Ren'Py - Superheroes Suck [v2.025 Public] [Solace]

Lovely models, janky animations, and an interesting story sabotaged by how improbably eager everyone is to jump your dick.

Dead end loser, discovers he may have superpowers and gets recruited by "not-Wonder Woman" to her academy where your co-students are four attractive women. Points for not having mind control or corruption as your superpower (it's possible that you have a super erection capable of stopping cars but it's not clear yet). It's a little odd that most of your teammates don't tell you their power, you would think that would come up pretty early but does lead to some funny speculative scenes.

Gameplay is eh. It's set up like a sandbox stat grinder but there's only one or two things you can do at each time of day so it ends up being very linear. If you've unlocked an event you do it in the morning or you can grind Confidence. In afternoon you grind Aptitude or Fitness--they alternate availability. In the evening you grind Confidence.

What dragged this game down for me is the how ridiculously horny three of the four classmates are. You have the sheltered virgin who loves romance novels and has a crush on you. Almost immediately she asks you to teach her the ways of sex.
Then there's the robotically cold Russian girl who starts working out topless because she thinks it will motivate you. She also starts dating and having sex with you and it's not really clear whether it's because she thinks it's a competition or because your other tutor is. Honestly, I found her character really off-putting and was fast-forwarding a bit by this point so I may have missed some explanation.
Finally, there's Chrys who's a try-hard goth/rebel girl with hidden depths. I really wanted to like this character and it seemed to be building up to something great. Early on she teases you a couple times but then makes excuses and backs off--presumably because of nerves. As soon as you have sex with someone else that all goes out the window and she becomes kinkiest character so that was a waste.
The only girl you can't have sex with as of v0.40 is Riley--the redhead married to a jerk. Easily bestgirl.

The animations are choppy. I know dev is rendering this on a hamster wheel but these girls love to wink and when it takes multiple frames it's off-putting in a Lucille Bluth-type way.

Overall, really enjoyed playing through current content and the models are great. Just a shame that the relationship writing is noticeably lacking compared to the rest of the writing.

Very unusual story, weird characters and well done animations. Don't get me wrong game need more work on it yet with improvements I bet this could another fantastic game to my collection.

Nice game, not a big fan of sandbox/stats building games but grinding here is quite easy to schedule and tests are easy to pass if you don't skip any timeslot. Also, having different texts to show your progress helps a lot to avoid that boring feeling of repetitions. Intriguing main story about an Academy for young superheroes trying to get a grasp of their powers, with lots of questions to be answered (MC's origins and powers, girls' pasts and relationships, villains...). It's well written, with a good sense of humour. Girls are nice and different, I personally love their facial expressions during conversations, lot of good work there. Also, a simple but effective UI with hints allows you to understand what should be your next step with each girl.

Sex scenes are the only flaw at this point, they feel a bit short for the work needed to unlock them, but Dev said he's working on it so let's hope for an improvement on this area. All in all, a great game with a good potential

The following review is based off my personal experience with playing this Game/Visual Novel... I try to be as brutally honest and detailed as I can, and these are my own opinions and thoughts, from one or more play throughs... The version this review is based on is v0.40...

This VN/Game may be more porn focused then story focused, but it has a lot of other redeeming qualities and shows lots of promise...

The visuals of the characters are from good to high quality, most of which I've not seen before... The backgrounds range from decent to high quality, only some of which I've seen before... There are some animations, but most are not fluid, but instead use a form of multiple still images played in fast repeating sequence... The few that were fluid, were very well done... It almost makes me think that the fluid animations were something the developers changed to in later development, and I fervently hope they decide to revisit older animation types and replace them with this same higher quality fluid animation style, as it looks far superior... The UI is simplistic and easy to figure out...

The script is mostly well done, as I only ran into some spelling/grammar errors now and then... The plot for the main story revolves around a male protagonist living and working a drab and boring existence... In the world there are super heroes and super villains, as well as other varying levels of other super powered people... The protagonist ends up jumping in to help a downed super heroine and in the process learns he has some form of super power, which leads him to becoming a student at a Super Hero Academy ran by a local female super heroine...

After the introduction story the VN/Game switches to a navigation mode style stat grinder, where you can select where the male protagonist goes during certain times of the day throughout a given game week... There is a schedule of events for the protagonist to partake in, but in the end it's the player/reader who can decide where to go and so on... There are some basic stats, as well as a currency type stat for spending on special events as you go through the varying female characters story arcs... There are also hints for each of the primary female characters, in case you get lost on what to do next to further each characters stories...

The main female characters are in someways initially stereotyped, but to my amazement I think the developers did a bang up job with their personalities and character development... WARNING: About to get into some deep Spoiler Territory... As an example, the goth girl plays out like what you initially suspect for a goth girl setup in these things, but you can tell how the developer added subtle hints in her dialogue and story events that she is not all that she seems... What you are initially presented with is more like a mask she puts on, to seem more like a tough girl persona, where as her character has far more depth to it and is hiding behind that tough girl act for whatever reasons... This kind of dynamic holds true in some ways with all the various characters, as you go through their story arcs...

In essence, yes there are plenty of erotic scenes to be experienced, as you would expect from a more porn focused VN/Game, but there is also enough decent story telling that goes on in the various character story arcs and game play, to give this one a bit more depth and meaningful plot then what you would typically see in this style of game play... Some of the events had me rolling in my chair laughing they were so hilarious... I even felt some emotional attachment to the characters... Each character had a well developed background, that played well into how they reacted towards certain choices as well as the inter-character relationships...

The grind itself, is not so bad, although there is definitely some repeating events as you grind up the few stats that require it... But not to the degree that I've seen in lots of other stat grinders... I don't mind grinders like this one too much, as I didn't feel like most of my game play revolved around it.. Plus, on occasion you may think you're about to do yet another grind event for a specific stat, yet again, but then the event plays out a bit differently with some new content perhaps...

The only real primary issue I had, was that most of the erotic content events felt rather short... Some were so short as to be just a tiny amount of animation, followed by a quick orgasm, and done... That is probably something the developers need to put more attention into... Having them be longer, especially when you may be trying to convey some feeling of emotional attachment between the protagonist and the characters, adds more to that feeling of a building relationship... Where as a very quick event, feels more like a slam-bam thank you ma'am type of situation, were the characters had no emotional investment, and it was just a meaningless quick and fast sexual encounter...

Overall, I was expecting this VN/Game to be yet another highly repetitive porn style grinder, with over the top stereotyped characters... But I was pleasantly surprised that although it does have some grind, it's not that bad... And the characters have unique personalities that should not always be taken at face value, and each one develops in different and various ways... Enough so that it adds depth to both their personalities, traits, and also to the individual character story lines... The main plot does play out, but at a slower pace in comparison to the individual character story arcs... Yet it doesn't feel melodramatic or over the top, and although it is not the focus of the game play, it does tie in to the various character arcs, and the protagonist, as he goes through those arcs...

Of all the Super Powered style erotic VN/Games I've played, this is one of the better ones thus far... It is still early into it's development, and does have a few kinks to iron out, but for me it shows a lot of promise... I look forward to reading/playing this one again in the future, once it gets more content under it's belt...

I think this game if really well done and though at the moment (0.40) there isn't that much conent (maybe 1-2 hours), its really fun. The dialogue is great, the models are nice, and the interface is well polished. the game doesn't feel grindy at all I i personally think this a wonderful up and coming game.

Good Points
+ We have an interesting story, I really like a super-hero type of stories and we don't have too much game with this concept. Especially truth about Harper and Missus Powell was interesting and the cliffhanger about Elie was quite intense.
+ We have a couple of little references like the ''You can't fast travel while enemies nearby'' reference.
+ Our interactions with girls/women are pretty funny and enjoyable a lot. Scene about what MC thinks Riley's powers are, he naming concrete beam as a Timmy while having training with Ellie, how touchy Artemisia story (Hearing artificial intelligence inside of car saying: ''I'm scared MC and I need a hero.'' was sad...) is, Chrys actually being darn smart and she literally finds out the truth about Lovestruck or her reactions to things like when she learned MC's powers (Holy shit. He fucked your powers out of you.) etc were pretty cool and funny things we have with girls.
+ I guess I can say our game had improvements for sex scenes. At first versions, not all sex scenes had animations and animations were pretty bad but now they are kind of improved.
+ After 2 years of development finally we learned MC's powers! And it's turned out MC can copy other people's powers and I can't say I'm totally surprised, I was thinking kind of similar theory and despite DEV delivering this power thing soo, soo late I should say I like the way he did, I wish it was sooner. Especially the part about Ellie actually knowing/guessing MC's powers and helping him with touching him time for a time was interesting, it's kind of fixed wasted opportunity of her being a good mentor and actually using academy as she should, but still not good enough but I guess without remaking the whole thing this was best DEV can do. And Old Man's identity was very interesting as well, it was the only thing I wasn't expecting I guess, I wasn't thinking he was something important. But when we got something good for the story DEV tells us the main story will enter a period of hiatus for improving sandbox and love interests stories! COME ON! We were waiting for this main story for 2 years?! Seriously?! Just continue adding more main story content already!
+ Detail about Lovestruck's dad saying ''I was lovestruck when you born'' to her and that's why she chose that name was cute.

Bad Points
- Like I told our story is interesting but the main story feels like a little bit too much slow-burn. I mean this is a game with a superhero story and it literally took 2 years of development to DEV give us the truth about MC's powers... The superhero part is the literally main thing about this story, but the effect on the story is too slow and very little. We saw very little content about superhero stuff and DEV's writing feels like he literally trying to make things slower than they should, which make things annoying and boring.
- It's kind of tied to the first point this bad point is about the story and more precisely about the usage of Academy, which is wasting with current usage. Missus Powell's lessons are very little like you don't even think she is your super-hero teacher, she nearly teaches anything at all nor does the job as a super-hero mentor. Academy and Missus Powell's mentor usage is a totally wasted opportunity in the current build and now she's gone I guess we already missed that train with amazing content changes... Thinking how great things DEV could do with her and her being super-heroes (especially MC's) mentor and giving well-written superhero lessons are just frustrating... DEV should have used this potential better with more lessons that should involve actual superhero lessons instead of just rules you can read from a book, why does Queen Unbreakable herself just read rules in class instead of giving actual superhero lessons as it should be?! That's just a totally wasted opportunity and wasted potential...
- This bad point is connected with the first one and the one before this bad point and it's about content balance, which we don't have. While we got a lot of content for girls the main story gets very little content and it's not ok, we need more balanced content around the main story and girl's stories/content. The main story and MC needs better writing and more focus. Heck even after learning MC's power after 2 years of development time DEV tells us he is going to stop there and we will focus on sandbox and girl's stories again... That's just total nonsense.
- With v01.202 we got a chance to fight with Lovestruck and it was awful... I can't believe DEV literally ruined this great chance and not done a 1v1 great fight with MC using his powers after 2 years of development time and giving us a good fight and just done a 2v1 fight with Riley involving our so-called 1v1 fight Lovestruck wanted for soo long. It was a very boring fight and MC actually lost in the fight but won by using a flashlight... Literally, the only thing he has done was take lightning blows, lie on the ground, and then use a flashlight after she used lightning to his headpiece, where he told Artemisia to add a flashlight... And the worse part is MC going to be on the front page of the news for this! ''GREAT HERO CAPTURED LOVESTRUCK! HE FIGHT WITH HER 2V1 AND USED FLASHLIGHT FOR WINNING!'' Yeah... What a great fight! I can't believe DEV wasting great potential things over and over again like they are nothing!
- Sex scenes need more improvement, they improved a lot since the first release (the first ones were terrible BTW) but still, they have a lot of room to improve and currently they do look more robotic than erotic. So firstly sex scene angles look unattractive (I mean look at this, do you call this an attractive sex scene?!) and they need to look better. Secondly, we need a little bit longer animations (just 1-2 seconds more will be enough.) As the third, we need more frames per second (more FPS value for animations) for animations. Fourthly better physics for animations is necessary. Currently, our game has an average quality for sex scenes and they are not bad, but they are not good either. Practically speaking they are not good enough for letting off some steam at all. And lastly but not most importantly (that's why I write last obviously) having speed options for animations could be amazing and would make a lot of sense.
- Some characters looks unattractive, like Josie, and some does look ''meh'' like Fel, and with couple changes on their face, body, etc, they could look far better.
- Render quality can use some improvement, especially girl's bodies look kind of mid-quality or something, more detailed and better quality would be amazing.
- This is a sandbox game and the only helper of yours is the tip screen made by DEV which is literally useless... The first problem is not having an actual tip screen for main story events! (or call them MC events doesn't matter) That's just... Wow... They are mixed inside of girl's paths which is total nonsense. And secondly, tips are not working! For example, one tip says: ''I should see how Artemisia is doing. [Morning]'' you going there day after day and nothing happens! You wanna know why? Because for opening that event you gotta progress in another specific event but you don't know which one! So you gotta try to do others, try to find which one is the right one, etc and it makes things just boring ASF... We need a better tips system.
- Songs/Sound effects are not good enough and listening same music over and over again is annoying. Maybe adding new songs for different situations could be good? You can always use non-copright songs at least you can do that for main story events.
- Having no alternative for the tape thing makes non sense at all. There should be different option instead of being forced to do that, since it's connected with MC's (our if you RP) base character and hero character, having no other option is pretty bad point.
- Things we learned with latest update is on different level... First MC and Chrys got attacked by a Dinasour, then MC managed to beat Dinasour and it turned out to be shapeshifter woman, then thanks to Chrys suggestion they decided to take this shapeshifter woman to Academy instead of giving her to police... And then MC started asking questions and we learned she was involved with Queen's kidnapping plan, we learned she was the cat and gave all info they need like Queen's leaving time and where she went, etc, and then she told she did all of these to get powers, she didn't had any, but they give her vials and that was how she shapeshifted, and her only power is darkvision (bingo, MC got powers from her cat form with touching!), and then she told blood work in hospital MC called is trap and they did for copying MC's powers (there is someone in their team can copy temporary powers from blood), and again that's how probably overpowered Queen, since she gave blood before her kidnapping as well, and then in meeting they thought why they still didn't left the city and decided it's because Queen told them MC had all these powers as powers (not as copy powers) and they stayed because wanted his powers, and then MC told they should hold her in Academy, and since they are on subject they remembered how cat c*cblocked them or how watched them have sex and was quite voyeur.
- We learned Felicity is dying because of vials and how they affected her body, server the b*tch right for selling Queen to to those bastards, but that means MC going after a cure, or helping her to exercise just to delay her death to have enough time to find a cure, etc, or developing relationship together, the game is already progressing slow AF, and now we gonna spent time with her... Thanks to her content and DEV putting her in love interest spot the game is going downhill, I mean seriously she has nothing likeable at all, she constantly b*tch and moan about things like she has luxury to do, then calls Chrys ''Attention Whore'' and ''fake'' like seriously? I really wonder what DEV is thinking at this point, he makes sure we hate this b*tch, and still puts her to the love interests part... Not to say she was fake as it can be, sold queen and acted like a f*cking cat! How two-faced she is beyond me... SMH... Only good part was Chrys saying ''You used him! You stole my best friend's mother! Keep your lying mouth shut or I will phase you through a wall and off a cliff! I'll burry you alive!'' and beating her ass, at last she got some punishment, they don't say for no reason: ''F*ck around, and find out.'' Then she did similar thing with Harper, didn't left the training room and acted like tourist, b*tched and moaned about training, acted like she had nothing to do with she losing her mother, not giving a f*ck at all and still lying there... Seriously how selfish this b*tch can be?!
- What are the odds, The Karen we saw at the beginning of the game is Mayor's wife!

For The End
What can I say? This game had great potential when it first came out, but the more time passed the more quality the game lost, it started as a 4 stars rate game, then at some point lowered to 3 stars, then 2 stars and especially with latest update and Felicity content it doesn't even deserve to be called 2 stars rate game...

I'm really enjoy this game. Normally this game would be a bit too simple and VN-esque for my tastes, but I'm having a great time playing it. The dialogue is very funny and well written, and the visuals are well done.

Pleasantly surprised with this game. I normally avoid sandbox games like the plague but this one didn't feel too bad. There is a decent hint system and there are only a handful of locations so it's hard to not find an event.

The characters aren't all too bad although they are pretty unnatural. Like to the point where I question how the dev came up with how they act some of the time.

I think this game could benefit from some polishing up in the earlier stages and all around cleaning up the dialogue, maybe adding some more early events as the relationships with the girls seem to be pulled out of thin air and develop way too quickly. Also we only saw 2 of the characters actually out being superheroines at the very beginning plus the latest patrol but I think the game certainly needs some scenes of even just some of the LIs returning home after a patrol or something sometime in between. The game really lacks depth and you come to realize that after the very structured interactions you have with other characters. That being said, I did enjoy this one and I didn't expect to going into a sandbox game.

I'd recommend it as long as you accept that you may need to suspend your disbelief concerning the way the characters act. Also the main plot is kind of moving at a snails pace but hopefully it ramps up faster it the future. Solid 3.5

The reason I only give a 3 star rating is that the sex scenes are simply terrible, you don't actually see any "Vaginal sex" at all, only 2 bodies grinding on each other, been a long time since íve been this disppointed and felt my time totally wasted, cause of the grinding too...

I give one star for the story, cause superpowers are cool and one star for the renders and one star for the animations, there just is not any animated "vaginal sex" But there is animated HJ, BJ and body grinding.

Sounds: 7/10 not many or no sounds... still gets a good score. lol
Music: 7/10 Music was alright, music should change during nsfw scenes as it kind of makes it awkward to have a steamy scene with upbeat music.
visuals: 9/10 Overall pretty good visuals. Animations started getting better later in character progression.
Game Playability: 6/10 The level up system is a little grindy but not too bad. If I came back to this game this would be the part I would loathe to do.
Story: 9/10 Kind of a new take on the whole superhero thing. MC does not have any power progression in this version but could be interesting.
Game length: 8/10 For a version .3 of a game, it has decent content thus far.
NSFW Content: 8/10 Knowing what goes into these I know that some of these scenes are hard to do, but I think they were (relatively) fluid with the story line. There are bits of the ,"Let's get it on" but it's spread out a bit.

I like the bits of humor in this and enjoy that it's not forced. Overall was an alright game to play and think this game has potential.

This game looks really promising. Great female models. There is not much content yet, but with few more updates and added some more animations, like that one in the kitchen, this could be a really good game. Just one little thing from me, current progress tracker is little bit confusing, I would try just numbers, like 3/8 f.e., because these bars are not telling me what I need to know, especially when game told me, that I reached maximum content with character, but the bar is not full. Overall I am a fan and looking forward to another update.

The game starts out promising, not the normal, incest family fuck fest (Though I do enjoy those.) The MC is just an average guy, with an average life in a dead end job.

The intro was a bit boring, with a lot of confusing and apparently useless questions. The one dream sequence with the anoying customer was really confusing. But it got better with the discovery of the main characters super power.

The characters were interesting and the choices started to actually appear to make a difference. I especially liked the interactions with the Instructor.

The other characters are pretty standard Russian woman obsessed with strength and order flirtatious Goth chick, shy girl next door and married woman from the suburbs. Models are nice however if not very original. I was turned off a bit by how every girl had a tattoo, though that is more a personal preference.

the game takes a colossal downturn however once you finish the intro and it goes from an interesting VN into a grindy and boring click fest of a sandbox with very little to do but grind your skills, click on random rooms and hope something happens and constantly advancing time.

I would have happily rated this higher if the dev had kept it a VN, especially with it's apparent linear storyline. As a Sandbox game it is just boring.

It's open world click fest, small gains for a long time of not much, although the pics are nice. The story starts out nice, a bit of humor mixed in. But the story is a bit disjointed. Too much work for me.

A promising start! The game is fairly well written, funny and I'm excited to see where the story is going. The MC is balanced; not a dick and not a cuck, he feels a tad to passive at times though and the dialogues becomes a tad one sided. The models are cute and their personalities are likable and unique. Downside so far is the lack of content and the game is a bit too grindy. I guess it will make sense plot-wise, but it feels weird that we(the player) still don't know what the MC's power is, it should surely be the first thing they should figure out. Looking forward to future content! Keep up the good work! Ps. Gimme more Riley content! And let me steal her away from her dick husband asap
