Hey everyone!

So progress is getting closer to completion now for my first Renpy game and thus I thought I'd share what I am working on here . The game uses Renpy and renders are done in Daz3D with G8 characters all rendered in iray.

Game overview and plot summary;
The main inspiration for the game is Good Girl Gone Bad where the player has multiple branching paths that have different h-scenes and game endings. I'm planning to have it where once player finishes the intro they can explore the city using the city map and kind of have an open-world experience with some elements of plot oriented branches as well woven in between.

My goal is for the player to be open to explore as much content as possible without feeling as if the game is forcing them to replay the game to see all content. The replayability will instead come from the branching nature of the content. Namely that depending on prior choices future events are different as well as your overall stats influencing other events or locking/unlock specific events and branches.

In terms of plot, the player controls only one protagonist (no multiple protagonists or perspective shifts or anything like that). The character can be named by the player themselves with the default name being Chloe as that is my online nickname and my IRL name (I suck at coming up with nicknames). The game starts when Chloe just turned 18 and is living with her mom and stepdad. She is in her last year of high school and so there will be school events as well. But main plot of the game is just to guide Chloe through this coming of age type story, where Chloe is discovering her sexuality. Even though most of her friends are already sexually active before they were 18, for Chloe it was different as her mom was overly protective of her.


Gameplay and supporting cast;
As mentioned before the game focuses just on one character as the protagonist that the player controls so everything is witnessed from her perspective and the renders also play around with this where you see stuff from her POV (yes POV sex scenes as well for those into that!)

But you will also get to see other player's thoughts this is more for story perspective than anything else and also to give players tips for choice impacts and as, what I think anyway, is a neat detail where you get to see the impact of your choices on the way other character's are thinking. Chloe herself is not aware of their thoughts but the player is

vs (Henry - Chloe's stepdad here has different thoughts depending on a prior choice, you only see above or below thoughts depending on the player's choice and as you'll notice as well the actual render is different too. Different choices will also give different renders)

In terms of supporting characters, you have Henry (Chloe's stepdad) who depending on your choices starts to lust after Chloe and try to corrupt her or alternatively will be pushed towards Cassandra (Chloe's mom) and the player will instead get to have voyeur scenes involving them. I've not yet decided though if I'll cross the line of having a threesome possibility with the mom and stepdad but for the moment planned content is just between the player and Henry or the player watching Henry and Cassandra have sex

Beyond this I've also planned already pathways where you have job opportunities and thus have encounters with various people through that, some of them out to corrupt Chloe, some more innocent friendships, some that Chloe can set out to corrupt. As well as school situations with teachers, fellow students, and of course the possibility to build relationships where again due to choices the player sees the relationship evolve in different ways. Be materialistic, be just about sex, or about true love.

And in addition to all this the player's choices will have an impact on Chloe's appearance, I want to have routes where the player can get Chloe fit and her body thus changes to be more muscle build. While other routes will see her become even more innocent and thus her clothing and hairstyles will change to match and the opposite of course being true as well with slut routes, corruption routes and simply more liberal routes. I won't go overboard initially adding routes though as I don't want to overwhelm myself with a scope that is not achievable but in long term I think I can reach that if I consistently focus on content writing and rendering each month.


Planned h-content categories;
  • Virginity and virginity loss;
    • Each of Chloe's body part has its own virginity attribute and this will impact the renders for those scenes there will also be specific routes you can only encounter with virginity intact, but for the most part all scenes can be seen as virgin or non-virgin but it will have a unique render each. So if you are not a virgin you will see one render if you are a virgin you will see another
  • POV sex;
    • Each sex scene where possible will have POV stuff mixed in with the third person perspective so you will get to see the same render from Chloe's perspective and from third person perspective
    • For the moment I have no plans to have this as a toggle option, mostly because I lack the Renpy programming skills to do this
  • Corruption;
    • This is perhaps the largest theme but unlike other corruption games I want the pure (what I'm calling innocent route) to have sex scenes as well. Innocence for me does not equal being a virgin for the entire game but for example you can stay innocent by not having sex on first date with someone and only after you build love with them you can take it to next level or even wait until marriage, with that possibly being one of the many planned endings for the game
  • Pregnancy;
    • I'm going to keep this one in my back pocket and focus on the main content initially but I've already built in the framework for pregnancy related content where unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy and then depending on the person who got you pregnant and your other stats with them it will give a different ending

Pregnancy framework inplace;
Basically by a certain point in the game a check will run and if any character has a certain pregnancy value with Chloe (as in they've cum inside you a specific amount of times) then Chloe will be pregnant with that person's baby and you get the ending route then where other stat checks will determine what ending variation of that character you get

The ending stats aren't implemented yet as this is v0.01 of the game and the ending for me is still a long way off, but I already do have it worked out at least storywise how I want it to flow towards the endings and what the ending variations will hold

  • Rape and non-con stuff;
    • Not yet decided on this as I want to be cautious with Patreon's rules but there may be some light dubious consent stuff and sleep sex for example but I'm not planning any brutal rape or such at least not for the moment
  • Incest;
    • Well here it depends how you view incest, does stepdad/stepbrother and such count as incest to you? Those will be in the game, but as mentioned before I may do a threesome with incest or borderline incest stuff as one of the routes. It is all up to the player's choices though if they see it so all content will be 100% avoidable
  • Futa;
    • I have a bit of a futa fantasy myself, one so bad that I would love to experience it IRL so yes... expect futa in this game. The futa you can expect will be similar to how it was handled in Good Girl Gone bad only in my case I may have 2 or 3 different futa characters in the game again all will be avoidable so for people who don't like futa-on-female stuff you can completely avoid those routes
  • Traps/trans;
    • This is also more for a much later build of the game but I do have planned 1 trap character who Chloe can then become a lover or if corrupt Chloe she will corrupt the trap and have threesome (or more) with the trap and random strangers. Obviously gay content here but yet again avoidable and something that won't be in the game for a while (sadly)
    • I also want to have 2 trans characters in the game but I'm going to leave that for one of the last content to be added as in contrast to futa which is a complete fantasy, trans is a delicate subject and I don't want to fetishise it or be offensive to any trans people here on F95 so when those do get added I may keep them as an innocent route exclusive where it is about dating and getting to know them rather than entering into group sex with them and all that stuff that you can do with other characters in the game
      • On a related note for the moment I'm not planning any trans content for Chloe herself it will just be 2 different trans characters Chloe will have option to date if the player makes that choice
  • Voyeur;
    • As already shown on one of the preview images above, voyeur will be featured in the game where Chloe can then eventually masturbate or seek out voyeur events with stepdad and mom as well as with other characters that will come to the game in the coming updates
  • Exhibitionism;
    • One of Chloe's school friends is an exhibitionist and will try to corrupt Chloe and get her to join in on her activities with different outcomes based on player choices
  • Anal;
    • I've mentioned before how every part of Chloe's body has its own virginity status, I'll post the draft stat page below to show what I mean, but for anal sex as well your first time will be different render from the same interaction but if you are not an anal virgin there will also be a visual difference to the body to reflect this as well
    • But anal will be an option the player can usually choose unless due to previous choices you simply end up in anal sex, it will be a good option to avoid pregnancy or to keep your virginity for those virgin routes or of course if you want Chloe to become a buttslut that is possible as well!
  • Pubic hair;
    • So early on in the game the player will get the choice to shave Chloe's pubic hair or not and this again will then in future be reflected in h-scenes if you are shaved or not, some characters may not want to have sex with Chloe if she isn't shaved while others might not if she is
    • I am going to limit though how much content I gate like this and instead just have different renders for pubic hair on or off
    • Eventually I am going to poll my player base and see if they even want pubic hair in the game at all and I'll rework the h-scene at the start of the game relating to shaving so you just start outright without pubic hair
So below is Chloe with pubic hair as she will appear in that scene in the actual game;

and then here is the same render but without pubic hair, as I'm an airhead and forgot to add pubic hair when I was doing these renders (did 5 renders but when I went in-game to review it all looked right I had an "oh shit" moment when I realised the character is about to decide if they want to shave or not - back to daz to redo these 5 renders --- great job Chloe (me, not the game character lol!)

I also messed around a bit with the pubic hair style until I settled on one I liked. The one below is one such rejected style that in Daz3D even on the iray preview mode looked fine but when I rendered it fully it just didn't look right in contrast to the rest of her skin

This is the placeholder stats screen, it has some issues at the moment but the stat screen I want to implement is beyond my Renpy skills so until I can afford to hire someone to code for me the stat screen I want in the game I'm going to use below placeholder. It is handy here just to show you how every sexual body part tracks the first time and this again will have an impact on the render. Your first will have a different render than if you've already kissed before and same for oral, vaginal or anal intercourse

The issue with it at the moment is when your virginity has been claimed by someone the text throws everything out of alignment and the stat screen becomes unreadable, for v0.1 I'm going to leave it in as is but for v0.3 I'm planning to fix this (v0.2 I just want to focus on content) with a temporary fix just to get this placeholder stat screen working. Eventually this entire screen will be replaced by a visual stat screen similar to how many Japanese RPGM games do it. The Last Barbarian also has a nice visual stat screen as well.

About me & development timeline;
So as I've mentioned before my IRL name is Chloe, I live in UK but have a multicultural background from my parents and I've traveled quite a lot as a kid because of what my parents did for work. I've lived some years in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, USA and UK (where I still live today). So I've never quite felt like I've fit in anywhere and I've often gotten bullied for being different from everyone else and had troubles making friends.

This leads into this Renpy, I've long wanted to make a Renpy game after playing so many great ones here on F95 (and some really bad ones) but I lack any and all programming, 3D art, 2D art and photoshop skills. Literally 0 skills in all of that.

So I started learning Blender initially last year thinking I would do my renders in that but it was harder than I anticipated and I had yet to learn Renpy either. So at the start of this year I started first learning Renpy and writing out the first build of the game which now sits at 850 lines of code and 50,533 characters.

Once I reached a point I felt - hey this is finally starting to shape up to be the proper beginnings of an adult game, I then moved on to Daz3D to start learning how to use it to make renders and over the past 4 months all I've been doing is working on renders. Part of the time learning, getting help on Daz and F95 forums and part of that time acquiring assets, setting up scenes, fixing scenes as I made mistakes (one mistake is visible here in the previews - can you spot it?). A lot of time was also wasted as initially I was rendering on my own PC so I would setup a scene and then render it and wait the hour+ it would take to finish and then check it for issues, fix issues and render it again. Obviously later I realised I could just do a quick draft render let it run for like 50 iterations and check it for issues rather than waiting a whole hour with my PC being unusable for anything else during that time.

And then eventually I learnt how to setup an iray server which now means I can at least have the iray server (which I've setup on my laptop) do the rendering while I continue work on the next scene. That was a massive time saver and also meant my PC was now free rather than stuck rendering for an hour!

There was also a lot of outdated info for both Daz3D and Renpy to get through that can cause a lot of confusion as well for a noob like me, luckily the users on the Daz forums and the ones here on F95 are extremely helpful and I can't thank you all enough for your continued and extremely kind support!!!
anne O'nymous in particular (I won't tag you here but if you see this thread, thank you so so much for how much help you openly and freely give on these forums!)

In any case, the first build (v0.1) which so far has over 100 renders (not counting h-scene renders as those I am still working on) should be released on F95 by the end of this month
In-game you will also get 1 preview image at the end of the content for each route of what is coming in the next version of the game

Preview build;
So due to development now being onhold until February 2023 due to the housing issues (I have to move as landlord selling property) I have decided to preview what I have so far.

This is an UNFINISHED build so not everything has renders yet and issues to be expected. I'm going to do a spell/grammar check and thorough bug test only once I've finished all the renders for v0.1 in late March 2023 likely

Прочитал всё. Продумано, интересно, видно что старание есть над созданием этой игры. Ну к тому же это ещё и красиво выглядит. Очень хорошо что при такой игре есть разные варианты прохождения. Обычно есть только накопление каких то параметров для открытия только одного прохождения. Обязательно посмотрю эту игру когда она будет. Насчёт рендеров в неоновом, они красивые и хорошо сделанные, хоть они и не для игры можно всё таки потом добавить в неё, в качестве сна или фантазии.

I read everything. It is thought out, interesting, it is clear that there is effort on the creation of this game. Well, it also looks pretty. It is very good that with such a game there are different options for passing. Usually there is only an accumulation of some parameters to open only one passage. I will definitely watch this game when it comes out. As for the renders in neon, they are beautiful and well done, although they are not for the game, you can still add them to it later, as a dream or fantasy.

Seeing as the game is built around corruption, that alley seems like a decent segue into drugs. Depending on where you want to go with it, it could be pretty easily written into something along the lines of making her dependent/addicted on/to said drugs, and thus being controlled by whoever's corrupting her/taking advantage of her.

You could unravel that even further and take it into pornography/prostitution/trafficking as payment for her addiction(s), or even darker than that. It really just depends on where you want to go with that part of the story, I guess.

(Though the shower in one of the scenes looks very familiar haha!)

So already behind schedule... Maybe this is why so many games get late updates and abandoned - it must surely be a curse for anyone who tries making adult games something IRL comes up and is like NOPE. But don't worry this game will not get abandoned I finish anything I set my mind to. Always have, always will.

In my case I've had some IRL bad news that has taken crucial time away from development on this game. My landlord is selling the property and I have to move out in a few months but I am also between jobs due to COVID related downsizing at the company I used to work and where I live you can't rent a new place without proof of income (currently living off of savings)

So this means I've had to take some time away from development to work firstly getting a new job ASAP and secondly getting ready to move

But whenever I find time I still continue to work on the game

Since above previews had no sex scenes yet, here is one I've been working on where Chloe accidentally walks in on her stepdad and mom having anal sex. Yes the stepdad seems to have a bit of a fetish for butts and anal doesn't he? Something the player will need to watch out for....

You aren't that far off! After morning breakfast, Chloe goes to take shower while Henry helps Cassandra in the kitchen. Henry finishes and comes upstairs but sees the door is slightly open and when he goes to close it he sees Chloe nude.

Because of a previous choice the player made instead of lusting over Chloe this arouses Henry and he goes back downstairs to release his arousal using Cassandra instead. When Chloe finishes her shower she hears a noise downstairs and walks in on Henry abusing her mom's ass

Glad you like the render!

1.2. there is no light from the lamp in the front
1.3 There is no light from the hanging garland
1.4 Neon signs can be placed on the wall of a building to create a better blending with enviroment. This can be done, for example, by installing an addon that allows you to make the letters. Or you can make text a light source in the Surfaces tab. As an example, you can see how the e-clock in the house is made. Such a solution, by the way, will give natural lighting that will fit organically into enviroment.
2. MC.
2.1 It seems to me that it would be logical to match her skin color with that of her mother, so that there would be more resemblance between the two. Currently, the daughter is perceived more as a separate person, rather than part of the family.
2.2 I think that the MC's breasts are too pressed into her body.
3. Step-dad.
Be careful with this kind of content. As I understand it, when that word appears during sex, Patreon considers it incest.

Thanks for the feedback, please bear in mind that's just the picture for more coming soon. It is not a story scene render, the character in this case is in fact floating over the street to get the perspective I wanted with the neon letters

The neon letters are actually a light source which if I turn off the other lights in the scene you will be able to see, but the spots I've put on the scene in essence flush out the shadow/light casting the neon lights are making

The lack of light on garland really bothered me as well, I was hoping no one would notice hahaha! It is part of the architecture pack for the alleyway but sadly isn't setup to cast light. I did think about adding light to each one individually but then I realised it would have hurt the render time substantially and taken a lot of time to do while not adding much value

The neon sign is actually made of individual floating letters set in 3D space, as again this was the more coming soon screen and kind of meant to be a fantasy setting not a story setting. So I wanted the letters to appear floating in the 3D space rather than against the wall. Kind of like the Zombieland title sequence if you are familiar with it?

In regards to MC, it's funny you mention that as when I was finishing the render above where she finds her mom and stepdad having sex I realised her skin colour is a bit different. But we don't see her dad (I might do in flashbacks at some future point in story) so I was hoping that by not seeing the dad the player for now would presume her skin colour is thus a blend of her mom and dad

In terms of the stepdad issue, I think this should be fine though as I've seen a lot of other games that do incest stories but instead of brother they write the story to be stepdad and instead of sister, stepsister etc...

Anyway I may actually have incest in the game I've not decided yet on that yet, making money is not my main motivation so I'm not too fussed if Patreon gets rid of me but should that happen I also should still have options, perhaps a Patreon version and a Subscribestar version I have seen other games do this

But patreon is really ridiculous to be honest as I've played games on here that have hardcore drugs, incest, rape, loli, etc... content and these are allowed to continue on Patreon meanwhile other games with very vanilla incest get banned from Patreon. There doesn't seem to be any consistent standard. I'm fine with rules if they are consistently enforced but if some people get special treatment and others don't this always rubs me the wrong way. Anyway I expect this may become an issue at some point as my game might have rape at some point as well as one of the possible pathways and Patreon also doesn't allow that (even though hundreds of games on Patreon have it.... ugh....)

In terms of lighting though, so ignoring the fantasy renders with the neon sign in the alleyway how is the lighting on the other preview images? I found lighting is the hardest thing to achieve in Daz3D so far and have experimented substantially with it with each new render so curious to see any thoughts on the lighting in the actual game scenes (so not in the neon light one)?

Bathroom: Try adding more illumination. For example, you could add a plane with emissivity and cutout opacity = 0.0000001. And use post-processing in Photoshop. Here are my examples (I have the same environment as you are)

You've quickly managed to put together a scene that looks quite a bit better than my own lol

As for photoshop yeah that's a whole other bag of knowledge I don't quite want to dig starting to learn yet. Still got a lot more to learn with Daz3D so been avoiding doing any post work and have so far done all renders just from Daz3D and will learn photoshop at a later stage when I am more confident in Daz and have enough time to also add post work to the workload

What probably takes you a few minutes in Daz takes me a whole day and same would be true for photoshop haha! :LOL:

I'm a complete beginner still on Daz Studio, how would I do this?
It's very simple. You need to find the "Create" tab in the menu, and then find the "Primitive" button. It adds a geometric object to your scene. After that, you have to select the created primitive and go to the "Geometry" tab, where the cutout opacity is located. After that, just click on "1.0" and enter a new value. Depending on the version of Daz, the new value will have a different number of zeros after the decimal point. You just need to check the visibility of the object during rendering.

Here are the full shower scenes I made so far (one has a texture issue I've given up trying to fix for now);
1. Try adding 2 to 3 planes with lighting enabled in the "EMISSION" tab and cutout opacity = 0.0000001.
2. Try to add more emission to the ceiling lamps.
3. If you have a good video card, you can add blum and ray tracing.
4. I think it would be better to remove the clothes from the scene and focus the camera on the girl. I don't think the clothes make much difference to the meaning of the scene. And if you take them off, you can save rendering and simulation time.

Thanks for those tips I'll have to mess around in Daz and see how that all works.

How do I enable bloom and raytracing in Daz?

I'm actually using a server I pay 50 GBP per month for to do the actual renders while my own PC is an i9 + RTX 2080 but I didn't want to kill it by rendering so much not to mention the electricity costs, I figured overall I'd save money and time doing it on a server. I just use iRay Server to send the renders from Daz to the server it uploads render snapshots and queues up the renders and once I'm done for the day I have them all render while I do other stuff on my PC

If I need a quick render test I just render locally and let it run for about 10-50 cycles to see if there are any issues, though in general I've gotten better at just using the built in preview mode of Daz to see how it all looks

Just as an FYI as mentioned before with the stuff going on I haven't had much time to continue work on the project so I probably won't be able to try your tips until February after I've moved and can get back to working on my game

Hey everyone!

So progress is getting closer to completion now for my first Renpy game and thus I thought I'd share what I am working on here . The game uses Renpy and renders are done in Daz3D with G8 characters all rendered in iray.

I don't usually venture down this far in the forum list, but I saw this post today and I think you are off to a nice start. I look forward to seeing your initial release when it comes out.

Other people better are programming and using Daz are offering you some good advice, so try it out and develop your own style. The only thing I can think to mention is that I noticed in some of your sample screens you do a lot of narration, describing the scene. Renpy is a visual medium really, so you really shouldn't need to describe what is happening on a screen were we can see it. Instead, I think you should focus more on the actor's thoughts and dialogues... stuff we can't tell when we see a rendered scene. A picture is worth a thousand words and all that... lol.

For example, in that sample where Henry is grabbing Chloe's ass, you have that bit "Emboldened by your lack of reaction, Henry continues to grope your body as you move towards the kitchen."

That is what I expect to read in a novel. In a visual novel, I can see he's groping her, What i can't see is what she is thinking while this is going on, or what Henry's thoughts are. So instead, something I might do would be to make this a 2 or 3 render sequence. First render would be Henry looking at her ass and thinking to himself that he want's to touch it. Second render he does, and we see what Chloe thinks in her "in thought dialogue". Just those two renders would convey things much more than a descriptive narrative. And using renpy's dissolve transition between scenes, it would look almost animated when his made moves slightly to grab her ass.

As for the step-cest thing, just an FYI that Patreon considers that the same as the real thing. It's actually how a lot of countries view it is well. Not so much a blood thing but a context thing... like if a stepdad raised you from 6 years old for 10 years years, there's really no difference between that and if your blood dad did it.

If you want to use patreon for support, I'd suggest keeping any reference or mention of the step-dad thing off your page. Sure, there's lots of games out there doing some really hard core stuff and they manage to avoid the Patreon safety & trust dept, but all it takes is a single ticked off patron dropping a dime and you could lose the page and any funds unclaimed.

It's much safer to keep references off your Patreon page, do not post any NSFW to the page and keep it out of the title of the game. Maybe even have a code to change the relationship or make it customizable. You don't have to use the lame Landlord-Tenant thing necessarily, but just do something to make it not default or apparent.

Of course, you can always just use subscribstar or itch but Patreon does have some advantages. In my case, I decided to just have my Patreon page as an ad for 'ME' and my company, making adult oriented VN's. I'll mention project status, but basically, none of the actual content from my games will be on Patron page, unless it's SFW, even thought I have my page as registered for NSFW content. Instead, I direct my patrons to my private website and forum and even Discord (Although you have to be careful there as well)

Anyhow, good luck!

That's quite a clever solution and in theory should work well. I might want to make an alternative version just to put up on Patreon like for v0.1 so that when Patreon get any reports they review that version and don't find anything offensive and will just see SFW updates on the page

How do you announce new game versions though? If you post references to a new version won't that still make issues with Patreon if you get any reports against you? Like will they then go to your website to check your content and be like oh no that's against the rules and ban your Patreon page?

I've never had to deal with them (I only have my prologue out currently and there's really nothing on there yet that would violate their ToS) but I did a lot of reading up on it and I see some discussions in the Developers forum. Back in 2019, when they really changed things, they were being pretty strict. Now it seems like it's more of a complaint driven review system only.

I don't think their S&T team goes into private websites and downloads your stuff, but if you have game links on your Patreon page (or your Discord server, if it's integrated), then you probably should keep any step'cest stuff either behind a relationship script or a patch. Or make two versions like you mentioned.

Personally, I don't want clunky dialogue that comes from people defining relationships, so I am going to have a "Fan that is not affiliated with Turning Tricks Games, in any way shape or form" make their own patch for my first release, when I get it out. The patch will not be available from me or on my patreon page, but the "Fan" will have links for it on my private forum. And I am sure the patch will be posted here, after all.

How can I be responsible for mods and fan-made content? A lot of big name devs have i-patches on Lewdpatcher, or they send them in private messages to their patrons. All Patreon really cares about is that it's not linked to directly from their pages, because they want to keep Mastercard and Visa happy.
