Boy...generally speaking when a new update come out, the saves get corrupted?, I ask because I want to know if I can play safely now and don't lose my progress later.

I'd say play until the end of the current update you have right now, when a new one releases it usually has a save that's caught up to the current release you can start from.

There's usually a cheat code that jumps you to the new update.

Can't help with the save, but they've used codes in the past so there will probably be a code next week that will jump you in the new content.
