Unity - Taffy Tales [S1 v1.1.53 Redux] [UberPie]

They've added a lot of AI generated content in season 5. And now in Redux version it's clear that AI stuff is no a placeholder. AI backgrounds, AI static CG art. The fact that they are using AI maybe is not a deal-breaker for some people. It irks me, sure, but the worst crime is that how bad it looks and how lazy it's done. Mismatching styles (generic anime style doesn't mix well with the game's original style), ton of image artefacts. Game went downhill after 0.89.x. Oh what a shame.

Just finished the redux, and i have to say i liked it, compared to the old version its much easier to navigate, and the art( regardless if it's AI or Artist driven) looks great, i cant wait for further seasons

Very good story and characters, love the direction it takes. Clara's story line kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, and when it was over I was begging for more. The pacing is very good, not feeling too slow but not feeling like it was rushing to get done for important characters at least.

Good game. Lots of content. Play old patches if you want to see everything and don't care as much about QOL improvements and ai art, but I also enjoyed the redux. Lots of QOL complaints in other reviews have been fixed/added in the redux.

Honestly wanted to rate this one 1/5 for how frustrating it was, but after some time with it, I don't think that would be fair.

• This game starts as a humiliation ritual, everyone and everything is bullying MC. And protagonist not only has vacuum instead of ballsack but he's also pretty much lobotomized, definitely in the top 3 of the most retarded protags ever. If he didn't suddenly become schizo with sexual maniac as his second persona, he'd be a perfect little cuck.
• Speaking of everyone, initially majority of characters are a repulsive bunch, the kind you'd never want to deal with, ever. And ofc it's the protagonist's magic cock's duty to turn them all into normal ass human beings (or sex slaves). It will take a while to feel any sympathy or attraction towards any member of the female cast, and I actually like this kind of approach. You progress each girs's storyline in predetermined course one after another and not just in any order you'd like (mostly), so it's not a real proper sandbox experience. The major issue that I've come across is that a lot of developments just stop abruptly, examples: Stacy has been established as the main love interest and immediately put on the back burner; MC's indian friend betrayed him and MC swears revenge, but then the friend in question is thrown out of the picture for the rest of the game; You convince rich couple to increase school funding for a favor from principal, but it goes nowhere; MC is in the process of worming his teacher off the drugs, but stops in the middle to suddenly pursue other girls, and so on ...
• There is no coherence in storytelling. A bunch of random shit is happening out of sequence and at the same time, and it's frankly overwhelming. The narrative is so terribly inconsistent: first MC calls Priscilla "An insufferable cunt", then sometime later he says "You should call her like that, she's just a girl and probably has her own issues"; we already know who Chantelle is from very beginning, but way later on in the game MC "finally finds out" that Darnell has a sister, and later at the gym they're like "do I know you?", bruh they've already met like 5 times, what the actual fuck? Author clearly didn't care about the usual sandbox issue of order and inconsistency, and this game is one of the worst offenders in this regard.
• The game features the worst incest censor I've come across. Both mother and sister have their name and relation as a single variable. By default it's 'Mary' and 'Tiffany'. You can leave it as is, but then they will be referred to "your/our/my Mary", as in "your/our/my mom", and "my/your/his Tiffany" instead of "my/your/his sister". And you can change them to 'Mom' and 'Sister' respectively, but then other side characters that have no relation to your family would also call them mom/sister. This kind of detail always ruins any immersion whenever it pops up.
• Quest log is horrible. It's often unclear of what you should be doing: like "you have to buy this thing", but never explaining how to make money, or "you have to spy on someone", but not mentioning where they are, or "attend class in the evening" even tho those are the closing hours and there are no classes, "Spy on Sara's backyard", where is her backyard? and so on. Not to mention that when the game tells you to interact with a character it doesn't specify where, and characters seem to be at several places at the same time (what kind of black magic is that). So if you spoke with the "wrong version" of the character you might just fast the time forward and will have to wait till next day do try again, this is so bullshit.
• Every time you try to interact with invalid objects, it rolls a freaking cut-scene, just to waste player's time.
• No rollback and no text history either.
• No basic QOL feature like autosave.
• Whenever you load a save with quest log open, it remains open, so if the save is at the dialogue screen - tough luck, try a different save bro.
• No "go to sleep" button, so every in game day you have to: click the map -> home -> front door -> stairs -> MC's room -> bed.
• Some actions forward time of day while others don't and there seems to be no logic behind which is which. Like you talk to someone and nothing happens, then you talk to someone right next to them and it's now it's suddenly evening, so instead of doing something useful for the progress, you just wasted an in-game day on a repeatable encounter. And remember - no rollback, so fuck you.
• The is no different formatting for dialogue and narration, so you often have to guess which is which.
• Speaking of narration - there is too much ot it. It's ratio to dialogue is like 80-20, if not higher, shit's just tiring to read.
• The English is fine but there are loads of typos all over the place, so very minimal proof-reading job was done. Characters also often call you Peter, instead of a chosen name.
• It takes a long while before you get to first erotic content (excluding simple nudity). No animations (until very, VERY late into the game, and even then they jitter at the loop seam), due to poor image layout opaque dialogue box is covering important details, and the sex scenes are completely silent (not even a BGM), but the art is really nice.
• VN's pretty linear with no major story branching. Most of the choices are fake and create an illusion of choice. Some of them gatekeep content like cuckolding/sharing/fembussy, while the others let you decide how you treat your prey: with tenderness or with an iron fist.

⠀⠀⠀Already uses AI CGs and reworked assets. Feels a little disconnected from the previous version. Besides some AI images are hastily cropped and are used with wrong angles/rotation in contrast to the composition of background/other assets, and juxtaposition of AI and hand-drawn assets definitely doesn't play in AI's favor. Is it that bad? Sometimes - yes it is, sometimes it's tolerable. Overall, the quality level certainly dropped.
⠀⠀⠀More inconsistencies: MC already sent chantelle a dick pic in a prior season, but now it seems that never happened as she forgot what his penis looked like; Alan is still in town and isn't even hiding, and a couple of other ones, the details of which I forgot ;^)
⠀⠀⠀So far we've had only surface level interactions and basically no content for like half the characters, yet the author introduces even more, which means that he's got no intentions of wrapping this project up any time soon, couple this with the forced remake from the ground up, and .... well make your own conclusions.

Ok, lets address the elephant in the room: did the game need a rework? - hell naw. A lot of the original's issues could be solved without a remake, and not only the remake didn't touch upon most of them, but in some aspects the game became WORSE. Sure there are some improvements, like: better quest log; better UI; qucksaves; autoforward; available events are now marked on the map; finally a glossary with characters; animations from the start; dialogue box can finally be made transparent and some parts of the game were redone and rewritten (mostly for the better). But all of these combined surely didn't prompt a whole rework. AND there is even more AI generated imagery, that does look better than what we've seen in season 5, but it's still worse than the original art. To be fair, the redux is better as a game and a complete product, but, and not to sound pretentious, it lacks soul of the original, if you know what I'm talking about.

Don't really have much to to say here, other than, if you can tolerate a lot of junk - just play the original. Then maybe wait for another 5 years before the dev is finished with the remake.

Pretty good when it come to having a choice about NTR and Traps. you can either steal the girls or be the cuck. i only played "standard/Netori" so i cant say anything about cuck route . Animations are kinda bad , but got smoother in season 5 with the drawback of developer using AI quite abit. However Dev seems to be remaking the early seasons which is totally uneeded, new seasons is the better option.

Awesome Redux, art is amazingly beautiful, loved the animated scenes. Hope it keep getting updated and add some sandbox elements similarly to Love & Sex Second Base, like dating and repeating scenes with each girl. Great work so far.

Taffy Tales review

Played redux for the first time without ever playing the original a few weeks ago.


It was one of the WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN GAMING PERIOD.

And AI was the least of the problems. The game was straight ass the UI was annoying, clunky the fact that everything is SLOW. I.e if you want to click on something for info or to talk to someone, it's insanely slow just to click out of it. And in a dense game like this those wasted clicks can turn to hours of time gone just navigating around the map.

the progression the worst part EXTREMELY SLOW, not even one sex scene with the MC in TEN HOURS. Nearly 50% I played or more before i was just done. That's insane the "slow burn" is bullshit and just turns into a worthless, tedious, mindless grind that I realized is just geared to waste your time.

The dialog/story boring and meaningless. Red is a dumb mechanic that doesn't go anywhere. As with nearly every character of the giant roster which after 10+ hours of fucking padding I can say are all pointless as well. What's the point of 40 characters if no progression exists. What's the point of fooling around with the nurse on like day 3 if your NEVER GOING TO FOLLOW UP?? made me so mad that we started her route and abandoned it before it went anywhere.

No choices, no agency, the entire game is slop.

The ai art is beyond overused. Okay, maybe use it for backgrounds and background characters, but almost every single character, especially in sex scenes, is very lazy, especially if people are paying for it.

Imo ai at the point where it is now should just be used as a helper tool and not something you're gonna build an entire game out of.

The worst part is that it wasn't that I had low expectations. I had high expectations and was completely and utterly disappointed.

Once upon a time this game was pretty good, the art was great, updates were good and even though they took about a year to release and you wanted to see more because the product was good. Even when the developers started developing a completely separate NTR storyline, at least the art was still decent and the overall updates were good. Then they started doing a "Redux" to the game. Really just, not good at all AI art, acceptable in some places but overall bad and jarring.
The updates are to a crawl because the story is being remade, and the artwork replaced with this horrible AI artwork. AI artwork is not inherently a bad thing. If it helps speed up development, at least there's that, but it's about just as slow, and now even slower due to the Redux, and comparing it to the old artwork, it's night and day.
There's no reason to play the most up to date build of this game, it's missing 4/5th of the scenes and while the story is less convoluted, the art just nosedived. This game has seen better days and right now is just not it.

We probably won't see the story continue for another 2 years.

Taffy Tales is one of the best adult games I've played, featuring unique art and a strong story. However, in recent updates, the developer seems to have lost focus, sidelining the main story to add bizarre new content. It's a shame, as finishing the original plot first would have made for a much stronger experience. The game is still in development.

Can I get an older version of this please? This has went downhill after years of waiting the story didn't even progress and the AI art is painfully bad at depicting the dialogues I know some scenes are hot but not everything has to be shiny af why are they soo shiny anyways? Sure some scene with sweat could pass but night time scenes and they're shining? Total downgrade just lazy if you ask me and why'd they changed the story so much and why is there so much useless characters? Who thought about the fatass creep best friend? I liked it more when it was a mysterious quirky town with deep secrets, I mean some arts were improved but mostly everything else from the story to the art and character developments just a total boner killer. Hope they can find their roots and redo it from there instead of this massive randomness comedic/uppity cringe vibe without proper plot to follow *sigh* could've went down as one of the best porn games, they fumbled bad, or maybe it's money thing, guess I'll never know.

It's sad what the dev did to the game, before he had his own art, he talked to people on the forum, he answered how much was missing and what he was doing to advance the game, now he doesn't care about anyone, he just wants to do revamp and revamp, it delays months, you will never see a continuation in the game again

*Before we start, I've played [s1-4+s5]. I've also checked [Redux] for an hour or two and checked its scenes.

Rating 3★
Honestly, can you call this game excellent? Probably not, of course, it's still not a complete game and things might change, but currently it's not that great. Indeed, it's a unique piece, that made quite an impact overall, but it doesn't justify its flaws.

Plot 4★
It's definitely not some kind of mind-blowing story or an extremely well-written one. The cliche about some kind of cult, its schemes, and experiments is not that rare, but it's still quite an enjoyable story so far.

Scenes 3★
We need to make things clear, TT is quite a dark-themed story with its routes and fetishes. Personally, it's a little too "dirty" for my soft heart. We can take Clara's route as an example, it's quite fierce and cruel(especially at the start), yeah later on it seems like we did a good thing, but Red still keeps things dirty, with all the filth and menace he throws at Clara. If the game was less kinetic when it comes to the story-telling I'd probably skip this route, but unfortunately, Clara is pretty much a must-have for our plans, so things have to be done even if I get to choose. All the fetishes with things like sharing, pregnancy, {gay}, scat, etc., might not suit some people, but overall mostly they're enjoyable. If I was however into all of it it'd be a strong 4★ or might even reach 5★

Art [?]★
This is a hard topic, I think original art is great, but there are a few scenes which I didn't like how they've been drawn. I'd probably give it a 4★
But there's a big problem, which is AI. Seasons 1-4 keep the art original, but starting s5 (or Redux for example) it gets heavily indulged in AI-generated images. I'm not gonna discuss people's personal preferences when it comes to AI art, but I'll be honest, I'm someone who let's say "enjoyed" kinds of AI-generated art, so I can tolerate authors starting using AI to speed up the development. But there are a few things that need to be said. First, IMO when it comes to AI-generated art it still needs to be not only revised but also "fixed" with its sometimes broken physique. Do we have it here? Nope, it sometimes feels as if devs decided to use a first-popped generated image and keep it as it is. Second, did it speed up the development?) Nope yet again. Can't call it anything but laziness and can't rate the AI part overall.

Storytelling 2★
It's bad, ofc seen worse, but still...
Yeah in Redux it's better since it's more structured and properly placed through the story, but it's being haphazard isn't the only problem.
There's a lot to say when it comes to MC, first and foremost - he doesn't change. He has Red as the biggest influence factor, his Tiffany(lol) tells him that family actually has a lot of problems, but he still doesn't change. He keeps being an idiot, he has a bunch of girls under him, but still being a Sniper Monkey when it comes to Stacy, Red literally telling him she's not that clean, Janice might've meant Stacy as a rich blonde girl who enjoys toying with her friends, but MC still being head over hills to her.
There's also a thing about not only MC not being able to connect 1 and 2, but sometimes even Red keeps being oblivious to things, take Ryoko for example, girl literally tells MC she's his only true ally and she can even hear Red talking, but after a hot minute they both forgets about it. It might be a storytelling mistake, cuz it's always getting lost in track, take s4-5 transition as an example, at the end of s4 we meet Toy, so what's about in s5? Well, MC forgor... But after dozens of days it pops up, MC also called Maria and forgot about it. At the end of s4 Danny found out about Becca and... that's it. We can talk to him, or he talks with Becca as if nothing happened, but after some quests MC remembers about it.
So storytelling is really sloppy :c

Writing 3★
A lot of mistakes.
During s5 I even started suspecting the text being written by AI.
There's also a thing about Mary and Tiffany. We all know that's a way to play around with incest censor. If you want you can call them Mom and Sis, and when they are referred to as: "it's his _", things will start to make sense. But I don't like seeing M&T being referred to as names we typed, cuz it's dumb that everyone is calling them Mom or Sis, use their damn names regardless of what was typed in. I've always played with them being called M&T and it feels good until it's being used in quotes like: it's your [Mary]...

*Almost everything was based on the original game, not Redux.

!So to summarize, I think 3★ is a worthy rating, will it change in the future? Nobody knows. Will this game ever be completed? Nobody knows. Will they change the art or keep AI till the end? Nobody knows. Will they develop the original game separately from Redux, because of the difference in story? Nobody knows.
I'd suggest playing the original s1-4+5 right now, and then coming back in another year or two to check if there'll be any major changes. Maybe devs will only focus on properly developing the Redux, which actually won't be a bad idea, but I personally would be majorly disappointed.

About different versions:
If you want a better game experience and you can deal with All-in AI art then play the Redux. There's very little of the story, but instead, they added some new content that doesn't exist in the original.
*There's currently only 1 season of Redux, and if I've understood correctly, there should be 3 of them. So I can't imagine how long you'll have to wait to not only catch up with the story and routes but also finish the game as a whole.

If you want to see a whole story so far, check out all the scenes and enjoy the original art then play S1-4&S5. It's not polished by any means so be ready to get confused and sometimes get stuck.

This game used to be amazing, left it alone to let I update and I come back to a crap revamp with ai slop everywhere, truly disappointing could've been amazing but now, it's not worth anyones time, a game that once could've been called a work of art is now nothing but ai trash

Very good one here. Not perfect, with weak animations and some other stuff... like Not Done Content, but... it is Better then I expected. A lot better. Just cut some edges. Many chracters is almost always good. 2D art style is for people that love it, not 3D (me included).
It is a good 18+ game with nice, sometimes funny story and gameplay. Tho it steel in need of full story. Ty for the seasoning thing btw. Just... well, give it a try.

The creator just reworks and reworks, barley adding any content to the updates. There is "ntr" now but there is barley any content for that line. It would be better if the creator just stuck to the original premises.

Great game, but a milking project, stay away from this almost seems like the developer is just not giving updates. Ut instead stretching it. Remakes a game that No one really asked for. Nonetheless it does have some up and downs in terms of gameplay

It's an AI fest. Unnatural, off-putting. Sure, the game wasn't like this before but it is what these "remakes" are. And it will continue to be so. Like bro, AI wont save you time. Unless the developer is afraid of sharing the profit with the artists. This game is going nowhere, unfortunately!
