This was my thought as well, I joined went over a ton of their work but it was lacking quality. Quick turn around on videos so that keeps some people happy but it's not worth paying each month for it.
But it takes a lot of time to make one even remotely decent, it's obvious to look for profit if you want to make it a stable thing (personal choice). It seems to me that this concept is not really clear to some people, perhaps influenced by how much low-level stuff there is on the joi site. A good JOI video could even take entire weeks.
