Well lads, this is certainly top entertainment, I never thought DC would be gutsy enough to release this. I used to support him like 5 years ago, but stopped, once I realized the guy is an asshole. And if you're having a blast in here you should check discord. The devs are going nuts telling people off left and right and saying "why are you complaining about some free shit" people just respond saying the game is getting paid for by people backing it and that that fact alone doesn't warrant this shite. Fucking hell, this is like watching the bloody Hindenburg or the Titanic. You know this isn't going to end well. I reckon DC has enough brain-dead followers to keep some money going, but if you have two functioning brain cells, backing this shitshow is beyond question.

Problem is...This is exactly what people want. They like being treated like idiots otherwise
they wouldn't be paying $60,000 per month for nothing...or close to nothing. It's just insanity.

Not a defender, never paid for it, but you got to admit the point you make with Ren'Py is flawed. Of course a Ren'Py game which is just DAZ renders back to back can be done fast and easy. But any game using a 2D puppet system always take ages to make. Same for Witch Trainer Silver or Innocent Witches, that people are less angry about because they make less money. Which helps to make a real point for what to be angry about with SummertimeSaga : With all that money they could have hired a competent project manager and various helpers long ago and they didn't.

He could have learned Game Maker in a few months and gotten a stupid rigged 2D puppet game. Or Unreal, or unity, or any number of games that would easily support a basic point and click adventure game.

Again, there is nothing complicated from a design perspective when it comes to this game. Making a timed click puzzle is one of the simplest things you can make. His entire game design is playing dialouge and a few choices that determine which image files and text Renpy recalls.

Everybody gives him the benefit of the doubt when he spent two years reinventing the wheel.

This will be mt last comment because I simply didn't follow this game at all until now. I played it when I found this place a couple years back or so. I thought it was ok, not amazing or anything.

I had NO IDEA they were basically the biggest adult game dev out there. From what they make there is ZERO excuse for this BS. None. As I said above, I alone could have ported his entire game to a totally bespoke engine in less than 6 months. Easily.

This is criminal, lmao. I shit on L&P/AWAM but this makes them look like the best dev ever.

You need 5-6 months to learn a game engine such as ue5 and do a point & click/visual novel. After that just pay a freelance who will draw all the assets that you need and voila, you have Summertime in 10 months from today.

This right here... this is the biggest problem. I downloaded it, the wide screen is nice, the game has a better feel to it overall. If content was being poured back into the game quickly and released at 2-week intervals, I think it would be almost somewhat worth it. A fucking year to get back almost to where the game was? Jesus fucking christ.

In the interest of injecting some positivity into this thread: I highly encourage anyone who was into this game to shift their focus (and their dollars) to 5 Of A Kind. Much better writing (both sexual and otherwise). Better gameplay. Very active developer that takes feedback right there in the thread. The last major update was just a few days ago, and it added content!
