tl;dr: The progress bar will drop this week as we reorganise remaining tasks to provide better visibility leading up to the release of Tech Update.

This is because progress bar is task-based, and not all tasks are created equal... A task can encapsulate work spanning anywhere from hours to months, but they all count for the same percentage...

So on to what we plan to do about it. We will meet this coming week to try and find a better way to represent the remaining tasks specifically with a view to keeping the progress bar more representative going forward...
So, basically what we've been saying in this thread (first opined by Username7) for many months. Huh.

While I'm here - 95th posting of my FAQ since February 2022, below.

The progress bar going backwards is not a big deal. The amount of work doesn't change it's just the way it got represented is going to change. It was or waiting for the % to slowly increase or for it to be set back and see the % increase faster.

Who had "progress bar going backwards" on their SummerScamSaga bingo card?
It's not like it hasn't happened at least twice before (see #15 in my FAQ above). Also, it really isn't unusual in projects for that to happen - even actually having to go back and redo work already marked as complete. Thirdly, as Chaos_Alfa states - progress, in this case, isn't actually going backwards... it just will look like it, based upon the percentage because they are going to try to better define how much each of the remaining tasks contribute to completing the tech update - rather than all tasks having the same percentage, no matter what amount of work is involved. Finally, if you are a subscriber - you can stop at any time, if you haven't already. If you're not, like me, you are scammed out of nothing.

Now to wait and watch the further posts of others who will come in to whine/bitch/moan/complain that they won't be getting their rocks off for free anytime soon. Even though many posts in this thread have repeatedly reasoned they shouldn't expect anything earlier than Spring 2024 - if not much later.

I legitimately forgot this game existed. Then I'll see an update out of the blue like ICSTOR or HHG not too long ago, and remember, oh yeah...forgot about this one. I'm honestly way more hyped about Demon's Deals at this point when it comes to drawn art than some tech update that's going to easily take a year and a half and contribute little to nothing as far as content goes.

depending on how much the progress bar is going to get backwards it's going to be hilarious. DC defenders will have to do some overtime i guess.

but yeah a regressing progress bar is a good kick in the nuts as a present for all the pay pigs on the first year no update anniverary

That is because nobody reads these threads, they go on the Kompas website, look at the progress-bar, see that it has gone backwards since the last time they checked and they come here to release their coomer rage.

I only came here because I happened to catch the status-update as it dropped and I wanted to see coomers be angry and the hamster-wheel of cope spin in the supporters brains.

This Ren'py game has received north of one million dollars since the tech-update was announced 2 years and 7 months ago, either this DarkCookie guy is an incompetent fool incapable of managing a development team, or he is pretending to be one in-order to keep the checks coming in - either way, fuck this game.

So basically it took a year to add just the intro for potential Judith content and do a bunch of useless redraws for assets and shit no one cares about. This whole year was just making the intro for "future content" for characters :ROFLMAO:, come on guys give him another year to redraw the ocean and update the assets for the library. That's what people really want :ROFLMAO:.

Multiple AAA games have gone into production and completed, multiple renpy games have started and completed, while this game has still been in "pre-tech" status with millions in funding. It's funny to think that this was the same dev that used to release updates on the 29th of every month like clockwork.

It reminds me of the Omori development that took many years to release that had many backers angry about the delay and lack of communication (they're probably still salty).

When it finally came out it stopped many people's mouths, perhaps it happened with the tech update.
Anyway, the game itself has enough quality.
