RPGM - Completed - The Curse of Pleasure [v1.0] [RanneRo]

The game started off wonderfully; the art was fantastic, the story captivating, a true gem, definitely a 5/5. But it began to have catastrophic flaws, such as the introduction of completely irrelevant characters or those who appeared out of nowhere. Examples of characters who could have been part of the story: the blond boy's father, the old shopkeeper in town, the annoying guy whose breasts were groped for pleasure, the mafia boss himself... they could have created a route where he followed that path or where that fate could be avoided. And so many other characters. I thought that using AI would make it faster and avoid problems in following a coherent story, and that the animations could be improved... but it was all lies from the creator. Honestly, it's not worth playing or paying any attention to. Its model (Yukki) is admirable, but don't bother with the story, because neither the ending, nor the mechanics, nor anything else is worthwhile. As I said at the beginning, it might hook you, but it's a complete waste of time.

The game has somewhat decent art but unfortunately the rest of the game that that is attached to verges on obnoxious. The storyline is fairly uninteresting, the combat is serviceable and then the rest of the gameplay is fairly insipid.

Stereotypical scene where you work in a tavern? Sure, but you have to serve a dozen different customers and walk back and forth across an unreasonably large map tile to serve food to each one of them individually. Hide and seek where you just need to interact with an NPC running around? Hope you like them running at twice the speed you can and then, once you catch one of them, you need to catch them another two times. And then repeat again for every other NPC you need to catch in that section. Honestly, I'd say I was cherry-picking, but I looked back through the gallery to review and these are literally examples that the game makes you do to go through those "scene replays". As a result, I couldn't even recommend it to someone to watch through the gallery.

The only part of the game that feels like it stands out a bit is the art but, again, on review of the gallery, the first 20 or so scenes seem to just reuse the exact same cut-outs again and again and it does not really improve a great deal from there. I can't even recommend it to someone who enjoys text-base games because of all of the bad gameplay that it's attached to.

It's a really weird/poor showing as if it had been a more concise project that had focussed a bit more on providing some interesting/enjoyable gameplay it might have been a good game, but as it stands I don't think I can recommend it at all.

Very disappointing game. This is an extremely slow-burn game and I actually love slow burn games, as the slow-burn part often make those stories more realistic, character more fleshed out, automatically putting them above average vns'.
But this one is opposite. The slow-burn part here simply buried the realism of the plot.

Realistic slow corruption is where characters hesitate to do defiant acts influenced by others. But in here, the others are the one's who are hesitant to go too far.

To put it more clearly, yes, our protagonist will hesitate to do sexual acts, but why should the perpetrator hesitate? Nobody attempts to have sex with her at the beginning, despite having many easy opportunities. WHY THE FUCK SHOULD A SLAVE OWNER HESITATE TO FUCK HIS SLAVE? WHEN THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HE DOES TO HIS ALL OTHER SLAVES! I KNOW WHY, BECAUSE THE GAMER HASN'T WASTED ENOUGH TIME TO GET A SEX SCENE!!

This is not slow corruption, this is RAGEBAITING the gamer! Man fuck this game. And in the beginning, why is everyone so determined to "only" grope her boobs. wtf is this joke? This is clearly lazy work. Probably another Patreon exploiter.

After finally unlocking(lol) the sex, the scenes gets somewhat better, but is the grind really worth it? I say absolutely not. Even with walkthrough, it's not worth the trouble, as there are many more similar games that did everything significantly better!

And the story? It never got interesting enough to hook me up either.

I am still giving this game 2 stars for the good arts(but super repetitive) and for the attempt to make the gameplay more unique (despite being a failed attempt). And I played it with lossless scaling(upscaling the game as full screen), and fixed the controller with ReWASD. So, those weren't even the issues I faced.

I think I am just pissed at myself for deciding to waste so much time with this game, ignoring the previous bad reviews and I definitely don't want others to make the same mistake.

If you have read what I have said so far, then you should have a slight idea on what kind of content I like, if you have similar preferences, then absolutely ignore this game. Play something else. You deserve better.

A generic "lust crest" RPGMaker game, with "little brother gets NTR'ed" variation. Uses the Scale Garden combat, which can be mildly fun.

The absolute stand out was the art - Rannero was a very talented artist and Yuuki, the FMC, has a great design. Unlike her mother: she looks nothing like her children and lacks the MILF vibe. No appeal, honestly. Even back when this was a doujin and not a game. Unfortunately since version 0.8 or 0.9 (I forget, it's been over two years!) he instead used AI generated images that are not a fraction as erotic as the hand drawn art. (All the images in OP are pre-AI switch.) It fails to capture the buoyancy and vivacious body and spirit of our heroine. It has no hotness or passion. It is flat, lifeless, and limp. It is, in every way, terrible.

The arguement for AI gens was faster updates. That isn't a worthwhile trade even if it was true. In this case it wasn't - the updates slowed even more. "Bad gens delivered slowly!" - Rannero's late game sale's pitch apperently. Two~more~years~!

Without the fantastic art the player is left with a cast of unlikable characters (FMC and brother excluded), a generic story done poorly, and directionless game play. Expect to wander around annoyingly large maps aimlessly.

There are no options within the story, everything is predetermined. (Unless it got retconned - the original defloration scene, circa 0.4 I think, was better than the later one.) The familial NTR had appeal but was thwarted by one of the most annoying, persistent, odious primary antagonist NTRers in H-Game history. Boo is trash.

The ending is apparently also garbage and unfinished but after the AI switch over five years into development I really couldn't be bothered to check. I've been following this game since 0.1. :(

The early days weren't perfect - the breast examination/groping scene was used so excessively it became tiresome, even to the point of irritation; nevertheless it still had soul.

Before you can play the game, you'll need to search for and install RPG Maker XP. Then you need to unpack the game, then unpack the data folder to overwrite the current data folder, finally you'll need to install the fonts in the font folder. Trust me, this will make sense if you try playing it.

So, first up, it's a buggy incomplete mess with long cut scenes and no real ending... So why the 3 stars? 1 for the effort to "finish" the game, though it's effectively just a tease for part 2. 1 star for decent storytelling though it seems English isn't first language. 1 star for the really hot MC, which made watching the scenes worth it.

In closing, hope the dev uses Ren'py if the story is going to be on rails, it's a far more suitable engine for what this is.

the dev literally took almost a DECADE, to "FINISH" this game, with more "updates" TBA.
the ending is nothing but stupid tedious puzzles, as "content" instead of actually added more story, and events.

Cute warrior chick with a clueless little brother gets cursed with horniness and manipulated by a demon to become the town slut. The game is on an old engine and requires a little effort to get it running right. There are unavoidable shota scenes and the main one is annoying but tied to the plot. There is brother NTR which I didn't really get. Game development was long and right now there is just the good ending which sets up a sequel. Some AI was used the past year or so to help speed up the sexy drawings. Despite a lot of issues and some unavoidable characters and scenes not to my taste, I would like to see more of cute Yuuki's sexy body and antics. If the dev doesn't add any more endings or spicy scenes, I hope he moves on to more with her and her fat tits in a better engine with faster development.

Putting aside this game being technically inept as well as artfully hot the fact that first sex scene you have is with biggest fuckboi twat in the story is very disappointing. I'd be okay with anyone else - other boys who are as horny as the turd but not as abnoxious, any one of the 100 horny uncles, any one of aggresive thugs and bandits, goblins. But the fact you not only get this turd molesting MC in front of others, not only she bullies her brother at the turd's request but then he's the first sex scene? Nah.

[19/oct update: Contrarily to the paragraph below, the game is no longer Abandoned, and the review reflects the time it was. I'd update the review, but the title screen alone gives me convulsing PTSD].

    Summary:
    _________________________________________________________
In 9 years, the first game to make me delete it and review it without me actually completing it. Not that it'd matter, because as if the game wasn't enough of a mess, it's Abandoned anyway.
    __________________________________________________________

    Review:

    Art-style: ☆ ☆ ☆
    The art-style is good.

It's not wonderful, and extremely scarce, but the heroine is comely, and the old trope of the protagonist having gargantuan oversized tits is... contained, in this game. There are plenty of animations, which are decent, up until you see them for the 74th time.

Deuteragonists are, as expected, darker-skinned, have an evil cocky grin, and miss details, being better described as a generalized male shape.

    Gameplay:
This game features the worst gameplays I've ever seen in an RPGMaker game.

There are no tips, no pointers, no suggestions, no hints.
The game tries to capitalize on "play time" by having gargantuan map tiles disposed mostly in an horizontal parallel, while the character moves at 0.75% of speed. Meaning, it's hard to transverse the map vertically. You can look at this example of the route you need to take to go from West Forest to the South Gate (red) and how it should be (blue). And you'll be walking around a lot.

It also tries to stall you by throwing redundant hostile NPCs in your path every now and then. It forces you to stop, fight them, and if you win, be awarded as much as 1xp. And some roads are infested with enemies.

Finally, it also tries to tiptoe its gameplay value by forcing you to grind events (like the tavern event, which you need to, four times, serve dinner to 9 people, each time going back to fetch a dish - remember the 0.75% movement?). Alternatively, it has you grind invisible stats without you knowing you're doing it, have to do it, or should have done it. There's a guide, but even if you religiously follow it, you'll inevitably get stuck somewhere and freeze your walkthrough at a dead end. Horrible, really.

    Storyline:
    Another mess.

It's an old game by its own standards, sure. I can accept the dead-and-beaten concept of "Le Nympho Heroine Because Curse But She Likes It" coming from a game this old. I hate it, but I won't let it reflect on the review.

What I can't stand is that the game doesn't know what story it wants to tell.
The pace sets off quite well, but like a kid riding a bicycle for the first time, thinking he's got it, it's suddenly crashes on the floor. After Coal Village, is when the kid falls, scrapes his knees, and never gets up again. The story that so far was being told of an invasion and an epic battle suddenly intertwines with itself into becoming a spy-prisoner-sexual-grooming-slice-of-life-barmaid-warrior-hero-art-muse.

And amazingly? Yuuki is absent of a personality besides "I'm reluctant" and "I like The Sex". during all this. How can you cram so much stuff in a single chapter, and make it so bland? There's art to this level of boredom, like cooking an extensive, rich meal, and having it taste only like potato.

Finally, and I loved this one:
The game tries to convince itself, and you, that it's female-friendly. I accept I'm playing a grooming/non-con game. But don't try to convince me it's anything other than that. The game mentions how Yuuki feels powerful with her femininity, and her strong sexual energy, and etc. - my guy, she's being PASSIVE AND SEXUALLY HARASSED. What are you on about? :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

    Grammar: ☆ ☆ ☆
    MTL, FML!

"I raised my skirt. There wasn't hesitating! What have I becoming?"

Could be worse, though. It's not constricting for your experience. 3 stars for the effort.

despite being an unfinished game, existing contents here deserves a 4 star.
the story, the gfx, the combat, etc, are well designed and not excessively grindy. had this been a finished game, it probably would have been 5 star. but i m rating this based on the game i played, not the game i could have played.

the game goes down from a 5 to 4 star for the following reasons:

    1. bugs and crashes - you do need to read postings here to fix these bugs, or else you just can't progress and enjoy the game.

    2. lack of guides - if you pressed skip and missed the text, the game itself doesnt remind you what to do next. and sometimes even if you didn't skip, you do need to figure out what to do to progress the story. given the large game content and the lack of guides, it can be confusing in some parts on how to move on.

    3. taste - the h scenes while well drawn, may not fit your taste or fetish.

Too much effort to barely have sexual CGs.
There's barely any sex here since most CGs are groping and other sexual harassment without much variation.
Also the engine is VERY outdated and clunky

    Not recommended

The gameplay is quite linear for the first half but okay. The second half is not. Its a little more open, but very frustrating. You basically keep chasing for unmarked h-events with lots of dialogue. The only positive is the npc reactionsto different actions and the day/night mechanic.
The controls are annoying (no auto-dash; opening and closing pause menu are 2 different buttons). You'll be running a lot!
For the h-scenes only a handful short harrasment clips are animated. Everything else is static and use the same image.
Story starts good at the beginning but turns into just an avarage ntr stuff meshed together in the second half.
Do not recommend to play. Luckily when you download the game, there's already a completed save file, where you can enter the recollection room in your house.

    • The game has a promising concept with decent character design, but fails in execution, leading to a low rating of 1.
    • The story has potential but is poorly developed, with predictable and dull characters, including the protagonist Yuuki.
    • Yuuki’s journey feels unfocused; the main plot is weak and doesn’t progress meaningfully.
    • While it teases player choices and stats tracking, the game is deceptive, as choices are limited or nonexistent.
    • The corruption mechanic is inconsistent, creating confusion with its pacing and effects.
    • Villagers are portrayed as spineless and insatiable, acting inappropriately without any justification.
    • Yuuki’s relationship with her brother is troubling, with her treating him poorly without any character growth or reflection.
    • Some elements, like the demon's presence, break immersion and seem pointless, leading players to question the storyline.
    • The demon's attempts to convince Yuuki she has free will only serve to frustrate players when it’s clear there is no real choice.
    • The game could have explored alternative plot directions that would make characters and situations more engaging.
    • The curse's impact on Yuuki is poorly handled, making her seem like a villain rather than a protagonist struggling with her fate.
    • A better approach would involve Yuuki fighting against the curse, rather than indulging in it without resistance.
    • The demon's explanations are confusing and undermine the story’s potential by breaking the fourth wall and revealing too much.
    • Some interactions, such as the protagonist’s forced acceptance of inappropriate situations, feel out of place and diminish the story’s believability.
    • The painter stands out as the only character with integrity, highlighting the lack of depth in the rest of the cast.
    • The story lacks the logical progression that would make the corruption separate from the main plot, resulting in a jarring narrative.
    • Scenes involving the demon are poorly written and add little value, leaving players questioning the game’s overall direction.
    • The game fails to address or develop meaningful character relationships, with Yuuki’s moral choices being particularly problematic.

Despite its myriad bugs and frequent malfunctions, I find myself irresistibly drawn back to play this game. Its flaws are apparent from the outset—glitches, crashes, and unfinished features mar the experience. Yet, despite these setbacks, there's an undeniable allure that keeps me returning. The game's core mechanics, though rough around the edges, offer a unique and engaging experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

The world-building is immersive, with a rich lore and detailed environments that pull you in, even when the technical issues threaten to push you away. The characters are well-crafted, their stories compelling enough to overlook the occasional graphical hiccup or dialogue error. Each playthrough offers something new, with choices and consequences that genuinely impact the narrative, adding a layer of depth that many polished games lack.

This game is a gem: impeccable art, addictive gameplay and a story that captivates you from the beginning. What makes it stand out is its decision system, where every choice, from clothing to titles, has a real impact on the plot. It is understandable that the developer takes his time to create new updates, since every detail counts in this complex and fascinating universe.

I thought this game is rather long with many repeat events where only little changes or progresses the story. I've played it now for about 15 hours and still not reached "the end"(of the walkthrough), although I've only used the walkthrough haphazardly when progression was beginning to be frustrating. The drawings are nice and the writing and translation seem to be good, but story progression as a whole is incredibly slow. There are about 3 subplots or areas outsite of the village which I really liked and the progression there seemed good, the village seems to be frozen in comparison.

I must say, contrary to the negative reception in this thread, I had a blast with this game even in its unfinished stage. Perhaps the difference in experience and attitude can simply be traced back to the fact that I have not been following this game for any length of time but rather found it only recently, thus experiencing it without any past baggage. Whatever it may be, my experience has been positive at the end of the day.

Great and varied animations/sprites and CG scenes, along with an excellent design for the female MC and overall "strong" writing, are what stood out to me.

Now, let's not beat around the bush. I, of course, came here for the NTR and expected it to be the main focus. Furthermore, I am someone who is very much into the more extreme and harsh side of NTR, so my positive experience with this game may surprise some. That is because the game itself is really neither cruel, harsh, nor even all that dark over its whole (incomplete) runtime, and it does not try to be either. Yet, it still managed to capture the true essence of NTR (Brother-Sister NTR to be more specific) in my opinion. The "main" and most fleshed out route of the game is NTR, not Netori, nor Netorase, but real NTR. The brother, who loves his sister (as more than just a sibling), is not only "cheated" on without his knowledge but is also teased and lowkey bullied (softly) by his rival and sister behind his back. The sister's development is a slow burn when it comes to how she acts around her brother, as she is getting slowly and surely more and more cold towards him and starts to neglect him of her own choice and by the commands of the main bully. Her love is visibly fading, and I expect her to voice her new lack of love and affection for her brother out loud towards him on the next big update (whenever that will be).

I could talk about the gameplay itself, but I honestly don't care much about it, and I suspect most other people do not either. I am just here for that sweet, sweet NTR.

What a fun game! The progression is slow, which I enjoy, and the story was as good as any other's I've read. It would be nice if there was more heads up regarding levels. I saved right before the thief quest in the beginning and pretty much soft locked my game and had to restart. I know this is not finished but I would recommend anyone looking to play READ THE WALKTHROUGH.

One of the best games out there, the girl is astonishingly sensual and her innocence carries the weight of the sex scenes in an erotic albeit believable way. The shota is fairly well written, although its personality doesn't really reflect an actual kid, rather feels like a vicious adult has reincarnated in the boy and is now taking advantage of the girl in every possible way (which makes the game even better, I think many of us will be brought back to our sexual awakenings and the fantasies we had). The way the characters behave, the writing, and the enchanting art, all work together to make this game a real masterpiece. I played many of these games, more than I would have ever liked to, and from all of them, only Alansya Chronicles and a couple others can hold a candle to this one.

The battles are the only tiring aspect of the game, but they are few and far between. Updates are also scarce but they usually deliver. Finally , I wish there was an incest path for the brother, it would make the game much better IMHO.
