Ren'Py - Completed - The Price of Flesh [v1.27] [Gatobob]

I loved the female villain and the writing of scenes. I just wish there were more of them, some direction on where to go, and honestly more female villains in games like these. 2 male 1 female choices for VN style games is already such a terrible habit within game development at least equalize it.

Game Over simulator, you can't enjoy the game when you're out of it after 5 minutes of playing every time. I can't really say anything else, that's the whole experience I got from 20+ minutes of gameplay

A very trial-and-error heavy game which focuses on survival. The sexual content is minimal. In Mason's route there is one blowjob scene and one rape scene. In Celia's route there is one scene with slightly sexualised roleplay and one scene in which you eat her out. Derek's route has the most with a few different rape scenes and (I think) one blowjob scene...maybe two.

I think the appeal is mainly replaying to try and achieve all endings - most of which result in your torture and death. If you have played BTD 1 or 2 and are looking for a game that is similar this might not be it. In two of the routes (Mason and Derek) the game is more focused on you surviving. The game does not have as much of an intimate focus on interactions between the MC and the killer, unlike the BTD games, and so the routes are more about survival (as well as achieving some nice gory death scenes). Celia's route is probably the closest to the previous games in that you interact with her as her pet of sorts. But like I said, most of the appeal is probably going to be found in seeing your own death. If that's what you are primarily looking for, then this is a good game for that. Quite a bit of variation. Could be a little more creative however. Also I do wishwe could've seen some more CGs to show said scenes instead of just the descriptions. I know the MC is not meant to be seen much so anyone of any gender can envision themselves as them, but even showing the killer removing your organs and seeing a CG with them holding them might have been nice.

All trial and error, no logic in any of the situations. Not to mention there's no way to know how to get any specific ending thanks to the randomness, and all just for 2 lines of extra text and no images. Total waste of time.

Talk about trial and error gameplay.

Did you take a left turn? Tough luck, you lose. Loaded and took right? You're fine for now. Do you take left, right or forward now? Left does nothing, right kills you, forward will maybe do something if it's correct time of day, the stars are aligned in your favour and you've sacrificed 10 goats to underworld gods.

My point being. There are no hints when you can do stuff. You're doing guesswork, load and try again. Gameplay is tossing a coin and hoping for the best.

A very lazy game that takes itself way too seriously. The gender of the main character does not affect the sex scenes (or any scenes), this itself should give you a hint how little sexual content there is in this game. Main game loop is all about trials and errors, basically 'go left and you die', and yea boring asf.

Awfully done BDSM game from creators who understand nothing about BDSM. As a matter of fact it's more torture than BDSM as it has very little sexual content.
The description calls it horror, and I guess it can be called something of a horror game, but very weak at that as instead of tension, it has torture and nothing else.
There is a sanity system and health bar too in the game, although neither has any use. The so called logical puzzle part of the game is laughably easy even with getting zero help from the game about the workings of the mechanics.
To add insult to injury, not only it is super easy to escape from captivity in the game, you cannot wait with escaping (in hope to get at least one proper dom-sub scene). In about 3-4 ingame days, long before ANYTHING sexually satisfactioning could happen you either get a game over, or you get a happy ending where you escaped.

So to be a sexual game it has almost no sexual content. To be a horror game it lacks any suspense. To be a puzzle game it lacks challange. I really have a hard time figuring out what was the goal of the game or who it was meant for.

Torture porn death finder. VERY little pornographic content. I enjoyed the horror and the disturbing deaths tickled a dark curiosity in me while leaving a sense of dread all the way. If any of that seemed appealing for you, try it out.

While the very few sex scenes have some of the best writing I've seen here on f95zone and the art's pretty good, there's only 6 scenes that are sexual, and even then a good chunk of them are more plain abuse than sexual abuse, so there really isn't much of porn as of right now.

And the gameplay... it sucks. No two ways to say it. You randomly wander around the same few places with no clue what you're doing again and again until you suddenly find something in the same place you've been searching for the last 20 minutes real time. And then said content leaves you with no idea what to do next anyway.

Both the lack of instructions and lack of content are problems which are pretty normal for a new game, so while it's a pretty unenjoyable game right now, it has a lot of potential.

Definitely checking back in later, but don't expect much if you play it now.

My review of The Price Of Flesh [Final]

A pretty short and poorly-designed game.
You are kidnapped and get to influence who buys who at an auction.
There are 3 potential buyers which each have their completely independent route (2 men with gay content, 1 woman for straight males).

I first played the Hunter route (which is what you get when you pick "Fuck You" instead of choosing a color):
Gameplay here was absolutely awful.
You have no idea (and get zero hints) what you have to do to survive and constantly die, because you were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Beating it basically comes down to pure trial-and-error with constant reloading and guessing what choice might have been wrong.
I gave up after half an hour of stumbling through the wilderness with zero story (apart from death scenes and a short dream).

Next I played the Celia (woman) route:
This one had some trial-and-error as well, but it was much more forgiving and logical - instead of completely random like the Hunter route.
I did enjoy the Celia story a lot, but beating it with almost all endings only took about an hour, and the good ending is just "lol you lived happily every after - the end".

The last route I didn't play because it is supposed to be the same as the Hunter route with the mindless trial-and-error stuff.

Overall one of the worst gameplay mechanics I've ever seen inside a VN.
I was first considering giving it an extra star, because it isn't aimed at straight males, but since I encountered zero gay content and the only thing that I disliked was the awful gameplay I'm not doing that.
2 stars because the mindless trial-and-error gameplay is extremely unfun.

Some extra info:
The game has a decent soundtrack + sounds and nicely drawn images (but not a lot of them).

The writing is definitely excellent, and the artworks created in the game are pretty good considering this was all developed by a single person.

I would recommend this game for anyone who has a fantasy of being in a horror movie.

If your looking for sex with the slight thrill of horror however, this might not be for you as the horror aspect really dominates the writing.

Puzzle games are not really my thing, but this is well made and the art is super nice. I wish there was more sexual content.

It wasnt exactly FOR me, but the art design was good, so was the game design. The survival parts were pretty fun and not TOO hard to figure out. So I think its a great game that just isnt geared for my tastes.

It looks like this game is getting some negative feedback due to it's genre rather than the actual quality of the game, so I'll say this: The game well written and has great art, but is intended for a pretty niche audience.

First off, this is more of a puzzle game than a visual novel. The puzzle in question is how to survive your imprisonment by one of the three available psychopaths and a lot of decisions will get you killed (often pretty horrifically). Finally solving the puzzle and turning the tables on your captor is pretty cathartic though (Derek's route can get especially bloody), and the game rewards you with concept art, background information and some tie-ins with Gatobob's previous works as you discover more and more endings.

I highly recommend using something like Unren to force enable the rollback feature to minimize frustration and let you experiment more with the outcomes of your decisions.

Now, the game does have sexual content (which you can toggle off), but you ain't gonna be fapping to this unless you're really into sadomasochism of the snuff-y variety. Every sexual encounter involves some kind of physical harm to the MC and is often fatal. Even when you're not actively being molested, it's pretty clear that your suffering and distress is arousing to your captor. You're not gonna go riding into the sunset with any of these buttholes. Although...

In closing: Excellent gory horror puzzle game with great art, writing and music. Absolutely terrible for fapping, unless you're a very specific type of individual.

Ignore the previous reviews complaining about abrupt endings and no hints. It's a well done, classic survival/horror choose your adventure with some porno thrown in for two out of the three paths (which are the characters - one male, one female - whom you'll spend time with to the exclusion of the others). You get enough info to feel the exigency of a survival scenario, but no more. The horror/gore is realistic, in your face and unceremonious. For me the story checks all the boxes of its genre.

Game design (stats, exploration, items etc) does its job but you gotta figure shit out through trial and error. In one of the routes (the 'Deliverance' guy) the requirements for the good ending are unfair, since they rely on a specific sequence of actions instead of exploration and time/resource management.

The three paths are distinct self-contained stories, and mutually exclusive, and the choice is presented right at the start, which is something other porno games should emulate. Instead of the usual linear story pretending to be a "choice-based visual novel".

Writing is concise & meaningful. I actually want to read it, and I can't say the same for all but a handful of other porno games.

I'm not gay and extremely violent femdom without actual sex can turn me on a little bit (which this game did) but not enough to fap. I am very much into sick/depraved/weird stuff in general though. So my rating concerns the story/vn more than the porn. Well, except for the woman antagonist route that actually has a p cool twisted romantic ending.

The game dev forewarns you that this game is not for everyone and I can safely say that it is not for me. There is supposedly 6 sexual CGs out of the 140 scenes but for the vast majority of your time you will be looking at the "You Died" screen and reloading.

Content exploration is actually disincentivised with the unforgiving death mechanics so you will be playing this with a guide from the outset, but why would you want to keep playing if every story branch leads to some sickening death scene?

All three levels feel grim and depressing leaving a bad taste in your mouth as another reviewer put it. This game could be vastly improved if the scenarios actually involved multiple sexual ecounters but the dev apparently wants to prioritise gore and misery, so there is no point in hunting down what little good CGs there might be.

Would have rated it 1/5 if it was also buggy and broken, but disgusting content aside the game is your standard Ren'Py affair and I experienced no crashes in the hour or so that it took me to complete it.

This game is a point and click horror game where you wander around till one wrong decision means you are brutally murdered, usually stabbed to death, then you lose all your progress and rinse/repeat.

This gameplay style, combined with the relatively limited number of areas, means I often felt like I was bumbling around with no sense of direction. While this is fine for building atmosphere, gameplay wise it feels awful. I didn't end up finishing either route where you are hunted because there was nothing to keep me interested. The people hunting you aren't interesting, your character isn't interesting, and I never got to a point where I cared about the other survivors in the desert route.

In terms of sexual content this game appears to have very little. Maybe there is some hidden but from the gallery there are 6 scenes, 5 of which are you preforming oral on someone hoping that you don't die, to mixed results. Considering how lackluster these scenes are, and the fact that they are optional it feels like an afterthought. So, if you're looking for an erotic experience go elsewhere.

TLDR: If you enjoy wandering around in circles waiting to get horribly stabbed or beaten to death you might enjoy this game, for anyone else I would advise against it.

I don't know. This one left a bad taste in my mouth. It's not that I mind the content, I just mind the execution. It's poorly done, there are a total of 6 CGs and it barely qualifies as being a sexual game. I give it two stars because I do like the presentation and I can see the effort that has been put into it.
Maybe it would be an interesting art project but a good adult game, it just isn't.

Its hard to pin point where i want to put the grade is, i would love to have 3.5 star, because this game has nice writting, great art, a lot of content, yet it still somehow feels barren.
Game just lack in the worst places. For example, you get to the endign with Celia, you run with her and... It fade to game end screen. Like really? No after scene. Nothing. Just fade to You lived and straight to the main menu...
And whole game is full of this, many options lead to boring "you dead" moments, with minimum to none way to tell that you heading into trap. The time management mechanics is just there for the most part, i swear if you remove them barely anything would change. Especially in Celia route.
I want to give it 4, but after evaluating everything i said, i can't, it just not enough to be 4, it is 3 with big sign of "unfortunately".
