some dude said DC logged in here yesterday.. if that's true he definitely knows about the abandoned tag, i don't think he cares so much about it in the sense that he completly changed plans to get rid of it again but at the same time people from his discord and on picarto are going to bother and annoy him about the tag so i think he has some reason to get rid of it again

but yeah the main reason for drip feeding the tech update is probably more so that even his most hardcore supoorters are getting angry and he knows the finished tech update will take another 1 1/2 years (trying to be optimistic here)

I mean if the guy posted on Patreon tomorrow saying he's retiring and the project is done he would probably still have like 7k backers for the next 2 years.

i still think it's sus that they let him do his thing for 2 years without asking him once why he is naming things "booger aids" or whatever. the complete lack of oversight about what his sole coder is doing is definitely on DC. i think he just didn't care as long as the patreon money didn't stop. simple as.

People who don't know first thing about programming can't be realistically expected to supervise the game's coding standards. They'd need to know better than the guy responsible for coding, if they're to realize shit is fucked.

(and having more people on the project isn't necessarily an answer -- more often than not you'll just get different opinions from them, and without knowing yourself first thing about the subject, you won't know who's in the right, if there even is the "right" at all)

In these cases it's probably more about the question, if there actual alternatives around, which is the case for 3D wegs like Glamour.

For 2D wegs on the other hand, the number of alternatives is much smaller and most of them are either Anime/RPGM, worse quality or just as slow.

In other words, if you are looking for a good 3D weg, Glamour really won't be your first choice, but if you are looking for a decent 2D weg with a good amout of content, you'll come across SS pretty fast. DC won't really have to worry as long as that's the case.

All I can say is that finally this game gets an "abandoned" tag on it. Maybe now DC would actually get off his lazy ass and give us content. Not a tech-update, oh no, I'm done with that shit. DC should give us a full fledged update. I should see this game go from version .20.16 to version Complete. (Or version .25) With the amount of time that DC took, we should get the equivalent of four or five updates. But I'm not getting my hopes up. Because DC might decide to release another tech update just to get the "abandoned" tag off of his game.

I want to be real, with yesterday news I feel that everyone have lost. Not only we will have to wait for small updates in the long run for a prolonged period of time that it's probably the time DC team were going to use to get the Tech update fully complete anyways, but with these chunk of new content roughtly every 2 months its probably that DC will incrase his income thanks to the excitement of the public in general.

It's like the people that have theorized that with the Abandoned Tag DC would lose patrons: well, now the contrary is going to happen when people see the new update, and then other update, not matter if it's small or short; after 18 months of no content the excitement will go sky rocket.

While I think the Abandoned Tag is not going to change anything substantial, mostly because DC don't care about it, have a patreon base so big to fall drastically in 1 month and most people here (90% I dare to say) don't pay a penny for any game in this platform and don't have the intention anyway, if it's true that the Abandoned tag caused DC to work in this new content schedule (thing I highly doubt) then let me tell you that this have fuck us all, because in the end this person will win more money than he will lose and we will have to see all this process again and again.

Unless you don't care about any of this drama and only wait for the updates to drop ocasionally, this have literally become a waste of time and a total madness, for DC team, for his patreon community and for the people in this forum. In my case, it was ages ago that I decided to not invest my time or energy in any creator or person here, because in the end it's more likely I will lose more than I will win. If the creator mess up enough, then it will become a Silver case (Glamour, Big Brother); if he dedicate his time to improve he can come back from the dead or how its called here "abandoned tag" and it could become a Deviant Anomalies case.

From my experience, its only the creators decisions that lead to his downfall or his rise; in Summertime Saga case I don't see him falling any time soon, for better or for worse. I am only happy that we will have new content after so long and I am excited to see the rework in Jenny and mostly in Debbie's art, but at the same time I am sad that we will have to wait so long to have the Tech update fully complete. In the end, it's the player fan base that have lost. There is nothing to celebrate.

Nobody asked for a Tech update, i polled back than on Patreon like many others for more content. But he forced that shit.. he could finish that game and create SS2 with widescreen support and everybody would be fine with it. The Abandoned Tag is more important that you think, people on this site are looking for Porngames, seeing it with the abandoned tag will prevent users in future to support him.. the difference will be visible in some weeks for sure.

And you're underestimating how much impact this site has to coomers. This isn't 2016 where F95 is some literal who website in the corner of the internet, it's a big site known to even obscure Japanese devs at this point. I'm sure DC himself doesn't give a shit, the man has a established patreon base who gives him his monthly free paycheck. But optics is important, if someone looks up Summertime Saga chances are they'll end here and when the see that "abandoned" tag their interest will drop. It's happened to every other game on this site with that tag, SS isn't immune to it.
