Unity - Taffy Tales [S1 v1.0.35 Redux] [UberPie]

I have only played since 0.11.X and it's only seen vast (albeit arguably slow) improvement both content, animation, and art wise. But at least this developer isn't milking this game dry for years and years with very little content. There is clear improvement and actually new content. Not taking extra time to "redo art" or anything. Just content and improvements all around.

I thought the game was great. The only negatives I can think of are the mild grammatical errors and spikes in puzzle difficulty. In my honest opinion the positives far outweigh the negatives. For instance the character interaction was engaging, the humor was spot on when attempted, the artwork was good at some points and impressive at others, it also didn't fuck with my music and turn mine off even though I muted that games sound/music (I didn't give the ost a chance , like most games, since I prefer to listen to my playlist.), finally ,and I cannot stress this enough, they have bowling. Boom! 10/10 in my book!

The art is pretty good, the gameplay/mechanics is just okay. The story is iffy to me, I'll put it in the category of decent games you fap to. But back to the story. The MC is an average, easy going guy that happens to be blessed with a massive schlong(Shocker). He comes off as the typical pushover who gets walked all over by a lot of people including the typical "Black Bully". The Black bully who easily somehow seduces and gropes girls with little to no effort or consequences. That same Black bully causes the MC to get hit by a car, which is when the story takes off.

The MC develops an alter ego or voice in his head that's pretty much a perverted psychopath... which is touch and go for me. Yeah sure, that no nonsense alter ego helps to deal with pricks like the Black bully or Priscilla but instead he focuses on the wrong people. I don't like the fact that there was no sort of love path and that the game is purely submission. Clara, the woman who's always been nice and sweet to the MC becomes it first "Slave". The fact that she was already down on her luck and in despair and MC still targeted her seemed kinda sour to me. There at least should've been an option to take the corruption path or love path like most Devs use. Don't get me wrong the sex scenes are hot but too much of the same thing gets boring and old. Same thing with Becca she's the typical sweet, shy, timid girl who wants to be loved but is also turned into a fuck slave eventually. I just would rather have options when seducing women but that's me.

Update v0.47.5a Edit: So Mary, the woman every has been dying to bed and fuck for over 2 years now, gets a NTR scene with Darnell that's out of nowhere. And you can't avoid it, whether done deliberately or not if the Dev wanted NTR all long he should've been honest enough with his base to say that, it makes him look really bad here.

Never has good art been so let down by awful gameplay.

Taffy Tales is a point and click "game" coded in Unity, which would be infinitely better as a linear story coded in Ren'py. Why? Well:

1. You have no choices. Despite the fact that the mission log seems to imply that you can choose to do things in the order you wish, almost all content relies on previous content being completed before it'll even unlock. So you get the non-choice of doing one mission, then still having to do the other anyway. It would be functionally unchanged as a linear story, and the pacing would be improved.

2. Pretending to be a game. This is one of the most common problems in adult games, and it's in Taffy Tales in spades. As is usual in sandboxes, you're forced to grind money to buy items to move the story forward. But there's never any jeopardy: no time limits, no risk, no objective expiring or loss of reputation with a character. You're forced to grind just to add a couple hundred clicks of the mouse to the game. And don't forget exploration! Go places, look at things! Explore, like the adventure games of old! Except you can't. You can only discover things as the mission log updates to allow you to, so it's all just useless locations you can waste time clicking to.

3. The interface. You have a map (a dozen clicks to get anywhere), a mission log (meaningless, as you're forced to do it all no matter what, and it doesn't track missions properly, see below), an inventory that you literally never need to see, and an MC stat page that you literally never need to see. The game also tracks the day and time, which is completely irrelevant 99% of the time. All of this represents an enormous amount of unnecessary work on behalf of the dev.

4. The interface part 2: everything is slow. Everything you can interact with can be examined for no reason. You get the exact same repeated message when you look at something every time you look at it. "Ah!" you might think, "but then I'll know when something changes and I'll know to check again!" Wrong. Whenever you actually need to interact with something, you get a brand-new prompt. So it's all useless clutter. But let me give you a better example: sleeping. If you want the day to cycle, you click a dozen times to get into your house. You click your bed. You click sleep. You now see some useless dialogue about the MC sleeping. Then you see him strip. Then lay in bed. Then fade to black. Then the game title, Taffy Tales, pops up, along with the number of days you've spent in-game. On day 1, this is slow. Then, as days go by, this becomes frustrating. Then annoying. Then infuriating. By the time I was on Day 80, I hated that I had to spend 20 seconds just watching the MC sleep in what should be an instant process. And this is just one area; this sort of design is pervasive throughout.

5. Bugs. The game is full of them, some game-breaking, some not. The dev seems to patch relatively quickly, but certain things remain. The most obvious is that the mission log informs you of "NEW MISSION!!" seemingly randomly. Sometimes, nothing is there at all; sometimes you've completed a mission, so the new mission is actually a mission leaving your log; sometimes you get a new mission with spoilers for something you haven't even come across yet. It's a mess.

But that's enough game design talk. Now onto the mediocre: the story.

You play a young man with a split personality. You might expect this to mean that there is some interplay between the sweeter, lighter side and the darker, more aggressive side of his mind. Nope! The dev wants to have their cake and eat it too. So your sweet side goes, "noooo, don't be mean!" while the dark side takes complete control and is a sadist to every woman in the entire game. Only in the very most recent updates does the MCs dialogue with a character determine how lovingly/sadistically he treats them. The entire split personality system is clearly designed not for having internal conflict, but for having a sadist path and an NTR path through the game. This is, to my mind, a lost opportunity for some interesting storytelling.

And now the only good part of the game: the art. The art has an interesting and exaggerated style (that I think of as 'off-brand Incase', because the influence is obvious) that is generally consistent throughout. I say generally because, while the portrait images of characters are well-crafted, when characters are in sexual situations that involve different positions their designs can be somewhat inconsistent. There are also occasional inconsistencies between the art and the text. One character is described as having a very small penis (thumb-sized) and is then drawn with an at least 8 inch cock. Strange. But the art is definitely the main draw of the game, and if the style appeals you'll enjoy it throughout.

All in all, I would say that Taffy Tales is a sloppy effort. There are a number of missed opportunities and outright infuriating design choices that subtract substantially from decent writing and good art . I wouldn't consign it to the garbage heap, but I won't be waiting with baited breath for the next release.

I always want more of the game update after update it makes me enjoy so much, i dont want to spoil anything just play it!

A unique artsyle with a flair for the macabre, I am glad to say Taffy Tales is one of my favorites when looking forward to future updates/the release of a full game.
There is an fair amount of choice on your treatment of other characters throughout the game with your own development as a MC. It is also a delight to see there is a choice to see certain fetishes/scenes that one possibly would not want to participate in.

Its a solid game, pretty damn good art, average funny writting,the story its getting interesting so thats a good thing , but what i think its the most important thing its an active dev/writter on the forum answering questions and updating with info.

Love the art style, characters, gameplay and fetish, the story is not the best but not bad at all, it's fine for me.

I really love this game. the game I'm most looking forward to.the characters are nice, the art is nice, not much of a story or options yet, but i have high hopes.also like the fetishes they have in game. can't wait for the next updates!

This game has everything you could want. I don;t have anything else to say on that matter but because of the character limits I have to keep going. What else can I say? You like busty women? It has them. You like more interesting looking characters? Thats the busty women and the non-busty ones too. The story is funny as well as sexy. If that NTR tag is bugging you then have no fear: its look cucking someone else who just so happens to be the father of another girl you're trying to bone. What's not to love?

The art is above average. Some are questionable and won't be to everyone's taste but it's not bad and why it's not one star.

The game is very buggy which brings down the score immensely. Playing on android causes wierd artifacting on both edges of the game. The game keeps prompting me to go see what someone is doing but doesnt give me the option to do so. (Namely attempting to go to Darnel and Becca's respective houses.) I've tried it on two seperate save files, one with the max cheat and one without and it consistently doesn't let me do anything. Another problem is theres often little indication of what's clickable and what's not. Often times when I'm stuck on a quest, like getting the ball with the rope, I just randomly started clicking in every location hoping to find what to do till I found out you need to click on part of what looks like the background of Priscilla's house. There are also moments when characters will use the default name instead of the player name.

I really want to give the rest of the game a chance but between the glitches and the very unlikable protagonist I cannot really recomend this game.

The art style is awesome. Hope it gets updated more frequently. And I hope the NTR route is completely avoidable, else it may screw up what has been built for so long. The maid update was the best bit of the game but I'd like to see more of the teacher and her daughter and also Mary.

The writing is funny, smart and not riddled with typos, the art really fits with the theme and the dev is exploring fetishes many other game won't touch.
Really refreshing to see a complex game without the cookie-cutter Illusion assets.
4 out of 5 stars, because nothing can ever be perfect. But this is a damn good game in a sea of mediocre ones. Kudos to the dev and keep up the good work.

So I have not Finished this game while i give it 5 stars for what i have played so far the are issues.

first It lets you rename the MC and housemates but then will at time still call them the default name this is not a big deal just jarring when you go from your changed name to default back to the changed in 3 screens again not a big issue but still an issue

second now this one could just be because it is a game in progress but there are things that happen out of order you will get Blackmail on one person to then meet that person for the first time in the very next quest. This can be as i said because of the game being a work in progress as they can have more then one person writing and the throw it together and make it work so they can meet updates. No need to leave out content just because it happens out of order a little right?

Last this one is the only real ding for me and then it is not a big one there are Events that take up a whole day without ever giving you a clue that they will do that so you plan your day do this in the AM do this at lunch do this at dusk and then off to night time things BUT the am thing takes all day now you have a hole in the nest couple of days because you need to go back

This game is addictive. not gonna lie I was skeptical at first. the artwork is so good in fact its the first thing attract me to this game. and I'm not disappointed.
there are few bugs and name error. but I believe it'll be fixed later.

for me who already get tired of all the vanilla stuff, this is right in my alley.

Honestly speaking I rated this game 5/5 exactly 2 years ago. Since then my opinion changed based on the current state of the game. Originally the game had really good art, was kinda weird and unique but in a good way but now? Updates are coming after such a long time that you forget almost everything. Saves are not compatible and cheat code for "continue at new content" is since last update unavailable. Why you ask? Because there is literally no new content, just redoing old stuf which was already good and makig the more of a grind.

Story after these years got confusing and too many characters and plots got in a way. Story is just one big mess where the main plot is never touched on or when it is it doesn't make any sense. I get that making a story in a game over all these years can be challenging but that can be easilily done by having a plan where the story and fanservice should go.

Art of the game was initially static and but pretty good. Nowadays everything has to move, have all those small effects like blinking, l2d and other things that don't add the overall story, gameplay and feeling nothing. I get it it looks maybe better but it's like having animated doujins, it's good but not really worth it.

Gameplay is a grind. I like grindy games but this is too much. No compatibility between versions and even with skipping the minigames and unlimited money just going through the scenes takes sooo much time that it's boring. Wanted to see new content so skipped through like 7% of the game in like 2 hours only holding control and reading nothing. Itstruction in the quest menu are nonexistent and most of the time you end up wondering what the f. to do. There is no highlighting or anything so you better get used to trying to find something with higher res on screen and then click it. Sometimes the gameplay feels just like a try and error simulator.

Overall the game in it's early state was great. Art was unique, scenes pretty good and the overarching story interesing. These days it's only a mess. Too many uninteresting story lines with no control over which path to go, not compatible saves, poor galery, quest info with almost no info, no map highlighting where are currently quests and more. Updates are delayed and pushed around like no tommorow, there is no roadmap or anything about what will be added and the overall experience with the game dev seems like they are just milking the heck out of it with no interest in making the game better and continue forth. Feedback to make the game better is either not collected or nobody cares. Last year this game just seems as another Summertime Saga clone not in graphics but in gameplay metodology and dev milking mindset.

Giving out worst rating and expecting the game changed and improved in near future. Would recommend other people to make their dissatisfaction public and increase the chace to be heard by the dev.

If you're looking for something vanilla - love story bullshit, then don't play this game. If you've had enough family strokes porn, had enough tentacle / loli / ahegao and other types of hentai shit , then you're ready to play this game.

Well, i'm gona tell totally my point of view and... I didn't like the game.
I'm sorry but it's true, but first i'm going to explain the strong points of the game (I dont like it but I understand some people can enjoy it)

- First of all, it have a variety of characters, different bodies and personalities for your peasure, much more than many games I've played

- Secondly, it has a well-worked plot, with some "sidequests" and kind of reasonable conversations

- Also, the art is great, maybe it's a bit fetishism, but great. In fact one of the best.

So, why the 2 stars? Well... If you play it correctly, you will have to pass tons and tons of dialogues to only one mildly hot scene! And thats for all the characters. It's so many time wasted there to get some nudes, and i'm not talking about sex, huh.
So, I hate skip scenes and plot, so I had to do it to get something that... I expected more and it grind my gears.

And don't get me wrong, I'm sure the game has many great scenes, but i'm not gonna spend so many time.
Finally, if you're like me and for some case one day only want to get good scenes, I recomend you to get the save archive. It has soooo great art and is a pain to don't enjoy it.

So, as I said before, thats my personal opinion. The game has a great art, but it's kinda difficult to enjoy it because of time, if you don't mind it, play it. If you dont like it, download the save and both ways, enjoy!!

That some people rated this game as 'realistic and gritty' or 'a dynamic of good vs evil' is a complete laughing stock. The game has two essential pathways, be a a wimpy incel turned incel rapist who can't stand up for himself without being an absolute psycho; Or be a spineless loser incel who can't stand up for himself at all.

There's nothing realistic about the absurd amount of women being turned on by the bully character over nothing but a predominant theme of "women are kinda just majority submissive to assholes who are also black at the same time." In reality, the amount of women who are turned on enough by this fetish to demean themselves in their day to day lives is a small minority, even smaller if you consider that the bully character is literally a rapey creep. This unrealistic nature of the game would be forgivable if the scenario's premise wasn't just insultingly bad to begin with.

That there's no path to simply actualize yourself as self-confident and follow a relatively normal unrealistic harem path just seems like an unnecessary limitation on the story, and sets up this ridiculous dynamic I mention in the first part of the review. Setting up a scenario where you are either cuckold or a rapist isn't in any way "realistic" or even really gritty, it's just bad writing made to hamfist two preferred fetishes that make the game bad for anyone who doesn't have those two specific fetishes. 0/10, 1/5 should be more fleshed out given how long the game's been in development as well.
