Exactly my thoughts, the fact that he is going to adjust names (based on latest indiscretions) to solve the issue opens the door to patching the incest stuff in after each release, either by him or fans, similar to what happens in incestral awakening.
The incest part is the core of the game for many of his supporters, i believe he thought about some backup plan, if he didn't, fans will do it.

Wait, I am confused about what DC´s plan actually *is*. BY changing names, you mean:
a) All the content we get with sister, Mom and Aunt remains, and he will just alter the few tidbits necessary for them NOT be his relatives anymore, wink wink, nudge nudge, or
b) Mom, Sister and Aunt sex scenes will be completely removed from the game?

The a) option would be the right one logically speaking, removing all those animations (aka hard work) would be quite the waste. A simple renaming of the family characters (example "Mom" to "Diana the family friend" and so on) should do the trick with the minimum loss in terms of content, leaving it open for incest patching outside of patreon.
I agree, but I fear that whomever is behind this new Patreon policies will be alert for any attempts to "game the system".
And, as I said, DC´s statement looked somewhat ambiguous to me, so I can´t exactly evaluate his plans for the game.

If we are actually discussing a theoretical reworking of character titles to make them not actual incest
Story: The MC's mother and father split up causing his father to be missing who knows where during the time his father went missing his mom died in an accident leaving him with no one to take care of him and no family in the area. As there is no direct relative to look after him he instead has to be looked after by his God Mother a close friend of his mothers who happens to be a local in the town and has a daughter who is closer to his own age so she happily takes him in. As for the aunt just change her to the sister of his God Mother so they are neither his biological Mother or his Biological Aunt more his adopted mother due to the fact his actual mother is dead this should more or less get around the issue. This change would allow you to keep the story of looking for your missing father which is a very minor story element but one that would not have to be changed, also this minor of a naming change would probably take the least amount of time to implement while making at least some semblance of sense
Obviously this speculation is rather baseless as we haven't a clue as to the extent of the enforcement of the rules but with my vague understanding of law in the USA this should be more then enough to avoid any violation of aforementioned Internet Pornography Laws at least in the state Patreon is based it making it no longer their problem
At the end of the day this comment and any other related to what DC could / should / would do is just speculation and our own personal thoughts on the matter but just thought I would weigh in on possible ways the story could be adjusted.

Wouldn´t it just be easier to change the MC as someone living/renting a room with the family, and then both HIS dad and the family´s dad ("mom"´s husband, "sister"´s dad) died in the same car accident? (maybe he came for a visit and the family´s dad offered him a ride?)
That would allow DC to keep "Mom"´s issues related to the loss of her husband, "Sister´s dialog´s and diary telling how her dad used to spoil her, while ALSO allowing the MC to be motivated to discover what happened to his father?

If I recall correctly the MC's Dad is not confirmed to be dead but rather he is missing, as one of the little "goals" that was tracked in the game were things like paying off to get a car, getting enough money to go to school and finding your father. None of these besides saving the money were able to be done mind you and its been a while since I checked that tab of things so its possible I am remembering it incorrectly. On the chance that I am recalling things correctly its more likely that the MC's Dad was abducted by the mobsters that come by to beat up the MC and extort money from them as some form of debt repayment.
That being said if both families are close the one of the MC and the real family both fathers could have been partners in crime so to speak when it comes to their dealing with those shady characters, as for the mother of the MC you could kill her off or just have her go "missing" with the rest of them honestly we have a situation where shady men in suits are abducting people and extorting / assaulting people in busy streets so its not exactly hard to believe they would run a human abduction and torture ring as a form of "educating" people about the importance of paying off their debt.
Hopefully this reply doesn't get me warned/banned (I'm not disparaging Patreon or DC), but this post is not exactly about help with the game. I am speculating on the game's development though, so hopefully it's still appropriate for the thread.

I mean, if Patreon were to listen to a Picarto stream where DC said, "Oh, yeah, we'll make it so you can patch the incest right back in by X means," they would take him to task or ban him. He also can't write that intention anywhere, even on his DC site/wiki if there is a formal affiliation with his Patreon page.

Well that's not true. They could ban him from the site. Let's be honest with ourselves, they can ban people without a reason. There is no law on the books stopping them.
I agree. It's not like no one knew this was coming. I think Patreon has just been systematically making their way around the block and any dev who thinks they are safe shouldn't fool themselves and begin implementing a strategy now rather than later.
The problem is Patreon will try to completely disconnect them from the project. In their jaded eyes, any money earned on Patreon could be funneled into a related non-patreon project.
They are strict as hell, that's all I can say.
I read on another post somewhere that it has to do with them being based in California and apparently CA has some pretty strict rules when it comes to porn. No incest, etc. So it might be a state compliance thing that is rolling down.
But I've done no research to verify that statement. But I mean....it's California....so I wouldn't be surprised.

Even if you don't have a problem with the naming palette swap (which I definitely do for full disclosure) another main problem is there will be no more "incest" related content coming. If mom, sister, and aunt are all related in any way we won't be getting scenes with them. We can't, otherwise he'd be running astray of the rules again. This game and its direction are undeniably and completely changing.
