How do I get over the barrier in the Underground Grove? MC says he needs help from someone but everyone that I talked to don't say shit.

Completed everything until chapter 4, needed a huge break from work and this was just the game to just do whatever.

Most of the lore is a mish-mash of other generic games, but it works here too, so some events are interesting, I do like how you don't mind killing characters that otherwise would survive impossible odds they find themselves in. The death of Klemes and the way he found the MC after he got impaled by poison and the way he again stayed back wasn't done well and I felt nothing for his death, if he even is alive. What was done with Red Winter and the rest of the tribe leaders, etc, was done beautifully, I really like Winter, Surst, and the rest of the characters, developing their dynamic was definitely a good choice, to be honest this game doesn't even feel anymore like a porn game and feels like a proper adventure game which also happens to have sex scenes.

It was extremely pleasurable to defeat all succubus, although there should have been more options for the MC to be more dominant when facing off succubus seeing as how Iron Will is the only thing you have and you can have some fun with them before breaking off their assault. The combat is serviceable, I don't consider turn base a good combat system anymore since it doesn't really offer true tactical or strategical options like real time strategy games, but I understand why it was done, it's serviceable.

I see that there are 3 different types of art, the first version of the succubus art is... serviceable, but too flat for my liking, it has too much of that modern anime aesthetics that I hate, the chapter 4 art of the succubus is much much better as it offer more shader to the skin, whoever that artist is he should keep improving his art and adding just a tad more shader to his art and it would be solid. The last type of art is also nice, but too cartoony, I see that it replaced the portrayal of the MC character when you go to the menu to that type of art, the same goes for fishing, hunting, etc, it's a nice art don't get me wrong but it still needs more improving.

Writing is... solid for what it is, there are too many mistakes that needs to be rectify and sentence structure also needs some work, tonality also needs to be added, and more characterization, I don't know if you need help with that.

The red riding hood succubus was delicious, let me tell you, you have a good knack for scenarios, I hope we meet her again and get away with doing mischievous things to her, while she gets more and more frustrated the more she fails at her plot.

Overall your game is good man, much better than what some others do and fail at, keep up the good work since you're actually creating something and not being stupid like us criticizing everything, but we do so for the love of it and wanting to see your work be even better. Bless.

I don't want to read the whole thread, but has anyone pointed out how dumb the balance is in this game? There is 0 reason to use any move other than a damaging move. Did a retard design the combat?
retard is a strong word right there but i get what you say,combat usually however isnt good in h games,the story however makes up for it,if you find it unbalanced just use an save editor or rush to blue thunder and spamm it.
Hopefully combat is patched in chapter 5.

You just said combat is bad in h-games, now you hope for a fix and at the same time the story must remain strong. Care to explain how this should work and look in detail? People also get angry about the many cutscenes who can appear every few minutes if you know your way through the game. Want that fixed too by removing them?

If you change stuff again and again it will never get finished. That's like being a painter and finding flaws at the wall your are supposed to paint, taking forever to finish the job and in the end the wall is suddenly twice as thick as before.

Zion made a few mistakes in the beginning, like having a normal grind system with XP gain, the animations and other small but time intensive thingies. Can happen, no project is flawless and imo he tried to fix it as good as possible.

He would do well to focus on keeping the artworks at a constant level (even though the endless debate if Kain or V is the better artist will never end) and provide an interesting story. More is out of the question with the workforce he has at his disposal, the available income and the time he is wiling to invest each day.

Doing a combat overhaul will eat even more time and then he will be called out for being unreliable, lazy or milking Patreon. :D It's easy to expect the outcome of that if you have seen it in so many game threads. Some people want stuff now, in perfect condition, devs private life doesn't matter and not posting something for a week can mean abandoned project.

So yeah, can't wait for that big combat overhaul. :Kappa:

Yep. I already did a combat overhaul.

I didn't reply to that guy considering how rude he was, but I'd like to know how he got passed without using Iron Will, without using pommel strike and without using the blue flame and blue thunder and without using herbs, considering that all he did was attacking.

Anyway, I hope to improve in the second game and so on.

My objective isn't creating a revolutionary gameplay system, just a passable one that reflects the lore and story well. That's all.

1 of all combat in h games is by default bad,that is uncontestable,here with SucCov its understandable,not only is this one of the first games he has made and is not finished yet but he has consistently sacrificed gameplay for story and its not necesarly a bad thing,its more up to personal taste but again once he gets exp and more playtesting is done combat will get better but probably will not be good by normal games (non h) standard,even MGQ Paradox doesnt have an robust combat system but makes up by changable classes,lots of mobs,lots of items,etc.

Zion has made more than a few mistakes,sugarcoating will only make it worst,admiting a mistake is paramount to fixing it,not to say he has done major mistakes,its understandable for someone at the beggining.
No project is flawless and that is the point,we should never be complacent,we should strive to always improve our work and try to reach perfection,because perfection is a process not an destination.

more useless conjecture,Zion so far has a good track record and if he is serious and posts updates regularly unlike most of those devs and threads you mentioned,where they dont post regular updates and those they do are vague,expuses pile like an tower and so on.
Combat overhaul would be worth it,maybe not immediatly but it would be apparent in time.

There is a huge difference between me answering someone I know that has given me good insight in the game before and was rude in a comment and me answering a random who just popped up saying "u retard, f u and ur game!!!"

I won't waste time with those people. At best I waste my time and at worse I create drama.

It already takes around 4 months with the current team (if everyone is healthy and ready to work) to finish one chapter in SC. Now you compare SC with Paradox and its absurd level of grinding for the sake of having more variety. Do you think those four months will be enough for each chapter if Zion goes crazy and tries that too for SC? Even if he only tries a small portion of that he will mess up his release schedule. Do you think that will sit well both with patrons and non-supporters?

People have claimed that there are too many cutscenes or that the standard monsters are annoying and should be more than just trash enemies.

Where do you see sugarcoating or lots of mistakes? Zion said that quite some time went into reworking existing mechanics. He learned from it and went on. Now he found his balance between offering a combat system with some tactical elements and working on other elements and you suggest that the combat needs an overhaul. Am I the only one who thinks this is absurd?

Again, read previous posts. Things like "game will never get finished, art is a mess, milking Patreons, etc." is in the room. Did I claimed that this is true? Nope, I think some people are just angry or in quest mode, taking a dumb on this project whenever they feel like it. It's easy to find all the flaws if you search for them and have a problem with the project from the start.

Let them talk, the majority of people who support and stand behind this project matter and not many people would still support this game if it would be considered to be doomed. Ofc people who don't support can provide useful suggestions and help too but they don't allow the devs to go forward. Nice words and written text won't pay the bills.

Maybe SC won't get finished, maybe it will. People are free to stop their support if they have lost faith but confronting the devs again and again with a "could be scenario" won't fix anything.

How many attempts do you think it will take until everyone is happy with the combat system? Pretty easy to answer, endless attempts. With some luck you can satisfy around 50 % of all the players. There is no perfect way and if Zion does it again it will eat lots of time and break old save files. People will get angry about that but hey, another assumption from me, right?
