It's been a while since we've had a good battle fuck RPG, and hoo boy was the wait worth it. BFRPGs are my absolute favorite subgenre of H game so I was very excited when this game got translated. This game uses a deck-builder style of combat, which I know might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the mechanics are actually pretty deep once explored.
First thing I really appreciate is that the game kicks off really fast. Within minutes you're introduced to the basic version of combat, engage in your first H scene, and then those combat basics get turned on their head once the battle fuck gets introduced. Basically, you have cards that fulfill your basic JRPG suite of abilities like attacking, defending, and debuffing. Then you have your H cards that you unlock over the course of the game.
These cards trigger some surprisingly well animated sequences, especially considering this is running on RPGM. They're much better than your standard cards, as they provide superior damage and usually throw in additional effects as well.
As you progress you can gain more cards through the skill tree system, purchase/forge them in the shop, or find them as treasure. Early on you'll probably just stick every card you find in your deck, but as you accumulate powerful cards you'll start considering thinning out your deck to consistently cycle through your more powerful cards rather than bloating your deck with a lot of them. This sort of decision-making is what really makes the combat stand out from other HRPGs that try to make combat unique and interesting but ultimately fail.
The gameplay loop is also very addicting and well balanced. You don't get EXP from random encounters. Rather, you need to slowly build up your level from seducing the NPCs in town and completing quests/sub quests. This genius system prevents the player from ever getting overpowered up until maybe the endgame after you've built up the MC to be an absolute juggernaut capable of ending any encounter in turn 1. Until then, you'll be cycling between testing your abilities against stronger NPCs and dungeon crawling, all while enjoying H scenes the entire time.
The plot is fairly straightforward and the game can get repetitive at times since you'll be seeing the same attack animations repeatedly. The scenes also don't have proper cum shots, just a generic splash of jizz on the screen upon finishing. But when you get new H scenes from finishing side quests and the main story, they're all animated smoothly nonetheless and feel like proper rewards for your time. I love BFRPGs and this really is one of the best with some very clever design choices from the developer's part. I look forward to their works in the future and hope that they can learn from the shortcomings of this game.
