That's been my point about the 'support' forever. There's always going to be a number of subscribers who just......... forget to cancel. A certain amount of that is baked into the finances of a subscription model.

Yes, the only thing that can stop this is the Patreon page ban. Probably no one will bother looking up the Patreon rules that Summertime Saga is currently breaking, probably there are some.

Even though the majority of subs are on auto-pay, many people also sub and unsub on a monthly basis for whatever reason. I refuse to believe that they are all simps and believe that the current rate of development is worth estimated monthly earnings of $62K-$191K, they are probably new to the game.

And I don’t think he is actually breaking any Patreon rules. He isn't really violating his 'contract' with his patrons, nor is he skirting the line with off-site uncensor patches for totally not!incest games. The game is about as squeaky clean as it gets for Patreon releases.
And it's not like he's got a 'fake page' where he gets money for something he isn't doing. Because, well, he is doing art rather visibly.

He also doesn't have some absurdingly high tiers like some artists, who got shit like pay 100+ bucks twice a month.

So, yeah, no idea how anyone would be able to get him on Patreon.

He probably draws in people from elsewhere. Ain't like F95 is the only place to talk porn games. Twitter for example. I think he's actually pretty active over there.

Finished vs completed. At this point I'll say it'll never be completed. He has no incentive to complete all the stated project goals considering his patreon still makes a lot cash with his current output.

However, it'll be finished once he officially abandons it or isn't around to work on it anymore. Yes, I'm a pessimist at this point.

If he doesn't follow through on his promises, he is literally scamming and grifting. Milking patrons.

I'm no DC support but what are you all talking about? His Patreon is not shut down, DC posts regularly, and they take their fee before they give the content creator anything.

Hmm, nah. As far as any Patreon rules go, he's clean. The closest he came was back during the incest crackdown, but he was hardly the only one who got their account suspended back then.


On a different note: I checked Xitter to see if I was right in him being active there, and he pretty much always announces his streams there. So I'm guessing there's the main draw of his current patrons.

I think it's indeed mostly porn video platforms and normal social media like facebook, etc. As soon as you are looking for some kind of NSFW game content, there's a high chance SS is going to pop up pretty soon - there are literally game/scene videos with millions of views out there.

Edit: To me that's also the reason, why F95 will hardly matter for DC. People see the game on platforms like let's say pornhub, search the name via google, download the game from DC's homepage/patreon for free and play it. No need to register here or on other boards to get it.

I mean at the start DC was developing the game at a good pace, and it was one of the best games on this site in terms of having reliable and reasonably sized updates.

Game quality is still high for western game standards but yep pace is trash now. The only other person I recall really putting in work in hand drawn 2D western games using Renpy in particular was Akabur. Thinking about it, funny how thats almost a decade ago that he completed his two Trainer games Witch Trainer and Princess Trainer. Everyone was copying him.

I miss that guy, sucks that Akabur only has one casual project nowadays

I mean, objectively he's one of the most "visible" devs out there - after all he's streaming his work between ~ 25 and 35 hours or so each month for years by now.
