So in actual dev news Sploosh posted this the other day, it gives some idea of progress on Jenny's reposing. Most of the stuff he brings up as road blocks are either done or close to it, both the Diary and PC were listed as separate task from Jenny's re-wiring and have been closed. The flurry of activity in the "Changes over 24 hours" section of the dev tracker over the last week were for the TV and Peep hole.

The hell did they do to make the peep hole so goddamn complicated and why? I know DC added in a new shot for preggo Jenny, but otherwise it was "Jenny asleep", "Jenny masturbating", or "nothing", depending on the time of day. The same goes for the TV and the laptop, there wasn't much to do there because it was window dressing to provide a bit of amusement in the middle of their respective events. What possessed them to tie them into a new system so complex that they need to constantly find "creative solutions"? "Creative solutions" are what got them into this mess in the first place!

Far from future-proofing their code, I'm genuinely worried that they're building something so full of spaghetti bullshit that each new update is going to be even harder to incorporate. I'd be thrilled to be proven wrong, but the more they disclose about the dev progress the more it sounds like they're developing a Ferrari engine to drive a go-cart.

if they have to come up with creative solutions for a ren py game again i would mentally prepare myself for tech update part 2 a couple years down the line

I guess the problem in general happens because they want to please those, who want to get as many girls as possible in one playthrough and as such don't want to block content and because they want to enable pregnancies for everybody. If they'd simply create mostly liniear storys (aka one playthrough per one main girl) without x dependencies on other stories and limit pregnancies to 2 or 3 girls, these problems likely would't exist.

Removing choices and connecting stories was a bad deciscion from the get go (actually my reason why I stopped being a patron years ago) and now it seems to haunt them again.

Then again, as long as DC is drawing stuff in the meantime, it ultimately doesn't matter that much.

The fact they are choosing to insert "creative solutions" in a tech update that was supposed to iron out all the previous creative solutions that had turned the code into spaghetti implies that they have learned nothing.

Alright so I'm not crazy right? I remember some event where you spy on a neighbor with someone (Erik?) and their mom invites you upstairs to the bathroom (her name was like Mrs White or something and looked like a pornstar). That was a thing right before right? I looked through changelogs but couldn't find any mention of it. If anyone knows, can you refresh me on the event and if it still exists?

I care about is odette last version i played was the version right before pre tech update 1 ... Some one drop a spoiler for me ... Did we ever get more than just the graveyard Halloween event/motorcycle man i hope they have developed alot more for her

This game used to have black bars. When I tried it previously. I think it was a resolution issue. Can anyone who played the latest version tell me if that thing is fixed or if it's still there?

The black bars you are talking about are visible if you are playing it full screen on a modern 16:9 / 16:10 monitor because the art was made using the standard 4:3 display ratio that was default for Ren'Py years ago when Summertime Saga was first made. Or if you are playing on a mobile device.

It's one of the reasons the Tech Update has taken over 2 years... and will take longer... all the nearly 20,000 images either needed revised or reposed - or both - from 4:3 to 16:9 display ratio. Until the Tech Update is released, the black bars will be there if you play on a mobile device or full screen on a modern monitor.

Status update (July)!
To better help fans understand the ongoing development, monthly status updates are being posted here on Patreon (at the end of each month) with a listed summary of all the work that's been done for each department. It won't list every single small change, but at the very least show the broad strokes of what's currently being done. This will paint a clearer picture of the development progress and perhaps get a feeling of how close we are getting to a release each month. Hopefully this will make some of you feel at ease with some of the questions you've had.
That being said, here's the status update for this past month!
Art:
  • The new museum location will now be open to visit (lobby only for now). All day time variants were created during the last week's live streams.
  • Continued assisting the Code/Posing devs with optimizing art and fixing inconsistencies. Such as unused art assets , missing shadows, missing character button variants and so on.
  • Debbie laundry basket scenes and buttons improved and consistent now.
  • Improved park bush assets and added tree overlay for button.
  • Fixed Melonia home cabinet in kitchen and added overlay for button.
  • Last inventory icons finished.
  • Various old background touchups.
  • New sign at Comic store when characters are not yet present for quest (Bridget).
  • Jenny computer pictures have been redone to match art quality across game and also used as wallpapers.
  • Multiple assets renames to function with new codebase.
  • Fixed and improved 2 cutscenes in Diane's garden.
  • Created dusk variants to multiple background locations.
  • Debbie basement buttons rework and new art.
  • New Jenny scene leading up to the movie date has been added.
  • Two new attic spy hole scenes were added for Jenny, and 1 was fixed.
  • 30+ new assets were created to add Jenny pregnancy body assets earlier in her story.
  • Judith school locker improvements.
  • Few cutscenes have been redone to match current art quality and currently being added as wallpapers as well (Roxxy and Judith respectively)
  • Daily live streams for art are still active (week days) starting around 2:00PM Eastern Time (ET) where you can watch me work and ask questions.
Code:
  • Rebuilt the in-game computers (belonging to Anon and Jenny) in widescreen.
  • Reorganised, split, and edited PSDs pertaining to computers.
  • Wired in one-time remarks from Anon while browsing the computers.
  • Created various equivalent vector assets for use with the computers.
  • Ensured computers will be translatable and text-to-speech friendly.
  • Updated the fibre-tip pen effect used in Jenny's diary.
  • Reimagined a text tag for underlining typos (used in Jenny's laptop).
  • Added a text tag for custom emojis.
  • Upgraded Ren'Py to 8.1.1, and updated the CI pipeline to handle Android key changes.
  • Revisited asset scaling and made it transparent to most other code.
  • Expanded the asset pipeline to handle pixel art, video, and vector assets.
  • Added information to help Ren'Py optimise certain game areas for performance.
  • Improved a situation where mobile users would be unable to hide the keyboard.
  • Eliminated a class of save issues related to showing dialogue over screens.
  • Resolved an issue where scrolling would cease to work in the phone UI.
  • Fixed various logic issues in the first half of Jenny's route.
  • Started work on the latter half of Jenny's route, which remains in progress.
Posing:
  • 100% of Jenny's route has been through the reposing.
  • Finishing up the Girlfriend Experience and Jenny's Sex Scenes is the last things left to wrap up, plus minor tweaks.
  • A few minor changes to Eve's Route (now at 99% completion)
  • One out standing issue with Iwanka before finishing Main Route 2 completely.
  • Continued with revisions and fixes for posing in Debbie's route
  • Identified several art glitches and requested corrections. Debbie's lewd scenes are in progress.
  • Added more files with framework for wiring Jenny, and started on the Jenny wiring.
  • Requested and added new dialogues required by updated Debbie logic.
  • Added dialogues and minor corrections to the first day tutorial.
  • Reposing the remaining portion of the first Main story arc, Maria, Tony, Tina and Josie is also in progress.
  • Resolved problems with assets and logic tests on Consuela's route.
Writing:
  • Currently assisting Code with re-wiring story flow (mainly Jenny).
