Ren'Py - The Manor [v0.6.0] [0ptimus]

This is the epitome of what can go wrong with a sandbox from a developer without imagination. You find yourself moving into a manor with your family and then keep grinding forever repeating the same actions over and over again to "advance" your relationship with every girl until you unlock the next chapter. Then a linear section plays out, with more characters added to the mix and more scenarios, until you're thrown again into the sandbox - back to square one having to repeat the same process again to advance the relationships enough to unlock the next chapter.

The models are barely acceptable, the interiors are uninteresting, the script is terrible and the whole thing is a poor excuse of a "game". I've seen worse than this but not by much.

Updating my review from a 3.3 to a 3.9 score, based on the 0.6.0 version.

Note (12/30/2025): The developer has committed to text re-writes and corrections on the early chapters, which were something players have wanted to see. He's highly responsive about feedback on the game, giving my review score a boost accordingly. The game should be quite a bit more polished in the future.

+/- Renders range from good (outdoor environments), to poor (characters and some interiors). Overall passable, but not up to 2024 standards.
+++ Some good (and fluid) animations, helps the renders quite a bit. And there are a lot of them across several chapters, many of them repeatable. It's a serious value-add to the game, and could be called it's primary strength. Some good fapping material there.
+/- The "lost son comes home to mother/sisters" storyline, but with a small twist.
++ Several of the LIs have amazing figures, which saves any lost interest in the other less attractive family members. Early in the game there was only 1 good looking one, but as it progresses there are quite a few more, and they are very attractive.

-- Almost no shadowing on characters or environments. Makes things look fake and frequently 2D. This is probably due to the use/re-use of backdrops for areas, and characters overlaid on those backdrops. Helps with render time, but immensely hurts quality.
-- Textures on models and objects can sometimes be sub-par (whether due to resolution of source material, or settings in the renderer).
- Game could benefit from render/scene transitions, as many of them are jarring.
--- The worst part of the AVN at this point is the Grammar, Spelling, and use of words in early Chapters. The developer has committed to re-writing these chapters in 2026.

I'd recommend the developer spend far more time on render quality, even if it slows down production. They need to re-do many renders already in the game to bring it up to standards most people would accept.

A second replay through, and I can't get enough of it. I just wish I had the replay from any point feature. The story is linear sometimes, but as you see the characters progress with you, it gets very involved. The renders are a bit on the low side so minus one star there.

The erotic content is really hot and there is lots of it as of v0.3. I was quite surprised by how much content there was for such an early version.

I was reading at first but a lot of the scenes repeat as you level up your affection so I just started skipping through everything till I got to a new scene which resulted in me really not reading any of the story content xD sorry dev.

The sandbox mode is passable. I wasn't getting frustrated at all until the lakeview got added in. I'd prefer it if you could just access it from anywhere in the house instead of just the main floor. I like the use of character icons to show where they are located in each area. Triggering the next new scene is really easy.

I was going to pass on this one but I'm glad I didn't and it's definitely not disserving of the score it has so far. I just finished Chapter 3. A few may complain about the renders not being as great as some other VN's, but damn is it ever refreshing to play a VN that's bug free, and actually has an interesting story and also gives you the hints and triggers (visual & written) that work properly.

Good renders, great animations, very acceptable grind & great repeatable lewd scenes. There's no need for a walkthrough with this one as everything is already in game.

All you have to do to get the next trigger is to advance time step by step and look on each floor & the "To Lakeview" for a question mark or next available option to click on. Love it and looking forward to the 4th Chapter. Keep up the good work Optimus, you've done a great job so far.

As the guy below said, this game does not deserve low ratings,

its a porn site with porn games. you dont need J.R.R Tolkien level of story to enjoy this, not to say its bad to begin with.

the graphic are good, and the sex or lewd scenes are even better and ¨ more HD¨ really smooth animation.

the grind is not to bad, the interactions get more lewd and hot after each event with the girls, and thus unlock different things during the regular interactions around the house.

Some of the girls are a bit more open in the beginning of the game, while others a bit more insecure and takes a bit of time for them to open up to you. but really doesnt take long if you skip a bit.

Keep up the good work, and uh hopefully this wont get abandoned anytime soon

The grind isn't that bad. And you can quickly skip through them once you've seen the repetable scenes.

Yeah the game doesn't have the best graphism. But it's genuinly not that bad once in game. You quickly get used to them, and it would be a shame to not play the game only because of that.

The Manor, knows that it's a Porn game. Not all games have to be some highly complicated drama story with Shakespeare type of writing (using porn only as a bait to grab attention) to be good.
The story is somewhat nonsensical and a bit goofy at times. And thats perfectly fine. We are here for the porn, not for a complicated story.

All characters are different, they all have plenty of scenes. There is a lot of content to see and enjoy for each character. The animations are smooth and they're hot.

And i liked what the dev did with Olivia. It's kind of a risk, because I didn't know what to think of her at first and was thinking of skipping her content. But in the end she's one of my favorite character in this game.

They should have a grind tag....man this game is so slow and you do the same scenes a millions times over and over and you have to complete it with every single girl in the game, worst kind of sandbox you will find.

Dident like the story either and its hard to concentrate after doing same scenes 30 times before you see any new text.

Animations are poor and clunky, even the music is boring.

not even sure i got to the end of current version i had top stop after getting them all to 50/50 and 30/30 except Amanda which keeps saying no news and can only be visited once a day which is a huge grind as well, i just couldent play on from that point.

Just notice a new icon with repair which is 0/100 once a day, yep no thanks the grind is just to crazy, you dont even have a skip day or time button so you have to click a char and pick a text you already seen 7 times per day to advance one thing.....

Its fun! And great sandbox. Dont deserve a low rating from lolicons. So there you have it. Milfs in house and sure like the busty daughter too. Animations are nice. English is good too. Who know what The Manor will bring.

This game is in need of some serious editing. It has a somewhat novel idea, but the execution just isn't it. Like there are all the pieces of the puzzle to make a nice thing, but they are just shoved together in a haphazard way.

One of my biggest gripes is that there doesn't appear to be any familial growth. Many of the games identical to this one have that aspect in spades and this one is lacking in that department. Like you'd think as the mc grew closer to the mom, he'd call her mom and not abbreviate her name. Also who even calls a Rebecca 'Reb'? It's usually Becca or Bec and I know that is something that many games do, but it's just odd and adds to that uncanny valley feel that is pervasive.

The story is something you might've seen in the news once or twice before, child lost since they were a baby found living with their abductor. Neat idea, let's meet the family. The mother is somewhat believable at first, no tears though. It seems the father was the only one who was really distraught over losing his kid, the rest of the family comes to somewhat resent the father because of his obsession with finding his son. Ofc the dad has to die, because incest games always need a sacrifice. After that you get a very long tour of the house and get to meet the housemates.

Let's talk about the mc. He's just a plank of wood at first and that is fine for this type of game, if you are going to have a lot of choices or options. This is not the case, you don't really get any choices, things just kinda play out. within a day he is already full deviant mode with his new family. There isn't any internal struggle, morality, or anything going on upstairs really. It's just simple monkey see neuron activated level the whole time.

The housemates are 'unique.' First you have schizo woman who says 'my boy' way too often, (I am thinking this is just a direct translation of the word mijo). Literal cow who becomes sweaty and needs to rest after traveling from one room to the next. Vain girl and typical resentful older sister who obsesses over social media popularity and accuses the mc of being a pervert and treats him poorly. Mentally ill girl and her handler the twin who has the least personality so far. After that we are off to the races.

The tour goes on for too long and you pretty much forget where everything is, because it doesn't really matter since it's a sandbox game and you will be clicking on the faces as you see them to acquire the points you need to get the next scene.

Relationship building is a mix of blue balling and mixed signals and doesn't come off as anything close to authentic. Mc is a literal stranger and the only attitude that seems remotely real would be the social media sister who doesn't trust him.

Graphics are lacking. Lots of weird lighting doesn't help matters at all. Ai background assets will make you feel like you are staring at those weird mirrors at a circus funhouse, which is pretty apt way at how I'd describe this game.

Sounds might be the best part of this game. I appreciate the little details like adding a little sound to improve a scene. Unfortunately this only applies to sex scenes. A little music here or there might improve the overall flow of the game.

tl;dr Game has heart, but no editor. Best way I could describe it would be staring into a funhouse mirror and how wonky that reflects reality.

Full of made up words, hu?, nonsensical lines, poor grammar, and very poor graphics.
I understand English isn't the Dev's native language but this is so bad that the player basically ends up guessing at what the Dev meant... There are many people who will help if asked. This game was released about 4 months ago which suggests it was in development before that so there was plenty of time and opportunity to get help. On the other hand, the Dev certainly did a great job setting up the patreon, subscribestar, and other accounts asking for money. This game is certainly not worth the current $600+ per year that is looks to bring in at the current rate.

The graphics are extremely grainy. The lighting is very poor. Certain characters don't look age appropriate in that the older ones don't look old enough for their position in the story. The MC was 1 year old when kidnapped, 19 years old when 'rescued', and it is claimed he was misssing for 17 years so he should be 18. The mother that was arrested looks like a man with tits.

It needs an editor. One problem, though, is that it will be a complete rewrite and I'm not sure too many folks will want to invest that much time.

Am I being too harsh? Maybe so it might be worth the two stars others are giving it. I would love to try it again after a complete rework and revised storyline.

If I'm wrong (which happens a lot..lol), feel free to let me know and I'll gladly change something in here.

Graphically, it's not the best.
Some of the models are not the worst and some are terrible.
At the beginning I was forced to interact with the ugly ones, but after a while the game turned out to be a sandbox, you go from room to room and score points, but I don't see any progression of the story, only a change in the behavior of the girls, at least the ones I want to interact with, I hope there won't be a forced "chase them all" because I'll go back and lower the rating.

To sum up:
Music, you can say it is.
Graphically, it's not the best.
Models, some are downright ugly, the author must have really made an effort to create such caricatures of women(elder sister and mother).
The others are not bad, although one looks like taken out of a horror movie.
The story, for the moment, is silly.
The womens, it's hard to say anything about them, you don't learn anything about them during the game you just get closer and closer to bang them.

Quite poorly it looks at the moment.

Seems kinda promising, renders are good, even soundeffects are kinda nice, although there is not much content (Chapter 1), The story is kinda "normal" ... Although there could be much more. Gotta hope it gets another few updates. all in all together i think this is extremly promising.
