VN - Ren'Py - The Shrink R&R [Season 2 v2.9] [OneManVN]

Wow. All I can say is this was Impressively disappointing.

Played the initial release and thought it was a VN that had potential to be a real hit. Solid foundations for a decent story, even if somewhat cliché (But i mean, what VN on this site isn't cliché?).

I naively returned to the 0.52 release with the hope of being thoroughly entertained and enjoying some one handed gaming . But what i found was a real Thelma and Louise type game. No I don't mean a great story about empowerment. I mean it fell off a fucking cliff.

The game is essentially just a dick-girl fetish fest with some pussy on the side.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy dick girl action as much as the next man but even I thought it was too much. Perhaps it would be bearable if there was any tiny little crumb of a coherent story or multi-faceted characters but unfortunately those have been long forgotten and instead have been replaced with a reliance on hollow sex scenes with average looking renders/ animations.

The only thing saving this game from being a 1 star is the metric ton of Hopium that I keep taking with the hope that OneManVN can get this VN back on track.

Will probably play once its completed but good god expectations are low now.

Edit: After seeing the game was getting a remaster I gave it another go and so far its promising so I'm gonna bump the rating up to 4 stars and hope that it doesn't fall off the rails

I'd give it 2.5 stars if possible because the game is just below average. The game is really mediocre. there are a times where scenes will come in out of nowhere like the pizza delivery girl suddenly being in the house after having sex with the maid or Melissa having femdom sex with mc even if you go with the maledom path ( the dev has tried to justify this but its just a really bad justification). The game seems like there are either scenes missing or the dev is just bad at story telling.

Have you ever thought to yourself "You know what I'd really like? I'd like to be bummed by a dickgirl as she lovingly looks at me" or maybe even "I'd like a dickgirl to be my mistress and treat me like an onahole" WELL WAIT NO MORE!!!

This game has some of the best animations I have seen in a Ren'Py game with a fun story to boot, hopefully the game continues being made as it has a lot of promise to be one of the best games on this site I will donate to help the game along as it does have a great cast that you will genuinely care about their fates

Encountered a series of bugs. Game was literally jumping to different time periods for scenes. Latest was having fun with Aiko while others watched movie, then maid steps in as it should half way through having sex with her suddenly character have sex with delivery girl out of no where (no transition) , then sex with Mellissa (no transition and had not done anything with her yet) they to a scene with Mellissa playing with another unknown girl. No transition scenes in between. Then everything just returns to normal progression. This is the 3rd such time that scenes have jumped like this. Multiple characters in speech have referred to scenes that did not happen. I am not using a mod. But bugs are bad enough that if it happens again will walk away as it has made the story a jumbled mess for me. There was also the introduction of another room-mate character that comes out of no where and acts as if she has always been there but talks like she doesn't know anything about what happens in the house on a daily basis.

Hot af characters. All kinds of fetishes. Funny writing, as well as a good story. My personal favourite is Brenda. Can be finished pretty quickly, but with time hopefully we'll get more! 11/10 would play many times over!

There's a lot that can be critiqued in this game, but I'd be lying if I didn't say this game just does it for me.

It's undoubtedly much more of a porn game than a story game, and consequentially features porn-level writing as far as the plot is concerned. But that's not a bad thing. Sometimes a thick redhead is much more preferable than a thoughtful story.

Those who are leaving bad reviews based on the story are all off base imo. Criticizing the story makes no sense when the dev is obviously not taking it extremely seriously either. They brought in Putin, Kim Jong Un, and what I assume was supposed to be Trump (the dialogue was there, but the model looked wacky). This is not a serious game.

That said, there is a lot that can still be improved. The dick angle looks really bad in some scenes, as in, it is full on curving in ways that should not be possible. Lighting is off, some models look not quite right, etc. It's far from perfect. But for me, some parts are still really hot. Particularly Alice!

The plot is famously twisted from a vengeful wife from Sex and the City to intrigues with the terrorists from Nikita and the bear cavalry (sarcasm, the mushrooms are probably not fresh). But the satanic animated dance (miraculously at the moment of the game they called and watched this dance for more than a minute) ... Author! anything, such a terrible dance of calling hellish Satan under this creepy "happy birthday mix" will not stand the weak psyche of an ordinary man in the street... It feels like they scared away the previously mentioned pandemic demon, well, or brought their brother to him, but not with the day birthday congratulations, seriously googled how people dance, in different shows and forget about ritual dances because it's like hb in the story.

If you forget about this episode, the game is pretty good in various aspects, even intriguing in places and there is something to laugh at. The models are not boring, although the characters are relatively stereotyped, but there is an excitement to follow the development. Well, after the appearance of the "Trifecta" way, we can definitely say that there have really hot scenes with perfectly written dialogues.

A nice surprise here, I thought this was going to be an average game, but it gave me a nice fap time.

Models are very nice, the dev knows the good stuff (T H I C C) but sometimes they fall a bit in quality terms. The few animations seems to be nicely done, that's a plus.

I don't really know what to say about the plot because it seems to be important once or twice in specific moments of the game, but the rest of the time it's just MC "let's find some chicks to fuck" mood. I think the story should be more secondary, it interrupts the dynamic of the game several times.

I have to say that this game actually made me laugh at some points, which never happened before playing any adult game. The humor is nicely implemented in almost every dialogue.

Not really much more to say, there is limited content right now (I got a bit disappointed) but I think it's already an enjoyable experience.

Well I must say the script seems like it was written by a 16 year old doing a fanfic. The interesting thing is that if you tune out or even ignore it and just follow through the visual scenes, you could easily make up another story as they progress through the game (if you'd prefer ofcourse). The situational aspects within the scenes allow for this flow very well. I'm also detecting some oriental connotation in certain moments of this script, but it's been clearly stylized to be westernized.

The renders are sensational and the girls look top A beautiful. And those are probably some of the only things keeping me from not playing this further, as much as I wanted to.

Although I will admit that the plot itself as it pertains to the virus is an intriguing idea.

Ok, I gave this a bad review to begin with but after talking with the Dev I figured out the issue I was having was a bug.

I love the characters with one TINY exception, but I can live with it to enjoy the rest of them. Absolutely love the models and even if not every character is my thing, the variety the Dev offers with each of the characters.

An impressively terrible game.

One dimensional characters, awful dialogue, a nonsensical plot, plenty of failed attempts at humour, and damn near every lazy porn game stereotype you could think of. The writing is by far the worst aspect of the game, but most of the erotic content is rather poor as well, so the game manages to disappoint on all fronts.

The game is.... ok. It seems to suffer from the issue where it doesn't know whether to be a serious game or not. I think it really needs to lean into the absurdity of it all in order to get anywhere otherwise it'll be forgettable.

Character models are ok without being stupendous. The story as I mentioned is a bit peculiar as it feels a bit too serious for what it is at times. The dialogue between the characters is kinda average. It suffers from having little backstory to explain why characters are the way they are. It, at times, seems to rely on the old trope of "well this sister hates you and this sister is secretly in love with you and this sister is.." etc etc. Yeah I get padding the game out with backstory can be dry but it'd help to meet the player halfway

Just from reading the description I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this story. Though what I got hadn't entered into my mind at all. It talked about a virus and changing MC's life. My first thought was a male to female story. But it didn't have the hallmarks of one. Typically that wouldn't be done in a "one guy, house full of women" story. So then I was thinking like a "dick growth" or "mind powers" or even "suddenly attractive" story, maybe even all three. But yet I was still thinking small effects.

Perhaps it is simply due to my play history of games but typically when the description mentions "life completely changed" it's talking about something that only effects MC. Obviously after playing the game that is not the case. Which is actually a breath of fresh air come to think of it.

The visuals are good, though it sometimes looks like Alice is taller than MC half of the time. And blurple hair looks older than she's meant to be due to the muscle definition. I played with trans content on because I was curious. And I do love how they were portrayed. Just like any other person. Exactly how it should be.

Honestly this is a great game, it has it's weaker moments, but all in all I can't say it's bad at all. It's a step above good, which is why it gets 5 stars from me.

I came here after running down some of the story routes in Alison:FotA. Thought, okay, there doesn't look to be a lot to this game yet, and the whole everyone's penis shrinks concept is kinda silly.
But.
Holy Shit do I like this game. The girls are great, the renders are beautiful, and the story (while still pretty silly) is proceeding well along its own logic. My only complaint, and I really can't call it a serious one, is that there are so many choices that disqualify you from some content as you go through the game. Be prepped to have a lot of save points here.

Didn't grab me.

Mixed feelings on the art, like the proportions but the skin/muscle tone looks weird and the faces are potato-y. The futa models are awkward looking.

Writing is mixed. Scenario is ...alright...? Voice and dialog are both meh. The plot branches are somewhat called out by citations on the choice buttons themselves, but some of those are unhelpful and at least one (youngest sister) is a personal lose-lose dichotomy for me.

I found the porn dull, with outright turnoffs more common than anything I found hot.

System-wise, the early game has far too many sudden full stops that prompt the player to enter custom relationships for characters before you know their context. Irritating to me for both narrative flow and for raising my "how the fuck should I know?" ire.

TLDR: Subjectively poor for me, your results may vary.

I just couldn't get into this one. The girls are all minor variations of the same body. If you are into bodybuilder frames that look like too many steroids were consumed, you will probably enjoy this. But the bodies just look awkward to me.

Too much saturation on the renders, making the girls all look garish. The plot is silly at best. The smallest bust is probably a very full C-cup.

The story is for shits and giggles. I love it. The main attraction of this game is the girls. All of them are beautiful and got personality, dick or not. Yep this game got futa but it's optional. Alice is one of the best girl in adult game for me. I even prefer her over Alison.

I know this game wants to be humorous but a lot of the scenes come across as cringe instead. Like Hodor at the bakery, and Aiko's constant bitchiness. The cringe extends to the mc, who finally decides after 23 years of being a deadbeat to casually sexually harass his sisters, and they'll be okay with that to fit the plot. Speaking of the plot, obviously the game isn't meant to be taken seriously so it's hard to critique it. But there's also poor attention to detail, like the bakery scene: the windows indicate night, even though we know it's daytime. Or the scene outside the police station, Leliana and Aiko are seen walking to Markus, in the MIDDLE of their conversation with him.

The reason this game isn't 1 star is because I've seen worse. When the dev doesn't take the game seriously, neither should we. I think the in-game music alone will tell you that.

I like the models in this game, but the name seems unfortunate--I thought this was about some kind of perv psychiatrist, so I didn't really even look at it. Somehow, the pictures caught my eye or something, and I finally found out what the story is. It's pretty enjoyable, though it seems to have some growing pains, and the writing feels a bit constrained by adhering too closely to conventional tropes.
