Not really that expensive but it's still annoying that you can't play the game with the DLC add-on without Steam

Well, the game is, indeed, cheap. But it's also very small. At least, the SFW version is 5 or 6 stages, each worth a couple of minutes of entertainment.
I am not familiar with the genre, so I can't tell you how it compares to other "object search" games. But at least it's cute.

According to steam discussions, the dlc is linked directly to the client. Playing it outside of steam, the dlc doesn't show up:

Unlock the DLC

Extract and drop the files into this folder (you will want to override steam_api64.dll): Sweet Delights The Girl’s Cafe Quest_Data\Plugins\x86_64

Now launch the game and click on the DLC cookie button.

This is just using the basic of basic steam emulation (using a personal fork of gbe based on another recent fork), I don't know why the original person who supplied the files didn't add this in.

Client side is always just another word for "It's built into the main game". meaning it can be unlocked super easy.

Still, I must say I liked the SFW version of the game better. I should have guessed something was amiss when they left sweets half-eaten in the SFW version. It's a metaphor for how DLC feels like.
