Woooooooot, I had no idea. I don't even know what background I was running on the latest update, I replayed the game a few times to see what changes I can find choosing different options. This went right over my head.

You might want to check out The eWardrobe which has (roughly) similar theme and quality of writing as well as compliance/resistance paths, although in modern setting (also quite more of sex content) Caveat though: it's only ~2/3rd done and sadly, isn't ever going to be finished. So it'll leave you hanging and potentially depressed.

As a sidenote, I'd like to point out if you're getting depressed over a game/story not being finished you should seek therapy.

And yes, eWardrobe is a nice one.
I didn't mean getting depressed over the story not getting an ending per se, but --without getting into spoilers-- because it can get fucking depressing themes-wise and with no option to get better due to lack of closure. The protagonist can be in bad place mentally, and the writing makes it easy to empathize with them.

Thanks, I played eWardrobe.

Highly similar to TPT
Looks interesting but, despite the fair warning that the game isn't a porn fest, the lack of a vaginal sex tag keeps me away. Emasculation, however it happens, doesn't appeal to me. Quit playing a few games when the proverbial chastity cage was brought in, and it became apparent that the MC would never have sex in the male role. In TPT, what I like is that you can be as reluctant as you want to be, without getting an early ending. The Queen's "flexibility" is a good artifice. I play hoping for an ending that's provocative, but doesn't break the MC's spirit, if we play the reluctant m2f way, wouldn't mind the MC became permanently "feminized", as long as he could charm a couple of girls along the way. A girly throuple with a trans MC, a lesbian and their loyal chamber maid, fucking like bunnies and living the good life in court, permanently. Add the Queen's "blessing" and perhaps something more.

Note the lack of vaginal sex in that game isn't due to emasculation but because (so far) the game has only two masturbation scenes total. So far there's no indication, from the author or otherwise, that she's planning to introduce such themes.

Eeeeeh. These other games just don't appeal to me as much. TPT is a special case, being a story with very high stakes, makes the resistance or lack thereof matter. Every defiance could be lethal and every concession given through gritted teeth. There's real weight and meaning behind choosing how far you're willing to go.
Plus, even if you're "giving in" that doesn't mean you're a defenseless flower. You can still impose your will, strategize, and in some cases fight with steel and blood your adversaries.
Gotta give kudos to the author. Lots of erotic games with good writing fall under either "writing revolves around a fetish" or "the porn is extra and the story could happen without it", but I can say with certainty that TPT could not exist were it not a feminization porn game.

Sure, tags should reflect the current state of the game (and it's up to the author whether or not to disclose "future tags" as a minor spoiler). But I don't agree that the game has no indication that MF sexual relationships could develop in the future.

So the entire tension build-up in the princess' bed every night, is that going to remain an unresolved blueballing arc? The point of tension is resolution. Non-resolution is exactly what I was dubbing "emasculation", not in a physical sense, but in the sense of attitude. At some point, respect has to give way to something more. The text clearly suggests that she's aware that the MC is peeking on her, and that it doesn't bother her. The MC is attracted to her and, unless he's "mentally transformed" to the point that he loses his sexual drive altogether, he'd be bound to make a move, sooner or later. I don't see how there's no indication that's author's planning to introduce sexual intercourse. Sure, other outcomes could come of that arc - but when there's tension but no resolution, the result is frustration. It's a risky move, some enjoy it, some don't. Personally, since there's a clearly hedonistic path in the options you're given during the Queen's interviews, I'd see romance flourishing with the maid in that path, with the Queen's blessing (she's not sadistic, wants control, and a predictably hedonistic MC can be exactly what she needs).

Sure, there's an "infinite" number of ways the story could move from the current point. The maid could peg the MC instead, especially if she's convinced he's willingly renouncing his dick (a hint given during the chastity cage event, even if you choose not to use it). But that would be another emasculation route and not the outcome I'd prefer. I play the game as the playboy male that reluctantly gets dragged into this "temporary" role, and at some point decides to make the most out of it - he didn't change from his playboy background, just saw an opportunity offered by the Queen and chose to take it. Given that this is perfectly canon within the options you're given throughout the game, I'm just hoping it doesn't lead to a bad or frustrating ending. And it IS frustrating, when what draws me to (namely) crossdressing games is the scandalous, rules breaking aspect of it, that a huge majority of other games focus on full transformation, submission, chastity (through whichever means). The point of breaking role assumptions is that your character can retain their original gender and all assumptions it carries, but the story forces them to adapt and compromise. The moment where they accept a new identity fully, the whole tension is gone and, for me, it's anticlimactic. I understand that for others, that acceptance may come as a resolution itself.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to rant about it if this story doesn't go the way I'd want it to - ongoing games should go the way the author sees them going, without pressure. Sometimes a game is cool to play in its early stages because you play with the possibilities of where it can lead you in the future, and when it's finished, it's not at all the kind of story you'd want to dance with - that's just life. I just make my POV known in case there is a point in waiting for future development, that the author or someone might point it out, if they wanted to. In general, it's best to wait for the game tor reach 1.0 - then it's either a story I'd like to play, or it isn't. Regardless of how well written it is, or how well designed the gameplay is - which are two reasons I vouch for this game. In the end, I may recommend it as a great game, I think I've played it often enough to be confident on that recommendation, but still not play the finished version, if I know there's no satisfactory resolution for me.

With the game now two years old, I would take it as the dev is not comfortable writing sex scenes or doesn't believe they could do that type of writing justice compared to the normal story.

I feel like there's multiple misunderstandings here:

1, i wasn't talking about this game but about The Mirror's Curse, given this whole tangent was started by a response to post which recommended it as another game similar to TPT
2, i wasn't talking about MF sexual relationships as something that's unlikely but about emasculation. (again in that game, not in TPT; emasculation obv. can and does potentially happen in TPT) Thought it'd be pretty clear, given i referenced it specifically in my reply.

As for having sex scenes in The Princess Trap, i'd guesstimate these can very well happen, given the game is inching towards that with advancements between MC and Simone, if nothing else. The game being two years old doesn't really mean much, given it's clearly a very slow burn sort of a story.

I think it's less that I'm not comfortable with it, and more that I'm such a slow-burn junkie that I'm revelling in the tension.

We're defining developing towards a consummation to some of the character relationships, but I'd hate to skip straight to it and miss the chance to explore all the nervous, tender excitement every step along the way. Both in terms of character relationships, but also the main character coming to terms with their own sexuality.

I can totally understand why that could be frustrating though haha.

Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against the slow burn and that doesn't frustrate me at all. I'd be if no resolution would exist where the MC had the option to express his maledom with Simone in "the old fashioned way", since I see that as a possibility and play with that expectation. As long as each episode takes you through interesting antics, I'm all for it. Only if Simone's arc stalled, or the story took a different turn and left that arc hanging, or if it started showing in the future that we were approaching Zeno's paradox - with increasingly smaller steps forward, so that you endlessly came closer but never quite there - would the slow burn exhaust its appeal to me.
