so i've downloaded a few body presets like the eve one, dumbaby's, obscurus, redheadsims, etc, but for some reason a lot of them look warped and weird. does this happen with anyone else?

That's how I see it in CAS too. But I think this is normal preset behavior. Miiko, for example, writes about her presets: 'Important! The default shape when applying a new preset has different slider settings, so you need to use the in-game sliders if you want the body shape exactly like the previews'. So I think the following applies to all body presets: post-processing with sliders.
