Would have preferred that it was somehow communicated, but one frame she's a prisoner and the next she is already a friend? If she was non-essential to main plot so be it, but she seems to be a pillar of the story.
Do we know if she regretted what she did? Does she hold resentment towards lockhart? Is she a 1k year old broad?
Because prior she was under the control (and assume unable to have a will of one's own) of Lockhart. Once free from his control she is free to make her own decisions again and be her own person and is no longer a threat.
Exactly what Maviarab says above.
The reader isn't given all information at that moment in time. Spice Weavers are very, very, rare and most of what is known about them is rumor and conjecture. So it makes sense the MC doesn't know much about them and what they can do as he watches it live. Because the MC doesn't know everything about what's going on, it makes sense the reader also doesn't know. The MC is at sea, attacked by pirates, and needs to make a quick field decision with very limited actual information.
When MC defeats Glade, her skin/eyes very noticeable change. She appears somewhat disoriented, and immediately upon regaining her senses says she was under Lockhart's control and she's lost everything and everyone. She is also not injured from the sword piercing her... a strange anomaly. But do you believe what she says? Is just just trying to save her life? Will she turn on you? This kind of storytelling is cool but really only works the first time as each additional retelling the mystery is already solved.
If I remember correctly, there was also a conversation later when they get back to the capital city with the King... if you sided with him to apprehend your 'father'. I'm not 100% confidant, but the King talks about how dangerous spice weavers are, and I think one of the given examples was controlling minds.
And then again later in the game, if you have dinner with Glade she will tell you more about it and she
might also tell you how old she actually is.
