I've always been a big fan of tentacles and monsters, and tentacles thrive was my favorite game concept. But instead of turning it into a super hot game where Lilith gets fucked by different types of monsters, the dev turned it into a pokemon rip off.

I mean who wanna battle with monsters while they rock hard stroking to Lilith getting her internal organs rearranged by monsters?

I love tentacles!

I've never really seen a good game with tentacles though. They're like a generic monster sometimes with the occasional battle fuck art or you died art, but that's pretty much it. I guess it would be tough to make a game much better. Tentacles are kinda just there. Being all tentacle-y.

Tentacles only exist because Japan blurs penises and animators found a way to get around that restriction. Tentacles are surrogate cocks, nothing more. Unfortunately it started a whole thing and to this day it annoys me because 99.9% (yes, hyperbolic number) of tentacle porn is just "brutal rape porn"...not my thing.

In the game I mentioned above it's not rape but Lilith herself allows them to breed her

While tentacles being used to circumvent the censorship law of Japan is true, Japan's love affair with erotic works featuring tentacles existed since a long time ago.

I don't know much about Japanese art, but my first assumption is that using this image to say that tentacle porn was common in Japan is a lot like using Da Vinci's Vitruvian man to say that Italians liked cock art.

The cock is not the main focus of the Vitruvian man. It's about the form and proportion of an ideal male body. Tentacle erotica is, however, about a tentacled creature engaging sexually with a female subject. Honestly, your comparison is so out of place. Vitruvian man is not an erotic work of art in the first place.

That was kind of my point though. I could have gone with Picasso and vertically stacked eyes as another cultural example that is not an example of a cultural trend, just popular art, or in the Vitruvian man's case, a well known image. The use of tentacles in hentai is 100% "cock replacement" to avoid blur. There's examples of tentacle porn in most cultures, Japan may have the edge though, which is something that may be interesting to explore from a more macro lens. The fact that those late 1700 early 1800 works exist just gave them an easy transition to the idea.

Hell, even the early 80s movie Possession hit it up as well. (French production I think)

Edit: Rephrasing a bit. It started as 100% cock replacement, but eventually grew to it's own subgenre after established.

Nobody is arguing against tentacles being used as dick replacement due to Japan's censorship law. Tentacle erotica has existed before hentai creators started creating tentacle scenes is what I'm pointing at. Hence, that painting from 1800's as an example.
