The game is excellent in its current state. There are well-fleshed (heyooooo) out characters with distinct arcs that lead players to vicariously enjoy some form of virtual sexual congress with over 30 ladypersons while playing as the Main Character - and you can patch it so three of those fuckables are MC's family! It is well-written and funny, which makes it entertaining and engaging in a way that's not common for games of this genre. I feel it is the best h-game I've ever played.
It has not been updated for...... three years? Two-and-a-half years? A good long while. I personally regard the game as more or less 'complete' as it is, and everything that's been added since around v0.15* or so is essentially DLC. Expansion content. YMMV, but I guess that's a big part of why I don't get my ass all honked out over how much money the developer is or is not making.
* Don't quote me on that version number, the point is (for my time investment) once you can bang the family the story of a game of this sort is over. Once the main character can have a threesome with his Mother and Aunt, and impregnate his Sister......... I mean, why would you even go to your prom much less care who your date was? MC essentially has on-demand sex to choose from three highly desirable ladypersons, one of whom pays you money to bone her. You'd be too tired to ever leave your fucking house.

according to patreon last update 31 oct 2022 hence the date listed above,what was it 3 small updates in 2022(dev calls them small)this game is great,was great before 2022.shame really

This means that there is still non-code related stuff to do for the Rhonda update?
Man wasn't this update's main focus on the code/tech stuff? Why not take the long time it has taken to implement all of the new quality of life stuff for the tech update and try to finish on the meantime the writing for the next couple of updates?
My best guess is that DC has been busy with expanding the existing art into the 16:9 format, but still it seems unreasonable.
Anyway, I won't complain, I've given my money to DC in the past but since I am not giving him any more money until he starts dropping updates more often then I guess I don't have the right to complain, I got my money's worth for the time I have put into this game.
Just my two cents.
Let me see if I understand the dilemma here. You supported the dev with a monthly subscription fee for presumably a good long while, during which time he clearly misled his supporters about the timetable of the releases of updates for his game (we're now about 14 months past the release of the last update to Summertime Saga), and you as a result stopped paying him for the service he wasn't providing.
Why aren't you allowed to complain? Maybe nobody cares what you think, and maybe it doesn't even make you feel better about the money you wasted, but you have paid for your right to complain and more. If you like, compare it to the cost of Starfield. Starfield costs $70. Anybody who paid for Starfield and didn't like it has the right to complain. Well, if you paid at least $70 for Summertime Saga over the time you supported its Patreon, I think you have every fucking right to ream DC, metaphorically speaking, for his shitty business practices. I think you have the right to complain if you paid any amount for what is now clearly a scam, too, but I think $70 is a very meaningful threshold for the point where you have bought the right to complain if you're worried you're a freeloader, as it is the going price for a new and (presumably) complete AAA video game right now.
The standard that only people who are currently paying a $5/$10 monthly subscription for an indie porn game get to complain (especially since those people are least likely to complain because then they look dumb) sucks. Complain! Complain away! You have my blessing and encouragement, and anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't have an opinion worth listening to.

The game is only free because it's crowdfunded but it's not really free either, in the sense that people had to support it over time for it to remain free. If everyone stopped supporting it because "it's free" then the game would get shut down tomorrow.
The people who come into the thread and complain about how shitty the development is and how they no longer support the patreon, are as valid as the people who continue to give money for wallpapers
