There's a lot to unpack here at v0.2.6. To start with, there's a lot of complaint about the gameplay loop and those issues aren't invalid. I personally don't mind the esoteric progression, so long as we get a new game+ to carry over our non-key items from whatever fail state we reach. (That'd let us spend more time parsing how to progress rather than gathering the items needed to do so; I see that 6 cod to upgrade the beach bar waiting for us.) For what it's worth, so far that aspect disappears entirely once you get onto the point of no return of the branch we have.
The next major complaint is the other most divisive one: the art style. There's no getting around it, either it'll send you packing or it won't. Once I got past the earliest scenes with some hands that were upside down, either I'd gotten used to it enough that I stopped caring, or the artist had undergone a dramatic improvement. It's also possible that since the bull was less prominent in many of the later shots that there was just less reason to take note of it. Don't know, don't care.
Because the writing is what really makes or breaks a scene comprised mostly of stills. And there's a lot of it. Genuinely, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the file size was text and I'm good with that. It helps that the writing is actually intelligible (some grammatical issues, certainly, but none that affect comprehension even at the worst of times), but it's actually pretty good as a bonus. I like that there's a lot going on, especially in the later scenes, as it gives us a chance to see how the bull is actually manipulating her and the mental effect. Later on it'll give an opportunity for more clear distinction between the bulls from one to the next, rather than being just an assortment of douche-canoes with magic dicks. But there is something to be said for replayability and the value of the quick fap when you are revisiting a scene. I don't know that there is a clear solution here, but if a choice has to be made, I lean toward the wordier developed scenes.
The side-dishes we've been introduced to so far have been nice, and while it seems from what we've got with the one and what's been teased with the other that they're going to be inherently tied into one bull's route each. There may be some room for crossover with bulls with later girls (maybe a rivalry angle between Shion and a girl or two girls), but I won't hope for that.
There's some talk of the maps being big and empty, but that feels like a symptom of being early in development. As more routes get added there'll be more opportunities to put side-events on them and give us things to find/do. The trick with that is to not overpopulate the world with things that are of no consequence to a route you aren't aiming for on a given playthrough. I just know I want more things to happen while I'm on the phone with Shion.
All-in-all, a promising start. Flawed, surely, but not in any way that can't be recovered. Give it a try; you might find it worth the effort.
