I downloaded the game from OP and the combat I think is before the tweaking. How do I play the most recent changes? My folder after extraction says chapter 4.

You are still missing a boulder to cross the river. You can see that the distance between the second one and the other side is way too long to jump.^^
Check the areas to the left and right. You have missed something.

You start a new game to enjoy the new additions and changes. If you use old saves, they will carry old info to the game and will override the new additions and changes.
You can also use saves from the full chapter 3, which already received the new changes. Anything before that will cause problems.

I started a new game from the downloaded file that is on the OP now. I haven't played any old versions of the game before that. Am I missing something or how do I fix?

The problem is that I downloaded the game from the OP. However, it seems the combat has not been tweaked to the changes that people have been mentioning.
The folder says chapter 4, but apparently I have an old save, but I'm not sure how this can be as I did not play any previous versions of this game
My suggestion? Delete the game, download it again, select new game and play.
There's a bug that if you play the prologue you can't save after, so play the prologue if you haven't already and when chapter one starts leave the game, start over but skip the prologue.
Wait, you aren't confusing the prologue with the actual chapters, are you? Because if you're controling children you are in the prologue.

Don't use a save file that was created before full chapter 3 was released. The old mechanics will take place instead of the new ones from chapter 3 and will make the game harder and cause bugs.

Well I'm at chapter 2 now and not too keen on replaying up to that point, especially when combat is pre-tweaked. Anyone got a save file that is post chapter 3 release? I did all the ruins too which took ages as the elves golems have way too much HP!

I can offer you mine.
Slot 4 is before deciding if you want to side with the witch or the hunters (basically start of chapter 3)
Slot 6 is at the start of chapter 4.

It's a bug in the newest build. If you haven't played the prologue yet then my suggestion would be to play it through it and when you get to the beach just make a new game and skip the prologue.
So, when will Generation One end? How many chapters will be have?Ugh, I'm gonna miss the first guy, hopefully the next one is as likeable

Btw Zion, will you add succubus animations of ch3 and 4 when ch5 is released? It feels to empty to have only the girls from ch1 and 2. Also, any offquest sex with our girls from the retinue? (Aetesse, Iole and so on)?

Yes. Aeolos is the main character for this whole Era.
What do you mean? Animations were removed from all girls. The only place I haven't taken out yet was the recollection room.
We don't work with animations anymore.

Yes, he will still be the PC. We will get another one in chapter 21 when we move to the next era. A big time skip will happen (that's already clear for us when we watch the beginning of the prologue far ahead in the future) and one of Aeolos descendants (not his son obviously, the time skip is way too big for that) will start his way to become an Adalon Hunter.
No idea if we start as a kid again, I wouldn't mind but we'll see in a few years.^^'
