White knight, Show me the promise Uber made then I might back you up,
I don't know anythng about Uber or his practices.
(and I don't particularly care, I haven't spent any money, so I've got way more than my moneys worth)

I'm arguing against entitled assholes who think the saying is "Do Look a gift horse in the mouth (Then whine about it)"
So far I've seen no promises, just a bunch of randoms making guesses then bitching when they aren't fulfilled.

---
As for people who have given money, that is a different matter, I don't know enough about what happens behind the Patreon wall to comment on that.

The devs haven’t met their own deadlines and the devs don’t even keep their own writer informed half the time, let alone their patreons. Is that clear enough for you?
That's more like it, definitely more to respond too.
  1. "The devs haven’t met their own deadlines"
What deadlines are you referring too? the complaints I've been commenting on are all based on estimates put forward by randoms or people taking LostRavens words out of context.

  2. "devs don’t even keep their own writer informed half the time",
Does your boss or colleagues keep you informed of everything they are up too? I agree in that I think more transparency = good practice in this kind of environment,
but not sure how this equates to a " garbage practices " that needs to be called out like it's some sort of scam, at worst it's just poor management, most likely Uber simply sees it as not wasting time telling his writer something he doesn't need to know, and there is a good chance he doesn't know himself, the work is done when the work is done.

  3. "let alone their patreons."
I agree that Devs should do their best to communicate with their patrons, it's just a good all round business practice IMO, It's the foundation of any good relationship.
And it's also something I can't reasonably comment on because I have no experience of what kind of communication Uber has in place or how reasonable the expectations of you and the other unsatisfied patrons were.
(for the most part you (collectively) are really very bad at putting forward any coherent arguments for your cases, this revised post you just made is one of the more reasonable I've seen lately and it still fails to fill the blanks.)

All I can say is the expectations of the randoms on this site are unreasonable when they whine about not being kept in the loop for something they aren't paying for.

Don't presume everyone is a freeloader, brah.

Im an Epic Pie ($10 tier) and while not particularly pissed, I completely understand the mad crowd (mostly due to Uber promises - had he been quiet, no one would be pissed).

If you’re posting that much text to argue about something you’re taking this way too serious nobody cares that much. Also my memory isn’t crazy good but there was definitely mention of the goal being releasing the update last month which had us thinking it would release first two weeks in March but in less than a week April will be here and we’re not any more sure it will release now then we were then it doesn’t matter to me much but this thread is to discusss Taffy tales and since there isn’t much to go off the only thing we can do is talk (whine) about the release date and usher along the occasional “Where’s the ruler!?” Guy. I’d assume there’s dozens if not hundreds of lurkers who patiently wait for the update just because a couple guys talk about it doesn’t mean the majority are filthy complainers just means a couple guys are whining who cares it’s annoying sure but what’re you gonna do whine back? Feels like this threads getting negative for no reason.

What I am wondering was there an actual "promise"? or was it an estimation of "completion"? . I don't have access to the posts on Patreon but I would think it would be unwise to "promise" anything in this line of work. The issue I see is that every update cycle the same thing happens when the update is "perceived" to be late. People say the same things every time , scam, milk, bad practices and mismanagement. There are some in the thread that just get tired of it. I totally get people have a right to complain but frankly you all should be used to it by now. The updates are almost always later than people expected. So what is the purpose of stating displeasure almost every time people should be used to it by now. imo. A mature person would have either just excepted this is the way it is or have moved on to other games. (APoc1 waits for incoming hate  )

All I gotta say is - this guy had it called correctly back in November:
v0.68.2a came out in September
v0.47.5a came out around March
v0.22.0a was about August 2020
v0.17.0a was around April 2020
v0.14.3a November 2019

Based upon this information, I would expect no earlier than March/April 2022. But we could be surprised. But then again, not.
It's the post I built my own history tracker from:

Who is presuming anything. maybe read the conversation you're jumping in on.
this conversation started at #19,839 , feel free to quote my presumption. everything I've posted after that was either a question or postulation in reply to ohers.

Those who have sincere complaints about the Devs practices, I'd expect to take up with the Dev in question or Patreon directly, and failing that if they really felt the need to vent here, they could post something that actually sheds light on their experiences, something with specifics that demonstrate they aren't just half-witts bitching about imagined promises

The bottom line is if you act like a troll, you deserve to be treated like a troll.

You're either the dev in disguise or you outright refuse to use your reading comprehension skills.

...

We really appreciate the patience our fans are showing, we know you're eager for some kind of a deadline for the next release, and we can now confirm an APPROXIMATE release date of sometime late Febuary.

...
If that isn't explicit enough, not even taking into account all the other times this has happened before I don't know what else to say.

You do know what approximate means right? That is not a hard date there is a lot of gray area in the word approximate. Either way who cares? the update will come when it comes.

I have worked in project management - "approximate" is not a promise, not a commitment, not a deadline. A date is a deadline. Even better if there is a time attached.

Also, as is stated in the discord faq for the devteam:
3) 'When's the next update out?'
The next update will be out once it's ready. We take pride in having our word matter, so we won't fully commit to a release date unless we're confident we can make it!

"approximate" is never considered a commitment, it's exactly what it is - an approximation.

"Once again, we are sorry for this delay, the update will be ready as soon as possible, and you can still expect it in early March.

Thank you for your understanding and support."

The main issue is the "early March" comment.

Folks were expecting (after a delay) It in first two weeks or so.

I understand your perspective on those words and that "early March" - but it was prefaced with "as soon as possible" and still did not give a date. It is still an estimate and not a definitive answer. A date - i.e. April 8, 2022 (as an example) is a definitive answer and can be used to hold someone accountable. Anything else is a guess, a hope, an estimate, a wish.

Estimates should be followed (specially after failing to meet the first one).

Im not really mad ir anything, just think Uber could keep us informed about what still needs doing.
