Unity - Taffy Tales [S1 v1.0.35 Redux] [UberPie]

One of the worst experiences I had in a while in this site...
Sure, there are way worse-looking, clunky, buggy or with stupid stories games.
The problem here is that you start playing, notice some problems and get in that mode in which you think: " well,surely it will get better later, right?". And it doesn't.

Best thing I did was download a save and check the gallery. Played a few hours, got no enjoyment. Checked the gallery, played some events. Nothing interested me...

It feels like at some points it got a heart and something put effort into it. No idea how it got to this points though.

Visuals: this game got my attention because of its unique look, in a first glance. Sadly it got boring really fast as the art started giving a weird generic feel. Didn't help that the MC looks dumb (to match his 0personality I guess).
I guess my problem was that the faces have some weird expressions, and mostly looking always the same.
I'm also not really interested in exaggerated body parts, so that certainly plays its role in my experience.
And then in the sex scenes I don't think they did a good job with the posing. When the renders are alternated to simulate motion you don't really get something that feels real, with friction or anything like that. It feels bland, idk.
In the end it got boring really fast. Not the worst, it just did nothing to me. Not once I managed to find something hot. It's a porn game... But just to be fair, once again, this part I believe to be more personal, so I can take easier on the "score".

Sadly, that's just about everything I could try to see some good in it.

UI/UX: my experience with the game got really bad the more I played because of the stupid transitions all over the place. At least when the game is made on Ren'py the devs usually maintain to option to skip transitions. And I don't mean cutscenes or events transitions. It looks like everything that happens must have a fade out/fade in too inflate "game time". What is the reason to force me to wait a few milliseconds every time I click on something? Everytime I stard/end a dialogue, receive an item, repeat an action... anything. It makes the game just stupidly slow for no gain. If this would be put in a build up scene, where you have sex for the first time with someone, after antecipating it for a while... but no, it is just everywhere.

The skip time option disappeared after a while...
I never had any use for the inventory screen.
The hints UI look ok I guess.
Map is ok as well.

Another UX thing that is badly done is when you want to byu things. You can't just enter 'shop mode' as you would expect. No. You have to talk to the person, get through all the dialogue and then buy ONE thing. If you want to buy more, click again, talk again and the get to the point of selection ONE thing to buy. It wouldn't be much if I was already having to click needlessly in a lot of other moments. The game ends up feeling like those click to win games. I honestly ended up expecting some mobile bs to start happenning.


Event System and Game Design: that was the first thing that bothered me. The way story and things progress in the game makes no sense. They are in no way really connected. Ofc, sometimes things makes sense. But overall, they don't.
They you start seeing events overlapping (NPC appears more than one time in the same scene lol) and you don't really have a thread to follow. Sometimes you just look to the hints and try to guess what that hint was supposed to mean (a few times they were even misleading).


Story: I do hate when Devs create another personality to justify the MCs actions. In the end, it is basically a kinect experience since your choices, in the rare moment they are presented to you, make no difference basically. I'm not a NTR fan, but I guess even then I would be disappointed since I'm not really the one doing or suffering things. The alter ego is just always there. Wish it was more of a subtle influence, etc.
The MC is really annoying. Talks too much about things that doesn't add anything to the story. And listen, I'm an RPG guy. I played Baldurs Gate, Skyrim... I open the books and read them. Because they add context to the world. Here? At few times they did. Most are the dumb mc mumbling or whining

Sound: since I was getting bothered really fast, I ended up muting the sound right away. The music wasn't bad, but being used as highlighting for events or mood changes was getting annoying too fast. But it might be mostly because of that bad experience with the story progression, the annoying MC and, well, every annoying NPC.
SFX overall are there, but I ended up muting them when I didn't hear anything in the scenes. (or were them attached to the music and that's why I heard nothing? that would be dumb, but well...)

As I said, with a few hours got no enjoyment out of it.
Can't really recommend, it just really didn't work for me.

My journey with this game was a long one.

Taffy Tales has had quite the reputation for years now, usually among the sort of people that take a strange sense of pride in the embarrassing things they fap to.

And this game explains a lot of that.

I was told to play the new NTR route because it was a shit show.

It is. It's just as bad as you've heard, and probably even worse. The AI art is not just atrocious, but the really insulting part about it is that it features quite a few errors that would be trivial to fix. But you know what?

He just didn't.

Why?

I don't know.

So okay, the NTR route sucks. We all know that by now. But wait, this route is nothing like the game before, or so I'm told. The content before is classic weg goodness, and is the inspiration for so many games on this site.

Surely it must be so much better...right?

No.

It's not.

The NTR route has one massive improvement over the original route.

It fucking ends. It only takes about an hour and half to do and while it's just a series of really racist caricatures that only an embarrassingly European person could possibly masturbate to, it has the grace to bow out and finish after you've watched enough melted candle wax women drink fluids from bottles.

The main route is not nearly so merciful. The actual first time you can get the MC's dick into a marelike nightmare vagina is about 3 hours in if you actually read this ChatGPT nonsense.

Every background is a fever dream. A solemn dread fills my being recalling the ethereal blur that stretches across my monitor. Nothing has mattered less to this Dev than where his characters are in time and space. Nothing rewards you for looking away from the characters. You are met with winding hallways, impossible Euclidian geometry, and sets that I can only describe as hyperbolic.

The only comparison I could possibly make for how the open world segments of this game feel is the Bataan Death March; a defeated soldier being forced forward at bayonet point to what I can only hope is a ditch and a bullet with my name on it.

The event order makes absolutely no sense. None. The quest journal is less helpful than just clicking around randomly. The sole mini-game is a fapping simulator that takes about 45 minutes to actually unlock.

The only good addition to the main route made with this latest update is Taksh and only because I suspect he might pull a school shooting and mercy kill these microwaved barbie doll characters.

Please don't play this game. There is no redeeming feature present worth your time, dignity or patience.

There is no acquired taste here, only the sad settling of a 40 year old virgin taking whatever he can possibly get so that he doesn't die alone and is surrounded by his hateful step children (wife's sons) who will rob his corpse the second his last breath leaves his sad, tormented lungs.

You deserve better. You matter more than this game. Do not play it.

Why does a game about having sex with women take so fucking long to have sex with women. It constantly cock blocks you in nonsensical ways because he needs you to come back for the next update. The open world is an insane labyrinth that's actually gotten worse over time. Most games when they change the early sections make them more streamlined so it's easier to digest and get to the parts people like. Somehow it is even more convoluted. Also a lot of the new "content" added in this new early game is AI assets that look worse than the older work.

EDIT: the new NTR stuff is incredibly weak. Where's the fucking despair man? It feels so tacked on and lazy.

I didn't know that they were going to use AI until I noticed it in the scenes, which denotes the developers' loss of interest in their product, I have nothing against NTR but you have to know when it can work and when it doesn't, the example from mangakas when they make a harem manga and suddenly fill it with NTR, the fans get angry and forget about the work, I know the NTR route is avoidable, but it's wasted time and content

The devs unfortunately seem to have gotten bored with working on the game. This last update the lack of effort and laziness really showed. The amount of content received did not move forward storylines meaningfully and quality of the art has dipped drastically as they are now relying on AI to do a large part of the work for them. Do not support them on Patreon.

Where to begin... the game starts off well with a story that seems interesting enough, the mechanics/sandbox and quest hint system works well, the art is nice, but with the last few updates it all just fell apart, especially trying to juggle ntr and non ntr routes(which I played both) the writing is super lazy, either the MC is a cuck or a weird rapist that almost seems boarder line school sh**ter if he didn't have his rape powers, the antagonist Darnell seems better written but the writer tries his best to make him unlikeable in the laziest way. Now the art went downhill since lazily using AI, the story got boring and to get to the new content just becomes a grind to get each new scene. Overall a game that couldn've been in the top 10 or 20 when complete is pretty ruined and I will not play future updates.

Fun in the beginning, but most of the game is just a single character, which I would even go as far as to call side character. This game has few characters with a decent amount of content, rest have like... 3 scenes, if not less. Recent update introduced AI imaginery... The update was so hyped just for them to underdeliver like that...

I'm giving it 2 stars as it has atleast something praiseworthy.

This just keep getting worst with every update. Clearly the road map is a joke and always the same girls with constant updates. The ai nightmare fuel and the developers weird netorare fetish was the las drop for me...

The game is good. Really like Becca, Priscilla and Stacy. Red's an interesting way to get the MC to become kind of a chad. I wish some of the task notes were more clear on what to do but other than that the game is fine.

Game has had its ups and downs with development hell but the art is amazing and the story is really hot and compelling. I always come back and check in on this one, it's definitely worth it.

Writing is good and animation is stellar.

Quite extensive very enjoyable game. Wish there was a bit less milf focus as that's not my preference but there's plenty of other girls to enjoy. Really looking forward to where the interactions with Chantelle, Tiffanie and Stacy end up.

lots of typos, if you changed the players name it often times reverts back to peter, trap content is avoidable in name only since the game's script is written as if you did the trap content, the most boring and dull character, clara, makes up a large portion of the games content. and then there's the possibly surprise gay scene with mia/ash. i don't really know since there's nothing saying it's a girl, a guy, or a trans character. all i kow is the scene is unavoidable and came out of nowhere.

Honestly playing this game it has one massive upside. Good Art. I would only play this game with the gallery unlocked. Anything else is painful as the game has no gameplay loop.
You will get a note telling you a trigger, You then serch the map for it. Click on it, Get a new trigger. Rinse and repeat until a crumb of pussy is delivered.
All characters are one note and lack any sort of subtley or depth mostly serving as a trope for a given fetish.

Fetish content is a whole other issue (See current ongoing NTR debate) but that isn't the issue is the game constantly flip flops pure porn logic and softer seductions never settling on which one it wants to be. Meaning if you're playing for the softer stuff, you're grossed out. If you're a degenerate you're bored.

The game is clearly a victim of Patron bloat with lots of people with lots of wants pulling the game every direction at once leaving no one happy. Like I said at the start. Only worth playing with a gallery mod.

Love the artwork and the the whole corruption thing on the girls. While the ntr isn't my best interest it's a good thing that it can be avoided and not be a hurdle on the main route of the game. Femboy is a win in my book too

It is the game with great visuals and interesting kinks that fit my fav. I really enjoy to watch the playthrough video on the sites.

However, as long as I started to play it, there are some problems that causes blue balls.
1. The time concept in game is useless.
2. Lack of the instructions to players.
3. Bugs.

Still looking forward to the future updates. The AIGC is okay to me.

The latest update is a few scenes that last maybe half an hour and uses terrible AI art. If the game was pushing out a lot of updates and was otherwise making progress AI art is forgivable in some situations but not in this one. The story has gotten worse, the new art doesn't match the old art and they're starting the plot split so there's even less content. This update took nearly a year to complete and it's not integrated with the rest of the game at all so the current game is a tiny sliver of content with a completely nonsensical NTR plot added onto it. The nosedive in quality is a sign to move on.

Main story currently almost non exsitent. Its seems the focus is more on individual character stories which play out almost everytime the same. The male character, or more specific the alter ego that leads the progression called 'RED', is an absolute dick and more or less transforms every woman into a submissive slut. Meaning assholes are the kings in taffy tales, they get the rewards at the end.

The writing itself is good. No broken english and the h-scenes are described 'extensivly'.

Art:3/5
While most of the time the art is good and unique. The main problem is consistency, the woman seem to look different in a lot of scenes. Sometimes older characters suddenly seem junger (or vice versa), the facial shapes and skin colors vary. It could be that multiple artists work on the project(?).

OST:2/5
Often the same soundtrack, little variation.

Conclusion:2.5/5
One dimensional theme/story (assholes win) with one dimensional characters. Art that varies in quality and consistency.

Note:
Although it is pointed out in the overview that NTR is completely optional, it seems that more focus is placed on this fetish from update to update.

With the last update (v0-95-7), a completely independent NTR route was added that accounts for more than 30% of the scenes. In my opinion a very questionable decision, given that this fetish can really only be enjoyed by a minority, while being unplayable and funded by the rest. But that's a problem the current parteons have to deal with. (Who aren't exactly happy with the new content distribution from what i've heard. )

Been following the game for a couple years now and honestly, it was real nice in the beginning. But it got worse overtime until this moment where i don't even know why am playin anymore.

To put it in a few word, promising story is goin in circle for quite some years now, so are the situation (girl don't like you, make girl to like you, create again and again the same dom/sub relationship), art have degradated to the point where dev rather use AI to make it than to do it himself.

I have the feeling that as i don't know why am playin this, the author don't know what to do with the game either.

Honestly, i hoped the NTR route would freshen up the game, but it's not even as good as the main story line.

Perhaps it is time for the author to wrap it up and put an end to this instead of adding tons of girls and detour that he himself don't really have any appeal for.

NTR content was promised from the beginning - so complaining on that end is just pointless. However, what does hold true from all of those reviews is that the last update is 100 times worst than previous ones.

One there is a lack of depth to each path NTR or non-NTR - it's just a blueball fest.

And two, which is more egregious, is that the AI art is actually trash, literal trash. I can't believe all of Uber's patreons are okay with that, because it is seriously such a downstep from the actual art.

The game is good but lags in some scenes, and needs more mouse activity. many characters to develop so hopefully you need more time to finish this game. should donate to the publisher and best wish for you
