Huniepop was only successful because of the amazing art in the first game, the dialogue and game were mediocre. Hopefully they learned from the failure that their second game ended up being and hired the same artist or someone as good for Huniepop 2.
I'm actually thinking the opposite: the art was kinda meh, but the gameplay and dialogue were very fun for me. Definitely the best and smoothest match-3 game I have experienced. It requires skill and strategy. In fact, if you just match-3, you eventually just lose the game. Gotta think outside the box and drag pieces across the whole board to setup match-4's etc.
My only hope for HP2 is that the art has leveled up exponentially. If I see another game that cheaps out on the drawing of buttholes, I'm going to be furious. All those Asian artists lazily draw a cross or a star shape and call it a day
The HP2 trailer seems to promise some lewd 'from behind' scenes, so I'm curious to see what they've done. I'll definitely be disappointed after all these years, if they cheap out on the assholes.
By the way, the release is getting very very close. No more delays, no more exuses. Steam Store page already up, planned release before Valentine's Day.

Steam page up for Huniepop 2. Blocked in some countries sadly (e.g.: Germany); can't view it personally.
