Been played this game for a ancient time, shame that the dev didn't make any new games after it.

This game was made using Clickteam Fusion. You can generate a project file (or extract assets) using this tool:

No idea if you can recompile the game, but I can't see why not -- the project file contains everything.

Unfortunately, it looks like all the text is hardcoded -- no translation files or anything. If anyone plans to translate this game, going to the Event List Editor in Clickteam Fusion and searching for "Draw text" should get most of it.

I haven't checked, but I wouldn't be surprised if the dev's other games used the same engine.

How exactly do I use this tool?

Edit: Nevermind, I've done it. Needed Visual Studio (the github page's dev should have mentioned that, or not. They probably never intend this to be used by a someone who knows nothing about coding, which I am)
Anyway, faced the same issue, plus the files are not extracted in order, that's probably gonna take a while to re-arrange them

Been having problems with trying to save so I downloaded the save file, inserted into the save folder but it didn't register in game.

Even though I reach the save point after clearing the first area it doesn't register, any ideas as to why?

Have you tried running this via the Locale program in the Japanese language?
