No, I'm not talking about the AI CG I've seen in a few games here. It's too cartoonish and, IMO, a passing curiosity. What I'm talking about is the AI that is visually indistinguishable from real humans. Fully animated models such as these:

The story (writing) will always be the most important thing. But it will be interesting to see if this option becomes financially viable for devs to implement and if so, when.

haven't AI idols existed in japan/korea for years already?

not that they'd be in any significant way more artificial than the 'real' human idols, which are all just paid actors portraying what the companies tell them to portray.

there's no shortage of porn online to begin with so I doubt AI characters get much traction on onlyfans or anywhere else. the way to separate yourself from a million others has been having personality for decades already, where as the strength of AI is proving 'more of the same' generic slop.

As you already noticed, the technology is ready.

That means - someone should decide to make a game with it. I guess that higher quality images take more time to properly describe and render. So it comes down to how much effort any developer is willing to put into artwork. Basically, human factor: it may be tomorrow or in 10 years, AI engineers have already done their job now its gamedevs turn.
