It was a story about a guy who's mother passed away and the only thing she left him was a book that when read it would take him to a fantasy land that would be his new reality. His best friend decided to go with him and the main things I remember aside from that are that there were cat girls, his best friend became one, and he ended up becoming some kind of king amongst the people with powers like him and his mom. Also the powers were from sources called the Fade and the Shade with both having female avatars so they can communicate/procreate with the MC.
