RPGM - Completed - The Curse of Pleasure [v1.0] [RanneRo]

There are some redeeming things about this game. Like CG and artstyle, as well as "animated" (if you call 2 frames per hour an animation) scenes. Everything else is horrendous. Story, the way character progress(It's linear btw like all Hgames in existence, except maybe one or two), slow pace(WARNING) this game is as confusing to play as is slow. And I mean 4-6 hours of NOTHING slow(but only if you are new player and actually read that wall of text). So don't bother playing for the fap.

Maybe one day will look at something, doubt. Since it's 0.8. I may be wrong, we shall see.

Yuuki is one of my favorite girls in all the hentai world.
For many hours of the game you accumulate excitement and you can't wait for someone to be able to bribe Yuuki: latest release really full of interesting content.

I'd usually give it 5 stars, but due to its:

- over used CGs
- Boo's evil face in sex scenes
- Boo's awful attitude
- lack of story strengthening
- Boo lavish screen time
- lacking moments with Seita and his friends
- lacking public nudity,
I give it a 3 star.

It deserves to be appreciated because of its:
- originality
- one of a kind drawing style
- potential in the future (even though maybe still a long time til it's finished)

It's a pretty good game if you like ntr and corruption BUT
Boo is literally the most annoying character I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with NTR but his character is just suck ass, more suck than my broken English. I'd say I prefer sakura or jar jar binks over this little piece of shit, and don't say "if the character annoys you then the character is doing their job", fuck off a good annoying character is a character that also likable and if the audience doesn't have any interest at the character then there's something wrong with it. But with that aside, it's a pretty enjoyable game if you can look past THE GRIND, but that doesn't really matter because boo just overshadows every problem in this game. One thing that I LOVE in this game, is not only the art style but also the map design. For an adult RPGM game, it's a fantastic looking map and it looks better than the map in scale garden games, it's not big but it's doesn't look boring either. So good work Rannero, keep up the good work.


And Rannero, please let us cuck boo as well.

Starts off quite strong but then really losses its way.

It turns into a repetitive grind fest, where you have to go around and talk to everyone at each time of day in the hopes that you unlock something. And when you do unlock something 9 times out of 10 its exactly the same image you've seen countless time before just with a differnt set of hands jiggling her boobs.

Seriously this is a masterpiece in getting the most content out the fewest images.

And don't get me started on the main theme of this game being sex with minors.

[Review for V.08]

I would give it 5 stars in a heart beat, BUT I have been having mixed feelings towards it lately. Seeing how dedicated and determined the Dev is into his works and in handling fans. Not to mention his works from v.01 til v.07 were, undoubtedly, one of the pioneers in ORIGINAL exhibitionism-straight shota themed RPG games which inspired many. But, for the sake of reviewing, here I go:

---STORY SHIFT---
The story built from v.01 til v.07 had an amazing rhythm, rather slow burn, for the players and it made us feel amazingly intrigued, curious, and dying for another update. But, v.08's story telling had a shift in its atmosphere which affects not all, but many exhibitionism, NTR and straight shota lovers. I say this because the story suddenly forces Yuuki and almost everything to revolve around Boo,... not the other way around. Not only does it distract the players to question Yuuki's original perspective in "lust/self-corruption", but also unintentionally makes the players to hate Boo due to his rude, disrespectful, and unintelligent choices of words and actions to our beloved MC. Somehow I'd even prefer Yuuki having lewd scenes with her 3 little brother's best friends rather than Boo who's the "so called" main villain. Boo draws the players to even question Yuuki's values in "self-humiliation" which we expected it to be more elegant and dynamic. (don't get me wrong, I have no problem with NTR; for example; the Dev's works using Honey Select models in Pixiv/deviant art also involved a rude/ruthless-Boo, but the way the dialogues were delivered produced a more charming atmosphere, which is what we always adore about Rannero)

---PACE---
I know it is NOT easy to be a Dev who handles three lives in the same time. 1) his real life, 2) Game's life, 3) the life of his discord, etc... especially now having a newborn child which we all are grateful for. But, looking at his update pace since 2018 which has slowed down significantly, not so many story progress of exhibitionism or public humiliation can be seen. I mean, the Dev decided to glorify those kinks, not only Shota or NTR, right? With Dev's patrons huge in numbers and monthly payments, I really-really hoped v.08 could finally, at least, make Yuuki walk skirtless/pantiless with skirt in broad daylight. Turns out, not yet.

---BOO---
Wouldn't it more alluring if Boo was NOT an a**h** with an evil face in every CG he's in? there were so many dialogues showing his disrespect to our beloved Yuuki as a person. I could care less about Yuuki's lil brother, but some part was just too heavy on Boo's side.. Boo's dialogue and evil face are MAYBE arrousing for female players, but are they "that" suitable for male players like us? I know we all want Yuuki to be corrupted, humiliated and all, but at least make Boo more respectful to her? T.T

---in conclusion, make more what Yuuki really wants than what Boo wants---

Rannero, I'm writing this because I see you as one of the pioneers in English-Original-Hentai RPG games and I have no right in criticizing or even making you change your mind about anything, just continue what you do best without pressure.

Review for V0.8
Good points:
- Great art
- Combat is more interactive than most other RPGM games
- Animation in certain scenes is good

Bad points:
- Horrible pacing
- Too much running inbetween and guessing what to do next to progress
- Too much shota, more variety would have been a bonus
- Horrible characters all around

Summary:
From a personal point of view, I'd say this hits nearly the same ticks as a certain other game with a poor MC does for me. Where characters are just being tortured for the heck of it. It just makes me boil, and is basically a boner kill.
What I mean by that, is that a certain kid named Boo has a extreme hate boner for the MC's brother. And thanks to the curse ordeal, She will comply with his demands to basically torture her own brother to make Boo happy.
I would have been fine with her sleeping around and getting more and more corrupted, and perhaps even leaving her brother due to the curse taking over, but actively torturing a onlooker is something I just can't really say I enjoy.

The gameplay itself is subpar, with a lot of running and talking. With the lack of a fast forward button to speed up between dialogues is extremely frustrating if you by chance have to replay the game to get to what is considered "current content".

While the art is beautiful and nice to look at, I don't feel that alone is reason to play the game fully.
Rather, get yourself a 100% savefile and watch the scenes from the recollection room.

3/5 stars thanks to the art. I would give it less if not for my personal bias towards how the story is going.

If we just value the writing and the sex scenes and not the update frequency then this game is a 10/10. It's sad that the author takes so much time to release new content, because this game has an incredible potential: many different sex scenes situations, no annoying grinding, an amazing art...

Game version [v0.8]

Pros
+ H scenes are fantastic
+ Dialogue is pretty good and can be sped up as well
+ Animations are top notch
+ Model design of characters is also top notch
+ Good sound production in H scenes
+ Character progression between MC and other characters is good. Nothing is too rushed and the relationship feels genuine

Neutral
* Story is meh. You could put the same characters in a different setting/story and it would probably be better however this is fine for what it is.
* Lots of walking however dev added fast travel at sign posts around the map.
* Recollection room is fine but could be better. Could be reorganized to the time of H scenes being encountered. Sometimes I go through all of them just to get the ones I want to rewatch.
* Certain people and H scenes can't be avoided. Can't choose who you want and don't want. Would've been a nice feature to have so you can choose who you wanted to be doing H scenes with however not game breaking.


Cons
- Update wait times are super long. A year wait between v0.7 and v0.8
- While I think most bugs are fixed you might encounter some that are not found and the ones you usually find will make you reload a save. (Save often)
- A sub category of the story while I put it overall in the neutral the story direction overall is messy. As you play the game you only really care about doing stuff in the village/home for story progression with characters. Anything outside of the village is stuff I don't care about much. I mention since you do spend a good amount of time outside of the village on stuff I could honestly get by without doing.
- Map design is not the greatest especially before he added fast travel to certain places. However you will still have a good amount of running to do across the map given how its design. Very tedious and could be better if he redesigned it. I feel like this plagues a lot of RPGM games in general.

Conclusion
The Curse of Pleasure is sprinkled nicely with some good characters and fantastic H scenes. However its plague with long update times. With how the development of the game is going it would not be a surprised to see the game wait year+ for an update or never again. The games future is uncertain. No game is worth waiting year or more for an update even for a good game. If a v0.9 ever came out then it will be when no one expected but I hope the dev is able to finish this fantastic game he has on his hands.

It's a walking simulator -- walking between bunch of locations during different times of day, trying to figure out which NPC triggers the next event. It becomes rather tedious real quick. I am stuck at 6 out of 7 progress (required for reading the second book)-- apparently I am missing some event which I'm unable to find.

Yeah, what's not to say based off of this rate at this point.

The game had high hopes for the future and then came the many supposed changes in order to "make the game better". This would include the reworking the art (I loved the ass of that first model so much and have been very disappointed since), having to move to a different engine (that sucked and old is gold), and finally the amount of time it took for this latest version to come out. The dominoes keep getting bigger and bigger and based off of what I have seen so far I'm fairly certain this game will fall through the cracks eventually.

The wait of one year was not worth it, since the new content was very scarce ( it can be completed in at least 2 hours ), maybe I had many expectations for the 0.8 version because of the previous versions, it took a year of work to make this new version.

This is a simple conclusion with a comparison between the development time and the game time, it is very disappointing what was obtained in this new version.

Definitely one of the best on the site. I love the story arcs so far. I like the interactions with the villagers although i hope there will be a lot more soon. The slow exhibitionist/corruption is also nice. Not the best game out there but very good, and definitely worth checking out.

Love the art, especially the expression. But please pace up your progress. So people wont loose the passion and excitement for the next update. And also please create another patron page incase Patreon sniffing around your page again.

Yay! Another RPGM walking around simulator which I have to play with both hands on the keyboard. Fun. Most other RPGM games allow mouse click to move and progress the story but not this one. The art assets are kinda nice but repeated in absurdum. If you like the same boob grab scene repeated a million times then this game is for you.

Also if you like walking around a lot in RPGM games then this is for you. There is also no quest log or anything to tell you where to go next, but that's rarely a problem because where you need to go is often the same place as yesterday to repeat the recycled assets yet another time. Also there are kids groping the MC at every opportunity. It actually happens so often that I feel it's kinda the central theme of this game. Ick.

There are a few good RPGM games out there. Try them before this one.

So much wasted potential, it's a shame. I like a long build up but there is only so much breast touching I can endure until you have to move on. Come on.

The game is well paced until the bandit boss story. 5 stars up to that point. The art is exceptionally good, but after that the game regresses instead of finally taking flight.

What TF is wrong with guys in this game? Jesus Christ. At this point the failures become apparent. There is endless needless running. All quests all are at the same tedious end point. (Not that you'd know since there is no quest tracking at all) Why make the run to the hot springs across 4 different maps? 8x in a row? Just so you can see a perverted kid grab your breasts? That Boo character makes me gag. You REALLY need to like shota if you want to enjoy this game at this stage.

Seriously. This could have been a great game. So 5 stars for the first half, 1 for the second = 3 stars. Let's round down generously and make it 2.

Avoid at this point.

Good art and superb looking MC, but desperately in need of an interface which tracks quests / gives you a hint as to where to go next. In the village which the MC currently lives in with her younger brother, my most effective way of finding out how to progress has been to walk around and talk to every NPC in the village until one of them says something new, gets tedious very fast. A way to fast travel to certain locations would be nice too.

Also not into the shota stuff at all, though that's personal preference, to each their own I suppose.

IF THE CONTENT WAS THAT CAN MAKE UP TO 500MB+ I WILL GIVE IT A FULL MARKS.THIS GAME STYLE WAS RARE, I LIKE MALE MC GENRE BUT BECAUSE OF ART I LIKE IT EVEN THE MC WAS FEMALE. GOOD JOB!

Excellent animated artwork with a variety of events available. Unique and interesting combat engine for an RPGmaker engine game. Albeit the updates have been slow but can't wait for the next update of the Curse of Pleasure.

I had a great time playing chatter, I haven't laughed that long, it was fun.
Very easy and intuitive system for moving, saving and fighting
