VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Sylphia Island [v0.3a] [Glacerose]

Okay so I don't have as extensive time to write as I did for prior review but I'd like to go over somethings.

- The main characters are extremely unique imho, personality wise and such. All are lovable in their own right.
- The new user interface is extremely easy to use, well worth the long rehaul.
- The story is intriguing, and with the rehaul, it has been more polished as well. No longer seems as odd for your character to live with Alex and the girls.
- I'm glad to see the side characters having spotlight as well.
- The graphics are well done imho, I know it's honey select but I never had issues with those models. May not be everyone's style but I think they look good. And honestly outside of maybe Alex? I don't think any of the girls look like I've ever seen someone similar anywhere.
- The hints help you from going off course if you aren't good at following the subtle hints in the story itself or are resuming another day or in another update.
- It's obvious to me that Glacerose puts a lot of effort into this. They didn't have to rehaul to make the game even better. They could've just kept going from the old version and I don't think many would have complained but this new result is quite good. Leaves me looking forward to future updates even more.
- Still holds true that outside of maybe a typo here or there, that gets corrected upon being told. The game's text is not bad english or anything along those lines.

Overall, I'd recommend anyone to try this game at least once. It's still one of my top 5 easy. And with all the new updates I've played and the rehaul, it's easily able to be a 4 star game and unless Glacerose starts getting really lazy or something. I'd say this game is a 100% 5 star once it's done. I'm actually going to go ahead and give this game a 5 now actually. Unless future updates prove disappointing, it'll be well deserved if its not already even.

For update version 0.085, review on 12/17/2018:

I'm gonna start this by saying there will be some minor spoilers, I'll close each character detail in a spoiler tag but read anything at your own risk there. I'm also not gonna go into huge amount of details at the moment, the game is quite new. It's being updated frequently, currently it's every two weeks. It started as every week, but to give more time to test things and such it was pushed to every other week. Which is quite reasonable. No sex is in the game yet, but it will be added. Though there are sexual situations, nudity and such as of now. Just don't expect it to be a jerk off only game.

It's obviously meant to be a romance game, building up to the relationships. You really can't get a failure state (not sure if there ever will be one?) as of the current build at least, you can romance all the girls as well so far. So there's no pick one and you miss the others. So right now it's pretty linear in that sense, but that's fine. The story is enjoyable, I'm actually quite interested in where the protag's history is gonna be. But as of now, it's mostly just getting introduced to each girl's personality and the gaming mechanics.

I'm gonna start with the characters in more details. Read at your risk of possible spoilers.







So for a less spoilery tag of character. Serra is the shy one, Gracie is the outdoorsy one, Celeste is the tsudere, Alex is the mother hen, and Lillian is the nerdy gives no fucks one,. All the girls have their own personality. Quite enjoyable.

As for bugs and grammar, there have been bugs and some typos and such. If any get spotted, if you report them Glacerose fixes them on the next update. Most of which for grammar or typos are obvious mistypes or such. Nothing that will take you out of the story or make you go...uh wtf is that meant to be. So it's obvious Glacerose either has a real good handle on the English language or it's their first language. (I haven't asked nor seen mention but I know a lot of games on here, the first language isn't English and it gets really bad in some games. So that's why I bring this up.)

As of now there isn't a ton of content, it's mostly laying the ground works and showing what we'll be able to do. It's rough around the edges, short but has amazing potentional in my eyes. Due to the content and such, I can't really give it more than a 3 star right now, but when this gets completed if it keeps up as is. I could easily see this as a 5 star game.

But as of now, it's so early in the stages I can't give it more. I do think reviewing such an early version is a bit unfair, as you may look and see 3 stars ah well nothing special. But it is special long as it keeps this route, it's definitely a game to watch out for.

Once this game has more content, etc.. I'll revise my review and it'll be able to be more proper persay, but I'd recommend anyone to try this game out long as you're not looking just for a quick wank. It's got story, and depth to it. Not just fuck me harder baby. Which for me personally, if I want just the wank material that's what porn is for. If I'm playing a game, adult or otherwise, I want development.

Hope this helps someone to decide if its' for them, never been a reviewer myself so excuse me if it's a bit rambled at points but it is a game I look forward to every other sunday.

This game is easily worth 4 stars now and is closing in on 5. I gave a 3 star review on this game a long time ago and was happy to discover a new major revision of the game had been done. There is greater detail below but for those who want to get right to the point, the vast majority of negatives are nitpicky things. This game is well worth playing in it's current form with attention to details, world building, character building, relationship building, and general plot.

Quick synopsis: the main characters are a conceited tsundere, a motherly type, a no bullshit low modesty geek girl, a shy girl, and a nature girl. There are also a variety of side characters who are still in development but look like they will provide a great deal of variety in personality types.

There is a variety of sexual content and fetishes in this version. You play the part of the MC and there are no 'bad choices' in this game - it is closer to a VN but where you control the pacing of the unlocking of content. So far the storylines don't seem to interconnect - meaning while characters talk about each other to a limited amount, nothing that happens with one, appears to impact the others.

The game is fun and relatively easy to navigate with a solid (though not perfect) hint/help system.

What's new ... the first thing is the art work is MUCH improved. Whereas before it was average nothing too terrible but nothing great either, now it is eye catching. While speaking about the art work it should be mentioned that the girls eyes all match their hair. I think most will like this while others might find it a bit off putting.

Another thing I enjoy about this game (related to art work) is there is a variety of outfits. The girls actually wear different clothes depending on what they are doing. Although in a few spots it still needs some correction (I can imagine a woman ordering pizza but not making one in her business suit) overall, it is refreshing to see and a great job was done there.

The story line has been tweaked and updated. Let me start by saying the story overall is fantastic compared to most of the rest of the genre. A lot of attention was put into relationship, character, and world building. It is not yet what I could call "believable" but it does a far better job than the vast majority of what's out there and is enjoyable.

With all the above having been said I am more ambivalent about the changes that were done. I preferred the amnesia trope to the current introduction of the MC.
Another major change was to Serra's storyline. I am still interested in where things will go but my initial reaction was not positive. Even with that I want to say she remains one of my favorite characters.

All the characters characterizations were much improved overall. I still have the same complaint about Celeste however. While I like the idea of her, the execution of her character type is not yet well done. Even with that, I still enjoy reading about her. And her boss (a side character), Mr Nakatoni (I may be spelling that wrong) remains my favorite character in the game - he is funny and awesome!

Sexual content. This game has far more content than the previous versions - it still has a ways to go but it has enough to be initially satisfying. One of the things that stands out for me is the variety of pubic hair vs shaved. That detail was very appreciated (especially since I prefer girls with it). Appealing to some (although a turn off for me) was the addition of a foot fetish, and rim jobs. I also have a hard time believing any girl that would prefer her first experience to be anal play.

As far as sexual content goes, I would like the opportunity of choice. So if someone likes a girl and wants to see the relationship with them progress, they don't get grossed out by the MC licking a butthole if that's not the reader's fetish.

This review is already very lengthy so I am going to tie it up here and repeat what I said in the beginning. An excellent game and even if it has a good distance to travel still, I see this eventually being a 5 star game and it is well worth playing in it's current form. Much kudos to Glacerose.

The disclaimer first. Currently the game is pretty new and the content is also spread pretty evenly around the five girls, so seeing it all doesn't take that long. Because of this I might have given a three star rating if that didn't equal "average", but I think the "good" four star rating is more how I feel about the game as it is as of now (hopefully I can change this when the game has grown)...

If you want to quickly get to the sex this isn't really the game for you. But if you want to get to know the girls (with some flashing teasing and peeping) on the way to eventual sex (when it's added), it's worth giving a go. As for the girls you've got the tsundere, the shy girl (my two favorites) the motherly type along with the gamer girl and the nature lover. So all the bases I can think of right now are covered there.

I like the slow burn relationships with the bit's of teasing along the way to keep you interested (that also keeps true to the girls personality's), and I like the fact we seem like a ok guy with the way we treat all the girls (even if we are probably after them all).

If I had to pick something negative, there's worse out there but the images seem a bit grainy. If I had to pick something I want in the game, animations might be nice.

Edit - We now have some animations!

Edit Again - With the new remade game the image quality got a big boost, no more grain. The main characters new origin does make the game feel a bit less cheery though.
