Neat little game that is directly inspired by the slay the spire game. Pixel animations are great and the gameplay is engaging enough to replay the whole game a few times. I mostly used a screen reader to translate all the text.
Expanded Review:
1. Similar games: Slay the Spire
-Unlike Slay the Spire, there's no post-game unlocks, bonuses, or etc. It's basically "perma death". You get extra cards in the run itself via completed battles or the merchant. One thing it does different from Slay the spire is that the player can loot "rocks" that gives bonuses to a certain card it is applied to. Otherwise it is obviously less polished than Slay the spire
2. Difficulty (Pretty Hard)
-I've only played the hard difficulty, and have some experience with Slay the spire. the whole run can be a breeze until the boss if you get pretty good "relics" and synergistic cards, and the enemies difficulty scale pretty well when progressing through the forest. The boss however is such a difficulty spike from all the previous fights prior. it almost feels out of place. The player needs a combination of very good sustain (to avoid getting literally one shoted) and damage as a prolonged fight will just make the fight even more difficult.
3. H-system (Mash to sometimes escape)
Pretty simple H-mechanics, and imo done rather well. Enemies occasionally throw taunts/pose moves to allure the MC. If the MC gets horny enough, the enemies do H moves. the player can escape some H moves by mashing but against all major enemies you can't escape.
4. Gallery | Recollection Room (Tags: Succubus, Cat girl, Slime, Zombie (?), Kissing, Boobjob/Mouth job)
- There's around 20 pixel art battle animations and around a dozen event pixel animations, which are slightly more detailed than the battle animations. the player needs to encounter each event/enemy to unlock their scene in the gallery. This may be annoying for some as the player can go through multiple play throughs without encountering specific enemies. Finishing the game doesn't automatically unlock the whole gallery
5. Length (Short, but replayable)
- Each run can be completed in maybe less than an hour. But due to how the game works, it is enjoyably repeatable a few times. There's not enough card/enemy variety to justify several playthroughs.
4/5 great base game, wish it had more content.
