This game is ambitious and fascinating, but largely fails due to antiquated design choices that make gameplay a slog. For as interesting as the story and world provided are, 90% of the gameplay loop is as follows:
>Visit area, Nothing new
>Return to center of town
>Visit second area, Nothing new
>Return to center of town
>Visit third area, Nothing new
>Visit sub area within third area
>Find 1 new thing
>Return to area three
>Return to Center of town
>Go to Inn
>Go to sleep
Congratulations, you've now seen the entire gameplay loop. Multiply this by 10 and you've officially experienced the game. It's slow, it's tedious, and it is largely unrewarding for how much time you spend reading the same flavor text over and over again.
I sincerely wish this game were better, but it feels like a Point and click game on the NES. Everything is clunky, there are no quality of life features to expedite anything at all, and everything takes so much longer than it should. This game is hardly worth it for the story due to this god awful pacing. That's not even to mention stats, which have so little impact that they may as well not exist. You will spend hours never having need of any of them unless you follow a walkthrough to speed through the tedium. At that point, just watch someone play it without commentary. Though...that would probably be hard because of all the...porn and stuff. But I digress.
Great concept, horrendous execution.
