Oh, I fully expect it to have no new content.

And that's my point. For the longest time before the tech update began, the bottle neck was always the hand drawn art.

Now, the art has been (mostly?) completed, and the code / posing is going to be the bottle neck.

(I'm not sure why they cant figure out the rigging system for posing first, allowing the art assets to be worked on fully while the rest of the code is worked on, but that sounds like a project management failure)

But, unless my understanding is off, the entire point of the tech update was:

1) add wide screen
2) make the code more robust for adding new content.

#1 has largely been done, the assets ready to go, unless i'm mistaken?

#2... well, again, you can say it's 'done', but until you add new content, you really can't prove it was actually successful.

If they release the tech update with just wide screen, and it takes *another* 6 months to finally release Rhonda, then the tech update did nothing.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope it takes no more than a month and updates start flying out and they can prove the naysayers wrong.

But given it's taken them years on a Ren'py game, i'm not optimistic.
Well, it was more than simply minimizing the update into 2 points... but here were the original goals: #67,771. That all said - since that time and all that time means that there has been a lot more to the tech update (either in work or in scope) that originally expected.

It will take much more than a month and updates will never be "flying out" for this product. Best you can hope is 3 months (2-5 months - about like it was before the tech update) on average after, whenever it is, the tech update is released and the bugfixes for it follow, before any content update.

yeah coding sounds simple but when you add up all the variables and try to get them to function inside a unified construct it aint as simple as people think every time you change one things it changes how that thing affects many other things and then they have to be fixed too and then rinse and repeat for each line of code you trying to fix.

Its why having the ability to project how a line of code will function along side or interact with other lines of code is so difficult and frankly even the best coders in the world have trouble with this, it's why game Dev takes so much time. Its like a jigsaw puzzle where the shape of the pieces keeps changing... it no wonder code monkeys go insane....

Hell even OS Dev if you look at micro sloft they can come up with a basic working model it takes them many years to fix the damn OS and once its fixed they start making next gen OS almost always using the the improved frame work of the last OS... A billion dollar company with seemingly endless amounts of capital still fails and patches the fuck out shit till forever...

Take the example above GTA5 they writing for the PS and also OS bet the hang up is coding graphics aint that hard , music aint that hard... Coding is the bitch all of it... Bet

Dev is bringing in about 60-70k a month last time I checked and apparently hasn't hired extra help to code... He could split up the code and hire people to work and fix instead of doing it by himself. It's obvious he is either milking this for all he can or is too prideful to hire people for help. I don't blame him for milking, like imagine getting 70k a month doing less than bare minimum. Glad I never subbed to Patreon.

*pokes head into thread, sees it's the same "blah, blah, updatelessness, milking, blah, blah, money, blah blah" sniping back and forth between defenders and attackers that it's been since... whenever/forever*

cya in a few months after the new year, plenty of other games to play until something actually happens here.

i just come here and watch the shit show. seems like this is a usual occurrence in porn games where, the devs milk and scam mfs. For example, bone tales the manor, something unlimited... etc. It's insane.
Bones tales the manor is the literal father of devs milking and scamming mfs. The fucking goat. Don't put it in the same bag as these amateurs.

He's not doing it himself. He has a coder hired. He also has art posers, writer and a few other staff. His coding back in the beginning of development and hiring various people with various ways of coding over the years is the reason why the code is FUBAR now and needed fixed.

gotta be pretty hard to keep coders considering how much they can earn, gotta be someone that has a passion for the project?

No clue. Could be the challenge of restructuring 26MB, a few hundred thousand lines in 1600+ files, of code that is the motivator.

lust was aight, treasure had good gameplay and the scenes were decent but the story was whack, and what i played of genesis was decent, but i'm waiting for it to finish since it's so close, then i'm gonna start over.
genesis is completed btw. not officially v1.0 but the story is finished and has setup for the next game.

Show me even a single coder who has a passion for any work he does. Working with code is one of the most thankless and mind numbing things in the world.
true: you need to understand code like java/arduino like you're talking to it in order to have passion for it. also depends on who you're working for if you're not going solo

His progress bar went from 82% down to 76%. What happened? Did they delete 6% of the data?
Basically at that time all the individual tasks were given the same percentage to be completed. Some would take a day or so to fix and others weeks so it wasn’t super accurate. They just assigned the proper amount to each task left. So if a really big task gets finished the progress bar will increase a lot more than it would have previously. This gives a more accurate view for us.

The craziest thing about this is that in the last 6 months he has actuall gained subs even though there hasn't been an update in a year.
It's not crazy - there are 8 billion people in the world, over 5 billion use the internet daily, at least 1 billion who have played at least 1 adult game. More than 1 million people access the internet each day for the first time.

There are more than 31 million results for Summertime Saga from a Google search. Over 5 million video results, alone. No matter what booru you go to, there's fan art of the game. Whenever there is a discussion in a forum about popular adult games, the game is mentioned. Hell, the game is about as mainstream as the adult movie "Behind the Green Door" was in the 1970s.

I would say his current maintenance and slight uptick in number of paid members (though, lower $$$ per subscriber) is because of his monthly status reports. It's good PR, whether there is progress or not.

I'm a web developer myself and you clearly have no idea of what you are talking about. I would say roughly 80% of the colleagues I've met really enjoy what they do, and would not do anything else for a living.
There are so many self taught youngsters, or more experienced people that achieve overwhelming projects, on their free time, for free, as a hobby. Hell, do you even know the principle of "open source software" ? Some, if not most, of these projects are free. The whole linux ecosystem is built on the work of people doing it by passion.
It's a shame people like you can be so ignorant and still blatantly giving their opinions on a subject they have no idea of.
