Kinda called it out 2 months agoSome of us called this when this pre pre pre pre tech update release was announced,theres no way DC releases everything back in less than one year,is going to take more years for the full tech update release.

The roadmap is useless because they can change it. Like I suspected it's just PR to calm down patrons. Really they haven't increased their pace or gotten better at organizing at all.
Earliest tech update estimate would be 2026 but as they change the roadmap it might even be later.
It's funny because no matter what the final tech release is STS will be "a game that took over 10 years and millions of dollars to make" while looking like something 3 students make as a final year school project.
Yup that's the issue with pretty much all of the patreon games. Looking like it's a kickstarter but it's not. It's also not obvious to people at first glance and when you pitch projects like it's a kickstarter then fall back on the fine print (which is provided by Patron to be fair) it becomes a "gotcha" moment. It's more impactful if you're actually donating (like my dumb ass did) but even when you're not it's perfectly reasonable to look at that interaction from a 3rd POV and go "wow that guy is dumb for donating but fuck that other guy for pulling that shit". Nobody likes gotchas. But like you said they are also free to leave.

Gotta respect the hustle, if nothing else. It being entirely voluntary is the genius part, since people are easy to get to drop money on things they don't directly profit from (see charity or church). It's not like how tips are apparently handled in some places in the US, where tip automatically gets added to the bill and you have to pay up (doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of it being a tip?). So someone is probably getting ripped off more from going to one of those places than they're from donating to DC.

You don't pay F95zone anything to access their site. You probably use an ad blocker to visit.
Developers don't pay anything to put their games on here. In fact, the vast majority of games are pirated against the develoers' wishes.
Finally, you're the person who subscribed to Dark Cookie (supposedly) for a game that is free to everyone - without a requirement to subscribe. Caveat emptor. You should have stopped subscribing sooner if you weren't getting what you thought you should get... Even while getting your tier benefits afforded you per your subscription.

Sites like these were made to get around paywalls. users of this site make free games for it, because they want their idea to get seen and Summertime Saga isn't connected to this site in that way.

As I see it, there are only fans of SummertimeSage in this thread, otherwise we wouldn't be here. There's one side that's trying to increase the pressure on DarkCookie to do more in the game and the few but very loud others who just want the developer to earn money without doing anything. he can do that for all I care, but it won't change anything about the game.
the latter is unfortunately a rip-off of the fans and supporters, those who simply want to treat him to an immediate pension can do so. those who hope that their support will result in a finished game should be warned.
