Ren'Py - Summertime Saga [v21.0.0 wip.4468] [Kompas Productions]

Great dialogue and story in so far as the characters are concerned as there is little in the way of the main storyline at this point. The main storyline does seem pretty standard but has a charm to it. The characters are all pretty likable and the situations the main character is placed in are often humorous and exciting. The art is wonderful. The animations though satisfying leave a few desires. It's completely forgivable as it is quite a complicated task. Each update has left me satisfied and in anticipation of upcoming developments. The humor in this game is perverted and childish, but not so much to be a turn-off.
Easily one of the best-crafted adult games out there and makes sophisticated use of the Renpy application, though I can't help but wonder if an alternate engine would have been better suited. Something like Unity.
In any regard, this game definitely deserves the support it has on Patreon and more.

Definitely give it a try.

Pros : Quality of content is great, story is funny, an entire idea of the construction of the gameplay is top level.

Cons: Lots ant lots of incest crap without any option to disable it, some girls are portrayed as not attractive to me at all, ie saggy boobs, ugly face etc.

Update '24: First Tech release. And it's... 2 years, being one of if not the highest grossing adult game in progress at the moment, to have almost all content removed, not added removed, with vague promises of a long process to return it, with little to nothing new on the horizon, from an inconsistent dev. It sucks to do but this 5 star game, which dropped to 4 and then 3, has to be marked a 2 now until they show they can actually restore what they took and begin adding content again.

Update (PreTech I and II era), reducing to 3 stars: While the art and concepts are still great, recent versions will not run on many users computers. The dev team had comments and details regarding the issues available through different communication mediums, acknowledging a few, yet never resolved the issue in several months. While I hope they finally resolve the issue when they're done with the tech patch, for now, and if they never do, a game that can't be easily played can't be a 5 anymore. They make too much to produce a game that's less compatible with many users computers than games from much smaller studios.

One of the best and highest quality adult games out now. The art is unique and sexy, the game play fluid and the bugs get fixed, the mods plentiful, and wow let's talk about that art again. If you haven't played it play it, if you have played it... well yeah it's one main flaw is very slow progress given it's income so you probably haven't missed much since last time you played ( lately they've been neutering some scenes to make the MC softer in concept but the changes aren't too big).

A master piece the art is flawless story is interesting the characters are well drawn . There is grinding involved but it is worth it in the end the only thing i hope is that in future updates they utilize more of the Asian characters

Have enjoyed this game for what seems like years now. Wait...it has been years. Great game! I'll admit that I only play games like these for one reason, the story of course! And Summertime Saga doesn't disappoint. Oh yeah, excellent naughty bits as well.

I am a little confused by this one tbh. I was expecting this to be the best game on this site or at the very least be something special. It basically left me wondering what all the fuss is about.

Art- The art is really good. It gives it it's own look and some of the scenes are great. They knocked it out of the park art wise on the whole.

Story- The story is average it's the sort of thing you'd find in many Ren'py vns. Not necessarily bad but also not up there with the genuinely well written games.

Gameplay- Then there's the gameplay which is tedious and grindy. For long stretches this game just isn't fun. Since the story didn't suck me in this was exacerbated.

So basically good art, variable scenes and kinda boring gameplay. An average adult game outside of the art. I will say there is a decent amount of content but I kinda expect that from the games that have been out there for 2-3 years.

I'd still suggest giving it a try, I do not regret playing it at all and I'm clearly in the minority when it comes to been underwhelmed by it. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was basically just left kinda surprised. I expected to rip my dick of in a fapping frenzy . Instead when I exhausted all the content I felt like wait what that's it? When there's games like depraved awakening, city of broken dreamers, Being a DIK, acting lessons on patreon and here just to name a handful that are arguably better or look like becoming better this just doesn't seem anything special.

SS is a promising game that has lost its way in the past two updates. The fundamental elements of this game are strong: wonderful graphics; a lush world of storylines; easy gameplay/navigation. It's easy to get sucked in and be invested in the MC and female NPCs.

But the past few updates (Roxy, Diane, and Jenny) show how the game lost its way and balance. The Roxy update is praised not just because of its many new scenes, but because it added depth to 3 characters whose relationship and tone with the MC changed over time. It really showed the game moving forward.

In contrast, part of the criticism with the Diane and Jenny updates is this lack of change in relationship and character development. Other than a one-off tender scene, Jenny remains an selfish, money-grubbing bitch who has it out for the MC for some reason despite many interactions between the two. This makes no sense.

Relatedly, the pregnancy sequence makes no sense. I'm a big impregnation guy, and the kink appeals to me not just in knocking a woman up, but seeing how others react to the (forbidden) pregnancy and how pregnancy/kids change the MC-female NPC's relationship over time. There's some promise of this when the mother and aunt catches the MC and Jenny fucking...but this is never mentioned again by any of the three. It'd be a lot hotter if it forces the mother to have "a talk" with the siblings to figure out what it's going on and how it affects them as a: 1) family; 2) her own MC relationship; 3) as a harem. SS is heading for a harem ending, but a harem is only truly a harem if all the women know and acknowledge each other's roles.

Instead of storylines dealing with forbidden relationships and the complications of having kids, we get an overengineered impregnation chance wheel, retouched graphics that don't add much, and unavoidable cow cosplay. These are distractions from the true appeal of SS: the story. I'm fine with putting in new things/cutting stuff out (the barn, the loss of the nightcrawler scenes) if they clean up an outdated storyline or introduce new characters like Lucy, Vee, and Grace. But spending so much time on things that don't change the story is a poor choice of money/time resources, especially given that the game has inherent structural problems like re-usable saves that need to be addressed, or patrons who wonder why the heck updates are taking so long.

4-stars for now. But if the story progression and character development continue to be under-served, it's going down.

Good graphics, funny and interesting story lines, easy to understand and master game play and adult themes. Has a lot of the things that I look for in the games I play. Plus there is that nudity thing, eh?

I started playing this game in december 18'. What a great game. i got as far as i could in about a week (about 7 hours). Great animations fun story. i really hope they expand on some of the more minor characters stories. i really hope they have a new update soon. been really hoping see more. its almost 5 months now. i guess you can not rush greatness.

Much higher quality than most 'visual novels' like this. Writing, exploration, modern setting, consistent art-style, etc. After the beginning you can usually pursue the characters you like and ignore the ones you don't.

What's holding this back from five stars is that it still does not have save-compatibility (coming soon), and according to the developers themselves this will take several more years to complete. Right now I'm giving it four stars.

If you have not played it, I would possibly recommend to forget about it for a few years until you hear it's complete.

Summertime Saga is my favorit game, i love the story, the design is amazing and the character are unique. the team that created this game is very talented. I'm waiting for the new update, eagerly await!

Hand drawn artwork is alright(not my personal favorite looking art style but still well done for what it is) The story is interesting enough to keep you playing and there is a ton of things to do in the game with quite a lot of characters too.
Shame you have to wait for your personal favorite characters story to be done in an order that they were voted and updates are slow but not much can be done about that with the amount of people they have working on the game. No save compatibly or a way to skip to the newest content is just silly.

Been watching this game since it's earlier days and it's really come far with plenty more to go according to it's creator DC. While the story isn't some great written tale, it is simple, fun, funny and hot and that's exactly what you should be looking for in the story for these types of games. The art is amazing and has improved recently in the past few updates to even greater detail. Plenty of content and characters. The only cons would be the bugs every new update now and then that may halt your progression, the long development cycle between updates, and the main complaint, the issue of not being able to use your saves from prior versions. Despite these cons the game still gets 5 stars particularly for it's art, characters and content, which out weights the downsides.

Propably one of the best game I ever play in that kind og games. Even the cartoon graphics gave a funny look so it's a very pleasant environnement. The main character is not really a big pervert and all the situations seems to happens by luck, fate or accident. Yes it's a porn game, but a lot of situations are very erotic. The favorite game of all.
