be. For example, it feels like many of the 'stronger' female characters often aren't as strong or mature as their supposed to be. Senior kunoichi or warriors will often fail in some capacity just so the MC can save the day or step up in some way whether it be a decisionmaking/leadership issue or combat/power issue. Its nice to make the MC feel powerful, but I also think it'd be good for other characters to have impact their impactful moments.

The pacing of events also feels odd in some ways. I think it was mentioned that new ninjas ideally aren't sent on any missions for their first two months, but many of the newer ninjas (especially the MC) are getting missions and promotions way faster. It would make sense for the more senior ninjas to be able to handle missions back to back, but it also seems like many of the newbies are now embarking on missions the day after they finish the last. Even with a shortage of ninjas it seems a little excessive. Having a lot of action and events is nice, but pacing/progress seems kind of fast (given the time span). I think including a couple time skips or some more training would make it more believable overall.

Also the cast is very female heavy, which is to be expected, but it feels like the only likable male character that's regularly around is Zycris. Its most noticable when in larger cities/towns that don't have some explanation as to why over 80% of the population is female.

Overall I think certain aspects of the writing are a little amateurish, but acceptable by eroge standards and improving in the latter chapters.


Visuals 4.5/5
As of Chapter 11, the visuals have improved dramatically. Characters have a nice diversity in outfits and hair styles and all of them look great! The backgrounds and environments have also gotten way better over time. The only thing is that some of the assets/outfits used can look a little too modern for the magic/medieval setting (but this becomes less noticable in later chapters). Animations are nice, if not a little glitchy or easy to skip due to how renpy handles them. There are also more animations/dynamic shots as you progress through the chapters.

I'm only taking off some points since you still have to get through the earlier chapters and some of the assets/overall cinematography is noticably worse.

H-content 4.5/5
Scenes are well animated and have a nice amount of diversity in tags. Lots of ahegao which I am a fan of. The ratio of porn to story also feels good. Theres also a gallery for past scenes. The only thing is that the distribution of scenes between all of the girls isn't super even (some get noticeably more or less than others).

Also it'd be nice to see the catalog of characters be updated with their newer outfits (or some option to show off some of the outfits they get throughout the game).

Definitely has its flaws (especially early on), but I think the positives outweigh the negatives. Also the game has no audio until chapter 7. Having some music/sfx definitely helps the later chapters a lot.

TLDR:
- quality improves greatly in later chapters
- interesting setting/story, but can be a little generic/predictable
- certain aspects of the writing can be weird, but overall its good
- nice diversity in outfits/hairstyles for the girls
- scenes are well animated and high quality, but some girls get more scenes than others

This is purely a Visual Novel. If you're looking for gameplay, there isn't any. In the VN area, this work is very well done. There's some heavy NTR, some MILF, and one "family harem" at this point , but you can choose not to partake in them.

[Story]- The dev's main focus seems to be on visual story telling. Instead of having static visuals, most scenes and characters have some animation between lines and/or picture-book-like transitions(kind of like a gif, but all within one "frame" of the scene). They also did a great job at setting the atmosphere for each chapter. It's almost movie like. The first 6 chapters did not have sound, but there's some starting from Chapter 7. It definitely makes a difference, but you can tell that the sound assets are really limited, and there's still no voice acting, which would have made it immensely better. There's also "pings" that sound when one of the characters gain "stats", which can get confusing, but you get used to it.

[Gameplay]- This VN is linear, with most choices usually only pertaining to whether you will get some action or not; and those choices are pretty obvious, so you will not be left guessing. It's also fairly simple to just use Renpy's backtrack function to see what happens with the other choice(s). I would still recommend playing with Murray's mod just to get an initial understanding of how it all works. There's some "exploration" sections within the VN that aren't meant to be a puzzle, but to add to the atmosphere/story building. It can be worthwhile to mess around with instead of skipping them. The use of transitions in the scenes is a little problematic, as you have to wait for them to play. In the early chapters, the transition speed was too slow, and in the latter chapters, it's too fast, and you tend to skip some lines when trying to click through because you're not aware of the transitions. Overall, it is a little buggy because of the way Renpy handles them.

[Scenes]- There is a gallery function, and the scenes are pretty easy to unlock, and all the choices are available during the scene replay itself.

I found all of the models to be really sexy, even for the categories that I'm not usually into. I'd say that some people may find the proportions to be unrealistic, they're all really fit.

It starts off really slow and taking awhile to get to action scenes, but as the story goes on, the MC "grows up" as an incubus and gets almost non-stop action, It is interesting that "side" characters pretty much will do the deed immediately, while with "main" characters, they do take a lot of messing around and "romancing", so that even at this point, not all of the characters have done it yet.

All of the scenes are really fluid, and there's usually an alternate angle available to most scenes. The dev has a thing with blowjobs always ruining makeup, which I'm not really into, and girls always have the white eye tongue hanging out anime face during intercourse, which I Really am not into. Some of the scene angles are not the best. But aside from those issues, I have not been disappointed with any scene in the game. Some of the initial music didn't really work well for the scenes though, but it seemed to get better after the first chapters.

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would do that. I am writing this review while just having completed Chapter 6.

Why not the 5 star rating that is so common for this game?

For all the qualities that this game has; and there are indeed many. For me it feels like Im playing a normal, non-adult visual novel with some sex scenes thrown in.
The main problem; thus far, there is barely any tension building up between the MC and the girls in the story. Sex scenes just kinda sorta happen and are therefor, not really hot.

It is a big shame, because the rest of the game really is proper good.

I originally dropped this somewhere in the very first bath scene in the lake when I simply couldn't take the silence anymore. Then one day I saw how many good reviews this game has now, and that sounds have started being implemented from chapter 7 onwards. So I decided to give it a proper chance.

Already by chapter 3 or so I was captured by the games world, the characters and the story. The blend of ninja/greek myth etc is so intriguing, and the world / story feels like better versions of shows i've watched that I wish were better.

Every character is written to act as an indiviual, the variety in the character design and personality is wide. The variation in kinks are plenty as well, and somehow the game manages to hit every single thing I like better than probably any I have ever played before, competing with at most 5 others.

There are at least 4-5 characters competing to be my favorite, and even the ones that don't really fit my preference, are written so well I can't help but adore them too.

The missions are so creative for a VN of it's kind. The lengths the developer goes to find unique scenarios each time, with twists and turns and different character combinations, settings etc is incredibly impressive to me. I found myself wishing for this game to just never end. Just make me go on a million missions. But I realize a game never ending will eventually tire out, so it's not something I actually would want. That's just how well done the missions are.

The ability for the MC to stand up for himself, and in general his distinct personality makes me really appreciate him in this day and age. He's great.

The sex scenes / kinks are all incredibly well done to me, and some of the dirty-talk is some of the steamiest stuff i've ever read. But if this was an anime without H-scenes, or a game without H-scenes, i'd still want to watch and play it. (the H-scenes ofc make it better though).

By the time the sound came on for the game, I adored it too much to worry about it anymore. But as predicted it added so much to the game, making it go from amazing, to something I just didn't want to stop playing. It adds so much to the atmosphere and the world, and now I just want it to keep expanding.

I thought i'd have a hard time reviewing something that comes this close to perfection from my subjective perspective. So I guess this became more of just an appreciation letter. However, I guess I could mention a couple things I wish were better:

First of all, ofc I would prefer the older chapters had sfx as well. However, as long as we keep going with sfx for the rest. It's not a big deal.

I would also really like it if some of the mini-games was possible to win without guessing for a long-long time or using a guide (or skipping it). I enjoy mini-games, I don't want to skip them (personally). However, without the guide here on the forum I would have 0 chance of guessing how to win the most recent torture scene. If there were some more hints making it more doable, I'd like that.

Finally, I personally really enjoy moaning sfx during H-scenes. With a voice volume-slider they could be optional, but I always give bonus points to games that have moaning.

Honestly though, yet again. Hard to criticize when all I want is more. The fact that you give so much credit to the developer of one of my other top 5 games makes me even more impressed that you both manage to be this good. Wishing for your continued success
