I'm happy when artists earn well from their work, especially an artist with a big family like DC. He's earned 520k between the last update and this one.

However, 7 months between releases is something i hope we don't see again, that turnover is ridiculous considering his size and resources.

In the end it seems like DC has decided that he wants to draw his own game (unless the perfect person comes around) and that's more or less what patrons can expect and that should be the baseline on which somebody pledges money. After all, that's the situation for more than 3 years by now and there's no real excuse to be surprised.

I mean, you wouldn't blame your favourite band or singer that they don't release 150 songs per year instead of 10 to 20 just because, just because they suddenly make millions instead of peanuts. People wouldn't expect them to hire other singers who may be able to sing and play like them, just to get more songs. The output of individual people simple doesn't scale like that, yet people demand it all the time, just because it's a game.

Sure, people can say that they won't give money to DC, which is a totally legit argument and I haven't see anybody who is saying otherwise. I stopped pledging a long time ago, too, but I don't really see the reason why he should change his ways just because there's more money in play.

The comparison with ICSTOR was always really dumb, there are things that DC could do to improve the development speed, but the dude is always working on the game. I think he is just trying to do too much with a very small team.

OK, let me try to follow the logical thread, here: (1) this game is beautiful and super successful, albeit slow to update, so (2) we should encourage people not to support it in order to teach DC a lesson and make him produce faster, lower quality updates by (3) complaining on F95Z. Huh!? How do (2) and (3) improve (1)?

Most porn game devs make a pittance on an hourly basis. DC's success encourages people to try their hand developing porn games who otherwise wouldn't think of it, improving the overall quality of these games and involving more people. Resenting that success is just dumb and self-defeating, if you like these games. Would _What a Legend!_ exist without DC's demonstration that you can make a great deal of money in hand-drawn 2D porn games?

If you don't like the frequency of DC's updates, or you resent the amount of $$ he makes, don't support him... you can still play the game for free!

I am annoyed by the infrequency of DC's updates, too -- but I certainly don't resent his success. More power to him!

There are some people that only play 2d games and there aren't many of those. I think that is one of the reasons why people act like this way. I saw people complaining about the same stuff in the thread of the game sex note.

You still yet have to see the 7 months between releases. If you count the Odette Halloween update, it's about 5 months in a week, and if not it's still two weeks until 7 months have passed.

"Full time" is so ridiculously subjective, that you really can't start looking at averages from specific countries and actually expect a game dev to fill those average hours.

In the context of this discussion, I've always taken 'full time' to mean 'quit my day job and only do game dev', as opposed to spending X hours per week.

I have absolutely nothing to back this opinion up, but I think he set that $6,000/mo as an aspirational/unrealistic goal, and was caught by surprise when his Patreon sailed past that mark. I think he's making an absurd amount of money - and good for him, I'm not one of the moaners - and he never imagined he would find himself in this situation.

Well, it's not really a problem, it's just the fact that the game has a 4:3 resolution. But no, the widescreen version is for the update after the next one, so you'll hava to wait a few more months.
