RPGM - The Proteus Effect [v10.3] [Proxxie]

Probably the most tedious game I've ever played, completely not worth your time. Imagine a porn game having one sexual (sexual not sex) scene for every 3 hours you spend on it. If you enjoy lots and lots of terrible dialogue and lots of stupid little time wasting fetch quests then go for it.

What to say about this game.. it's a difficult one..

1st - If you are looking for a quick "sexy-times" game- Go elsewhere, this is not the game for you. The thing is, this is a good game on all it's own, and if anything i feel like the sex scenes are so few and far between they actually detract from the "game". Which the "Game" is really quite good! The game in and of itself is easily a 4 maybe 5 star game without any sexual content.

To give you a tangible example, i'm 3-4 hours into it, and maybe 2 -3 minutes of those 3-4 hours are sex scenes.

2nd - The art style is really quite nice - but early on (no spoilers) you'll get some very Meh renders, when the game starts proper you'll get the good (in my eyes) "cartoony" style.



Lastly - Personally i like this for a Female protagonist game, YMMV

TL;DR - Great game - poor sexual content game. Caveat maybe i'm just not far enough into the game yet.. but if 3-4 hours isn't far enough.. well, that's is also useful info in a review.

This is one of the better games to be found on F95. It's funny, it's well-scripted, and the plot pacing is just right. The combat is light but the renders are clever and cute and of course, plenty of sexy time to be had (do read the tags for the kind of content within, though). It also seems to be updated regularly, which is a bonus. Two hours into the game and I was having enough fun that I had to go and sign-up for Proxxie's Patreon to show support. It's that good.

I don't get the good ratings of this game. Yes, the writing is good, but it's a porn game and there's almost no fucking porn. You'll seriously play 30 minutes to an hour between each short scene. The writing isn't that good.

Some sequences are seriously funny though, especially if you've played MMOs, like your companion learning to tank. But far more often it's the author trying to hard to be funny with endless pages of slow-moving text. Just get to the porn already. Serious pacing adjustments required.

But the real turd here is the rock&bomb dungeon. Oh. My. Fucking. God. How the hell did the author think this would be fun? It's terrible in every way and lasts forever. One room has you pushing 20 fucking bombs around in slow-motion to make an exploding chain. It's not challenging, it just takes for fucking ever is boring as hell. This isn't the worst though. Another room requires you to time explosions to hit a water-spurt down-river. A third room also requires you to float bombs in order to blow up an obstacle down-river, before some asshole moves the bomb. And finally, there's the "king of the hill" defense/sidequest where the framerate and engine completely tanks (I "cheated" this by blocking the ramps in advance). Timing and accuracy expected of you, boys and girls, in a fucking RPGM game. I can't recall playing anything half as infuriating in years. The controls are dogshit, accuracy is dogshit, and the design of these sections is pure and utter shit. The final straw for me was the rock boss at what I presume was the end - who wasn't remotely challenging but had so much HP it took forever to burn him down - then he runs off in true MMO next phase style and another encounter that requires - YOU FUCKING GUESSED IT: PUSHING MORE BOMBS.

I was done at this point. Not wasting another second on this.

Summary: Unless you love RPGM gameplay for its own sake, avoid this. You'll spend 10+ hours walking around town, with maybe 15 minutes worth of scattered smut/scenes if you put it all together. Maybe.

I LOVE this game. Seriously, it has pretty much everything you'd expect from an RPGM game. Creative story, entertaining characters, fun world, humor... And the best part of it, that sex isn't the goal of the story, but a fun side activity, and a very-well written at that. All the sex scenes are hot, but you can enjoy the game very-VERY much even if you completely ignore the sex part.
I can't emphasize humor enough, as the game has lots of it, both in situations, and in the characters themselves, and absolutely in a good way. The game is literally a parody of fantasy MMORPGs, and does a great job at it.
Unfortunatelly it's a bit short in its current state, but even now it has about ten hours of fun, and not even the grindy kind. Old school RPG fans might find it a bit too simple, as you can't upgrade your character, you can learn new things, upgrade skills only through story progression. But it also means you can avoid every single fights except for the boss fights, and you won't be punished for it by the game. Therefore, the game isn't grindy at all, you won't have to go through tedious hours to progress the story. There are also not so many fetch quests, which is also a huge upside.
My only problem with it, that MC is seriously, and painfully dumb. Imagine the usual dumb comic relief character from movies and video games, now you play that role, only a little bit dumber. It gets better over time, but it's a bit bothering at the begining.
But, as a whole, I can only recommend this game. I just wish there was more like it.

okay i have not yet completed this version(not even close to it i must assume) because tbh i got bored. but that does not mean this is a bad game at all. the story and concept is quite nice. character design is very good. i really liked the cute 3d graphics of the MCs. i also liked the bits of humour here and there.
now for the cons. the quests were fun and amusing at first but it got really boring and tedious. i know this is a rpg game and you are supposed have quests but when you have got to travel large distances in search for ingredients for cookies to have a tea party with a dragon(which you are supposed to slay) it gets kind of frustrating. it is actually kind of funny and some might definitely like these quests but it's not my cup of tea ^_^'
and secondly, there are very few erotic/sex scenes(it might get better later idk) which i would not have minded had the quests been a bit more fun. unfortunately, they were not(for me) and hence the score 3/5.

Love this game. The combination of old school RPG and scenarios. I found myself more playing for the same of the game instead of the H scenes.
Honestly the way the MC acts, and the faces she makes looks exactly like my wife. Seriously. Even the comments about the chocolate cupcake in Orgemarsh is bang on to what my wife would say and act.
Can't wait for more

Plot: A good one nothing to say, i like it ^_^

CGI: Mesmerizing, i love it!

Characters: I really love how the MC and Ana interact with each other, minus a point for the MC that soon as he enter in the game that Ana likes(Continents of Carnagecraft was its name or something similar)his way to think is kinda naive in a 8 years old girl...while he is at least 18 or 20, but it doesn't bother me too much, i'm just saying that it's strage thinking to try to tame a dragon with biscuits while you can't free yourself from the VR-thing(but it's funny in small doses)

Bonus: Finally a game with gender-change without degrading stuff and MC and Ana looks like a couple at the beginning of a healthy relationship(yeah i love kinky thing but the vanilla-side of those thing xD)

I really hope this game end up in the popular games section ^_^

Wow, I can't believe I haven't tried this game before, but now that I have, I just can't get enough of it.
Likeable characters, interesting and funny story, even a fair amount of sidequests, and of course lot of other kinky stuff to go along with all of it.
Everything is offered to you as a choice and you don't even have to play it for the porn, just for the story and I am really looking forward to the finished project!

A lovely combination of good characters, humor and porn. The MC is stupid but totally adorable, at least after turning into a girl. I'm hoping, should they return to the real world eventually, that they will retain or regain some of their characteristics. It would be better if they were unable to ever leave in my mind though (maybe their physical bodies already died and they are trapped forever now?).
Ana would be completely unbearable, if she were a fully normal girl. Her PC personality is often annoying but it works brilliantly with her status as a futa. Making her experience what it's like to have a dick is heavenly justice.
The side cast also has many good points, though the girls shine a lot more than the guys.
I also honestly enjoyed the pretty creative puzzles and was able to complete them without looking anything up. Mini games are usually the bane of existence in porn games, but these were well done in my eyes.

Been playing this game since early on. The author's wit is a lot of fun, giving the whole setting a sort of tongue-in-cheek feel to it, and the art is charming. This is among my favorite adult games.

This game is definitely one of the best games I've found here so far. The story is funny and original, the npcs and especially the mc are hilarious, and the artwork ist great. I also didn't encounter any bugs (so far), which is rather surprising for a RPG Maker game. If I had to criticize one thing, it's the fact that there's no gallery, or other possibility to replay scenes. But apart from that, it's a real gem.

Light on the H, but very well written as a Spoof on adventure games. Probably one of the best I've seen.
Comedy first, H porn second, with a cute relationship between the PC and her partner.
It's totally not the PC becoming a slut to all the monsters she meets as per most H RPG games.
The cartoony H itself is very nice if you're into that style you see on the samples.
Note: slow start, first H scene doesn't come in until later and some early reflex games to get through. Save on Page 16 you can use once you hit it if needed.

One of the few games on here that I'd play regardless of the erotic content. The art is stylish and unique within itself and the writing is humorous and fresh. I'm looking forward to more content to flesh it out!

This game proves that very few cg may still mean a great adventure . Actually, I don't know what kind of game the creator wants to do. But that's fine, I enjoyed these 2 hours .

There is place for plenty fap material, I hope the dev work on that for the next part.

[[review of v0.2.4]] A very promising game, where the H events are of a lightly erotic nature, instead of an explicit one. The outstanding quality of the text, full of wit and satire (and very few typos), and the quirkiness of the whole initial situation and subsequent adventures, make this game truly stand out from the crowd. Not perfect (nothing is), but close.

And, even if I'm not a fan of in-game skill-testing mini-games, those to be found here, though they can be frustrating, are just as witty and quirky as the rest of the plot.
