I cancelled after the Patreon thing. It was an unforgivable lack of foresight given what has happened to others. Either he was arrogant or just doesn't keep up to date with industry issues (which is idiotic and arrogant). He had "employees" waiting on art assets, he should have had them going through, altering names to variables which could be pulled from a mapping file. Keep it in the family as long as you can but the dialog changes are already done by simple changes to the mapping file. In renpy it's dead easy.

I'm going to get attacked a lot but only by people who know deep down I'm talking the truth. This has been badly managed.

I also stated my opinion, if he feels sorry for those who support we can assume that he doesn't support. If someone doesn't like how the dev team is handling the updates you're free to stop your pledge or never pledge at all. You'll get the game for free, fap at the update and cry the next 3 month, it's your life, but don't treat those who support like assholes. Or just do it... I forgot for a second that I was on internet...

Honestly, this all free to play bullshit is just a scam itself. I'd rather have him to make people pay for each release BUT instead set the system to take patron's money upon release, not monthly. Then I'd consider it fair. As of now I can already see meager amount of real content and much excuses about how guidelines messed up everything but frankly, I don't give a fuck, we are not kids but adults, if he cannot pull it together then I am cancelling. Much depends on how satisfactory next release is. You can imagine that as undoubtedly majority of the people were in it for incest, it gets removed, if 4 months update is shit, I look forward to similar fiasco like with Heaven Studios.

Patreon is a cool thing, if people like your shit, you can grow fast. But if you fail hard and lose trust, regaining it will take inversely proportionally more time.

I think part of the reason why he seems to be streaming so much recently is because he understands big part of his success is due to his streaming so given the recent disturbances...

If that is the case he is sacrificing game progress for streaming, which a project manager wouldn't countenance. He can either decide to do the game or not. Either way, bottleneck or not, it's taken 84 days to do 54%. By all means, keep throwing your money at him, that's your choice. It must be nice to earn nearly $880 an hour with nothing to show for it after three months. Anyway, there will come a point when even his greatest white knights will have to live up to reality. Face it, the recent set back was entirely predictable given everything that has happened to every single other incest focused game on Patreon since the beginning of the year. Failure to predict it was either hubris or idiocy. Contingency plans should already have been in place. Again, bad project management.

It's not an investment if there's no real difference between paying and not paying. Your shareholder analogy doesn't work because what you put in does not have a proportional return. If you put in 500 dollars, you're not going to somehow enjoy the game 500x more than the guy who put in 1 dollar. You also don't get 100x the voting power of 5 dollar donors. Unless putting your name in the game somehow gets you more money, there's no investment value.

Don't backers have some sort of control over the direction of the game?

Also, this is a free game. There's no profit margin. But patreon backers are still investing their own money.

THAT'S NOT TRUE. He's making the final characters' poses involving the last 2 teachers' quests, now. The only thing he made you won't see in the 0.15 update is Principal Smith's house.

Based on the way DC was talking in streams three weeks ago, I would have guessed it would have been out right about now. But listening to him yesterday, it seems like he overestimated the amount of art he had left to finish, because he is still working on the 16th art task, and the 17th sounds like it might not be small. Sometime in April would be my guess, same as Daniel85. DC did sound stressed yesterday talking about getting it done ASAP though.

How about waiting until you know how the next update will be? It takes that long since almost every girl/teacher/principal will have some role in those quests you'll have to fulfill for the teachers. Which then again means that many people will at least get a little bit of their favourite character and the quests won't be boring. Else it's not like things that are drawn now won't be useful later. The way DC reuses art means that all those poses he draws now will be useful later and cut the time for those updates.

And I'd even disagree about the bad project management. The way DC manages SS is to not do anything twice and not waste any money on stuff that's not useful or really necessary. Making real contigency plans and rework them every update until patreon maybe takes action would have been a colossal waste of time and money.

I won't comment further on your 54% percent calculation because you will know that things usually go rather fast once the art is done.

And yes, I'll "keep throwing money at him" because the streams alone are fun enough to spend a few bucks a month and to support him.

As far as I'm aware that's random to a degree. It can either be a complete h scene, a set of poses, (set of) new location(s) etc.

Came to see about game updates, saw another wasted couple of pages discussing Patreon pledging that is nothing more than venting about a system no one is vested in or has control over.

While I am sure many people supports DC and treats it as a donation or 'supporting the content creator'. We cannot deny that there are just as many people who supports because they see it as 'an investment'. Almost 3 months of no content update besides some morsels thrown out is hardly comforting to most of the 'investors'. You will be kidding yourself if you kept assuming that every Patreon has and should have the same mindset.

I reckon this update will be pretty crucial. If the update is lacking in terms of content and playtime, I suspect a good number of people will start losing faith and pull out eventually; especially if they assume 14.0 to 15.0 is "1% completion", and that 1% took 3 months.

This was asked on stream, and it varys. All the H-scenes were a task. Each teacher had a task for all the art assets needed for them. DC said that Task 14 of this update was Mrs. Dewitt related, and Task 15 was Principal Smith related. He said some tasks take a few hours, others more than a week.

In relation to the time this update is taking, DC said in the stream this morning that this update is more than double the size of any previous update.

I thought Irredeemable was bad about releasing updates, but he's a one person team. DarkCookie has a big group of people and it's been months since the last release.
They blame Patroen (don't get me wrong, they're a bunch of idiots) but meeting their demands are quite simple, change the dialog... MC is renting a room from an older woman (not mom) along with a younger roommate (not sister). He works for older woman (not Aunt but landlord's best friend). Same with Eric, rent's room from older woman. Add images of Summerville College to show it's not a high school. Because of this, save for a new car rather than saving for college. DC could add a Store to "Pimp his Ride" and perhaps impress Roxy and steal her from Dexter. Summertime Saga is easy. Dating My Daughter on the other hand had several characters that REALLY "looked" underage Very pre-pubescent. But again, not impossible to fix, age them up a bit. Perhaps Dating My Girlfriend's Daughter or Dating My Protege (Google it).

Allow someone "outside the team" to release an inc*st patch for people that want to use it. It IS possible that Patroen has some other unreasonable demands, but I doubt it. I think most of these Developers are over-thinking it. They feel like their creativity be censored (which it is) so they are taking it personally. Patroen is trying to keep the government out of their business (and money) so they are Over-reacting or have low level employees suspending accounts.
I like ALL of these Developers, but they need to stick to a regular release schedule (Mr Dots was pretty good about this, roughly the same time every month). For example: DarkCookie by adding all the teachers at once is being too ambitious, thus the LONG delay.
For example: The sister (roommate) has a LOT more scenes that I'd like like to see. She should visit MC's room at night "begging" for dick, then acting like nothing happened the next morning. She Totally needs a facial! Mrs Bissette should be the first teacher to get new scenes. Maybe she can "romance" the MC into doing something for her. Perhaps luring Roxy into her spiderweb for some girl on girl action. There are many possibilities with "existing" characters, no need to re-invent the wheel.
I'll never be as talented as DarkCookie so these are just suggestions more than complaints. I think he's in a advantageous position having SO much word of mouth adding new donors. But if he would have releases sooner he'd be at $30k plus!
